“My go-to order in most places would be a Reuben. The quality of the meat, bread and the balance with the sauerkraut, sauce & cheese say a lot about how the restaurant approaches their food. The 02878 is the best Reuben sandwich I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Now I will have to find another go-to for other restaurants because they will pale in comparison to Localz 02878.“

“As half of a hungry, grumpy couple heading north after a wonderful stay in Newport, we were about to give up on finding a 'decent' place for lunch. The Rt. 114 stretch was becoming increasingly barren.

Then The Publick House appeared on our left, with people sitting outside and a welcoming deep green 'home' drawing us in ... a crazy uturn at 65 mph got us there ...

The obvious sports bar atmosphere was very cool, with star-filled photos and jerseys covering every wall -- ALL signed by some of the greatest athletes to play professional sports in the USA -- a veritable paradise for fans and collectors alike.

Well, I've already spent too many words on a long-winded 'intro' ... but the food was over-the-top amazing ... from sweet-fried cauliflower bites to a queso-corn dip with tasty chips ... and fish and chips with fresh haddock ... and a California Bowl topped with perfectly grilled shrimp! Honestly, we were a bit shocked at the quality and the flavors .... and the welcoming service and attention from Nicole -- it was a very big WOW! .... and a perfect ending to our trip.

We will be back some time. And if you haven't had The Publick House ecperience, get there soon -- you will not regret it ...“

And on a minor note, rice and beans should not be combined as some people prefer one to the other“

“Amazing food. We got the raw oysters and clams platter, the Wellington and lobster ravioli. Everything was amazing and the service was excellent. What we remember about it was how it made us feel. Both of us work hard in our professions and to go out to dinner and find wonderful food, excellent and attentive wait staff, and relaxed environment simply made our day. We then came every month at least once mostly twice to enjoy the excellence and serenity at Trafford. Sadly we lost this when the fire occurred for several years. Then absolute joy when Trafford’s reopened and we found the same wonderful food, wonderful staff in a simply beautiful rebuilt building. The joy we felt and the absolute calm and serenity is all back for us. Recently we celebrated my 76th birthday at Trafford with my entire family. It was amazingly special for me and we had our special event upstairs with the entire place devoted to us . Chrissy our server did an awe inspiring service for us making it perhaps one of the most special birthdays I have ever had I have attached a picture of this special moment. I work in the computer software business doing quality assurance 10 hours every day. Being able to calm down and relax completely at Trafford’s is simply a joy for us. “We came into town for lunch and it was perfect. The mussels were plump and seasoned very well with the broth. The broth wasn’t gritty at all but like garlicky silk. Tater tots were seasoned and delicious. My husband had the pastrami sandwich and said it’s the best he’s had which is saying a lot because he’s had Katz Deli in NYC. Service was warm and attentive. Definitely recommend.“

“We’ve had a couple meals at the Helmway and they were delicious! The calamari is crispy and done just right, the harvest salad is excellent! The scallops were done to perfection…sweet and tender. The lobster risotto is excellent too! We had the cinnamon toast bread pudding…just wow!! The wine selection is just right! We’ll definitely go back and highly recommend the Helmway!! “Everytime I’m in Newport, I make it a point to stop by The Red Parrot. Their food and drinks are always great! Unfortunately, I was there yesterday, ordered the sticky wings which are a favorite, looked like the kitchen just poured a container of sesame seeds all over them and were inedible. Bartender did comp one of our drinks, but could have offered to take them back for a new batch or even sent them back before he served them. Was definitely disappointing.“
