Today, I’m sharing my experience at Char Restaurant, located on Highland Street in Memphis. This is a fine dining restaurant, and I chose it to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We made a reservation for two, and everything from the moment we arrived was smooth and welcoming.

We were seated promptly, and the atmosphere was elegant and relaxing, just as you’d expect from a fine dining establishment. The staff were courteous and professional. I don’t recall the name of our server, but he took excellent care of us throughout the evening.

🍽️ What We Ordered:
Fried Chicken (Main Course) – Served with vegetables and gravy, this dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the presentation was spot on.
Shrimp and Grits with French Fries – My friend ordered this and mentioned it was the best she’s ever had. The shrimp were well-cooked, and the grits were creamy and flavorful.
Blueberry Banana Pudding – This dessert was a delightful surprise. I had asked the server to bring it out as a birthday surprise, and he did so perfectly — bringing it out when she wasn’t looking, which made the moment even more special.
💬 Final Thoughts:
We had a wonderful time celebrating, and my friend truly enjoyed her special day. I really appreciate the hospitality and attention to detail shown by the Char team. The food, service, and ambiance all came together to create a memorable experience.

We’re definitely planning to return soon to explore more of the menu.

“I was a first timer and I'm always excited about supporting a black owned business and I told the cashier that but she wasn't friendly or talkative at all, the food was expensive (but what's not these days) but IT WAS SOOO GOOD! I will try once more and hopefully the owner reads this and will speak with cashier about her unfriendly, unconcerned customer service.“

“We do recommend RnRSushi. They have improved their preparation time in the food. I prefer eating at the establishment over delivery but it’s just a personal choice. The food is delicious. It’s my personal favorite for sushi! Prices a bit high but so are most places. Will continue to come eat at RnRSushi!“

“I have been a loyal customer of Jason's since 2019 visiting on different days of the week. I love the salads and the manager's special and the ice cream. today 5/29/22 between 11 am and 12noon.my friends and me in eating and witnessed a group of people who came in with children the boys was about six or seven left at a table to themselves. they played with the salt and pepper shakers stacking and dropping them on the floor even putting them on their noses. the adults said nothing. i brought it to the manager's attention he never addressed the situation. we finally left our concern is do these tables and other things used are properly sanitized. may lose us as customers.?“

“It was raining that day. We went in they sat us by the bar. The fire alarm got struck it kept going off until the fire department got there. Our other friend got there and was seated. The girls at the front that seat people at their table. Were loud and obnoxious. So was our waiter - he was standing behind the bar -being loud with the other ladies. The waitresses that are black never acknowledged or talked with us when when spoke. I have no problem with race. I love everybody - God said we are all God's children. Theat were very rude and loud. We could not hear while talking to each other. I promise I will never go back to the olive garden out east off of 64 hwy. I had better service and quite atmosphere at olive garden in Southaven ms and Jonesboro ar. Something needs to be changed. The girls up front that seat you needs to be quiet and only one at a time- the other need to go where the service people go to wait. The waiter we had no.care in the world because he is hired for good because he knows a little more than the others. I hope the owner or manager sees this. Very upset.“

“Lenny's store in Walmart on Winchester Rd in Memphis, TN need to have hand sanitizer for customer, and the tables wasn't clean at this location, Lenny's do better.“

“I went to Chick-fil-A at South Germantown Rd. Since the moment I crossed that door I felt welcomed. There is a difference in being served and being served with a smile, it opens a new world of comfort and happiness. The treatment was excellent. The food it's good, much better than many other places. Even the drinks were good. They carry it for you to your table. The atmosphere was really nice. I will for sure go back.“

“I would recommend, but the owner needs to make sure each store is consistent. I've only eaten from there 3 times. the one in Southaven I had the salmon combo - delicious, awesome. The one on Walnut I Door Dash for lunch last week and had a double sliders combo for the first time - it was delicious - sandwiches were made as I ordered. I was really impressed! the only the wrong was i ordered carrot cake & got lemon cake instead I don't care for. someone should have called to give me other choices. Today I skipped going to Southaven (who's customer service was excellent) to go back to the Walnut which is 9 minutes from me - bad choice. I ordered online & got my food to come home. should've checked it first - will do IF I go back to that location. got sliders combo will all I had the last time just left cheese off. The patty wasn't half as thick as the one patty I had on the delivered order. I didn't get my grilled onions. I had to open the sandwiches to see if a slice of tomato or lettuce on each - may have been a thin 1/3 of a slixe of tomato on each. I don't even know how to describe the lettuce. The German chocolate cake - deeelicious! I will support again, but service should be the same at all the stores. I know to check my orders even though Southaven shows their customers the order before bagging it. I shouldn't ha e to drive out there when one is closer.Oh your onion rings are the BEST at both locations! And the salmon sandwich - best I've had! I plan to try more on your menu.“

“We have been eating at Wang’s for many years. We have occasionally tried other Chinese restaurants, especially when we travel. We have never found another one that comes close. Their menu is extensive, and they offer a nice wine selection. We always order several of the appetizers because it’s too hard to narrow down our choices. For entrees, we especially like the Ta-Chin chicken, Kung Pao chicken, all the wok tossed options. Delicious food and nice people.“

“For starters, I was placed on hold for twenty minutes before I hung up and called back. I finally got the order placed. I was told I would receive it in around 57 minutes. I called back 1 hour and 30 minutes later and was told it’s coming. Twenty minutes later I called back and the manager answered. I was apologized to and told the driver was about to leave with it. The driver apologized when he arrived and said the other driver neglected to bring my order, so it just sat there. After he left I opened the pizza box to find a cold pizza with a 4” crust around the edge and had sat so long that the bottom was stuck to the box. I called back and was given the run around, so I asked for the manager. The manager offered to make thing right and send a fresh pizza to me. An hour and a half later I’m realizing that the replacement pizza isn’t coming. I’d like to call back again just to see what they say this time, but I guess it’s probably best to bid Marco’s farewell. Way to go and thanks for nothing!“

So impressed by the way the food tasted. I have been to McAlister about 5 to 7 times and I think 🤔 I will make this a usual place to start eating 🍽️. I really like the presentation of food 🍱. It is always so good looking 👀 and ready to be eaten. Food never looks sloppy like some places but the way they present it makes you want to eat it. I will definitely be going back to any of McAlister’s DeLi restaurant anywhere as long as they continue to keep up the good service and presentation of their food 🍱.
