“I have eaten and shared my love of BBQ for years traveling the United States in my job, and living for a time in South Texas enjoying the outstanding Tex Mex cuisine of mesquite wood burning smoked brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, turkey, etc. JR's is a wonderful experience if you are looking for outstanding BBQ, family outing, very professional, friendly staff, with a wide selection of menu options that are simply delicious! I have tried the brisket, pulled pork, chicken, turkey, ribs, mac and cheese, other side dishes, and soups. I have never been disappointed. JR is one of the friendliest, generous, and community- oriented individuals you would ever meet. I have had the opportunity to see his operation from the fire pits in the back, kitchen, and have always been highly impressed with the cleanliness of his facility. That speaks volumes to the importance of not just quality taste, flavor blending of smoke wood meats, but to the importance of food safety. I would highly recommend stopping by and trying the food for yourself as the flavor of mesquite smoked meat is tantalizing to the taste buds, the atmosphere is very friendly/inviting, and the service the best! Suffice it to say that JR and his staff go out of their way to make sure your dining experience is memorable, and enjoyable! P.S. ask JR to let you see the fire pits in the back so you can see where the outstanding BBQ is made. JR is very approachable.“

“Went to the opening today, absolutely great to see it was packed and busy, waited 50min to get my order, which under the circumstances I felt was expected, food was fantastic, mushrooms were exactly how I remembered them, except when I got home was missing my daughters nuggets and my chicken roll, I was devastated, waiting yrs to eat this roll again lol. Staff were fantastic and apologetic for wait. Rang and left msgs but no reply...rrcieved a wrap instead of roll, ill be taking it back tomorrow with receipt as proof, definitely will be back, and definitely recommend, shame order was wrong.ill be back for that chicken roll, can't wait, other than mix up food was fantastic“

“We are here on vacation. We wanted to check out the food. The 1st thing upon entering we were greeted by the friendly staff. They let my grandson taste a few things to see what he liked. The staff were Amazing & food was delicious.“

“Catering by Patriotic Pig for my wedding last Saturday was absolutely fantastic! The staff brought my new husband and I a plate directly to our table and the guests all loved the food! We got to have a private tasting before hand and all of the food was delicious. The staff was so friendly at our wedding and greeted every guest with a smile. If you are looking for BBQ for your wedding or special event look no further than Patriotic Pig! They also did full bussing service, cut our cake for us, and cleaned up at the end of the night! “We were recommended this place by some people in the surrounding area. We were here traveling from Florida and this was hands down the BEST bbq and friendliest staff. Wes and his dad were the most genuine people. We ate here 3 days in a row it was so delicious. The burgers, burnt ends ans pulled pork sandwiches were the best Ive had. If you have room for dessert, the peach cobbler is the way to go.“

“I'm going to tell y'all about my favorite bbq joint, Back Forty Smokehouse, on Main, off Davis, in North Richland Hills. I've been going there a long time and most often, I call in an order to go, but I have also dined in. It's a very nice place and the staff is excellent. I almost always buy the manager's bbq special, their smallest family pack. For $45, you get your choice of meat (1 lb. of sliced, chopped, pork, or many more choices), 3 sides (1 pint each, beans, coleslaw, potato salad, okra, mac n cheese, fries, etc.), 5 Texas toast, pickles, onions, and choice of sauces. The sliced can be moist, lean, or mixed, they have some spicy bbq sauce available, the potato salad isn't sweet, the beans can be sweet baked beans or pintos with bacon, the coleslaw is rough cut and not sweet. These are all good attributes in my eyes. Maybe y'all will think I just don't know better but I'd put their stuff against anyone else's. The sliced is excellent, tender, smoked well, lean if you want it, more fatty if that's your deal. Went there today and got the $45 deal and once again, got enough for my wife and I to easily eat twice. You can fix 5 plates like the one in the photo. That's a regular sized dinner plate, with pintos, coleslaw, potato salad, onions, pickles and sliced brisket. I like a little sauce on mine“

“We hosted my mom’s retirement party at Shady Oaks BBQ with about 40 people, and they made the whole experience so easy—from planning to the party itself. The food was outstanding! The brisket was my favorite, and their suggested “trash can lid” party platters worked perfectly for our group.

Our server, Jenny, was awesome—personable, funny, and great at keeping everything running smoothly. Manager Tom Money was so kind and checked on us several times throughout the event. He even helped me hang our party banner! Those little touches made us feel truly welcome and taken care of.

Everyone had a great time, and I’m so grateful to the team for helping make my mom’s celebration special. Great food, great people, and a wonderful place to host a party!“

“Wow, what a fun place. We were in Fort Worth while on vacation and stopped in after the morning Cattle Drive. Did some shopping in all the very cool shops back there and then stopped in at Riscky's. There were a number of foods we wanted to try in Texas and barbecue was one. So, here we are. Got seated quickly and got super cold drinks (a high priority that day). We both got a chopped brisket sandwich and we were SO glad we did. OMG that was delicious. We don't get barbecue like that in Indiana. We just don't. So, sitting there, enjoying all the taxidermy and all the people having a great time was terrific. We loved it. Exactly what we needed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.“
