“I finally tried their hamburgers after living in Brownsville for 52 years. I was surely missing out. The burgers are simple but full of flavor. The menu is simple. No french fries. They do sell small bags of chips. The location is just a hallway with nine half tables protruding from either wall which accommodate one person on either side. I took my order to go and enjoyed the burgers at home because the inside felt hot and stuffy even though they had air conditioning and ceiling fans. The burgers are worth the trip. Place has been in service since 1922. They must be doing something right.“

“The food and atmosphere give you that old school diner feel. The burgers taste great! The milkshakes are creamy and delcious. The fries, tots, and onion rings are fried to perfection. It was surprisingly good. It took me back to that shopping store diner that used to be at places like Kress and Woolworth. I would definitely recommend this place for a family night out or hanging out with friends.“

“Placed an order through the phone for pickup and when we went to pick it up there was a group of employees just standing , chit chatting , doing nothing, asked about picking up an order and a lady said Karina would help me, but Karina seemed the only one to be working , gave her a tip, for helping. Another employee rolles her eyes at me, just overall bad customer service ***chilaquiles we're soggy“

“Lola's Bistro has become my new favorite place to dine. The food is amazing, fresh and appealing to all the senses. It is pricey, yes. But so worth it. The pear salad is probably my favorite. Along with the crème brûlée. Their mocktails are also to die for.“

“We're from Houston and stopped here for breakfast. Highly recommend it! Very authentic Mexican breakfast and huge homemade flour tortillas! Service was great too! Little hole in the wall, and by far the best! Family of 4 well portioned plates for $34! Cant beat that!“

“Food was delicious and did get good table service. But unfortunately when we wanted to pay for a plate to go separately, the lady at register was visibly annoyed at this request. She was rushing through what was what on waitress ticket, saying what was being charged and I was surprised at final cost. Make sure to ask if your not local on cost if the items and what is included on plate ordered. Any changes added to bill. Food was great, but unfortunately the way they handled the separate bill request, we will look elsewhere for breakfast all day restaurant.“

“I wrote my college thesis on this place, due to it being the best restaurant within 15,000 miles (yes that covers the entire world)and the topic of my college thesis was:"How good can a restaurant get? The Texi Mexi Story"This place might as well be placed on Fifth Avenue in New York City, with prices of $30 per taco, because that's what most people would be willing to pay for this place after they have tried their tacos. Thank Heavens it isn't in New York where all the pretentious foodies would be lining up around the block for what many believe to be the best tacos in Los Fresnos. The prices though... I mean you can't beat 6 dollars for a meal of several tacos, charro beans and chips and salsa, I mean (in the voice of Jimmy from South Park) come on!I come to this place quite often, and by quite often I mean several times a week. I walk in the door, the manager behind the counter gives me a quick wink (not in any weird sexual way, more like a "i'm ready to rock your tastebuds kinda way") I sit down and he automatically knows I want the fajita combo with an horchata. I sit for 5.2 minutes (the perfect amount of time for someone to wait, enough time to think about how you're currently in heaven, but not enough to think it's taking long for your food). Juicy, greasy (in a damn good way) meat on delicious tortillas covered in white cheese, avocado and your choice of red or green salsa. Damn! You've arrived my friends... you've arrived.Anyway to top off my review, I got a 110/100 on my college thesis, you know why? My professor thought it was a dumb topic, gave me a 68/100, and then drove all the way from Idaho to the valley to try these tacos, as soon as he took that first bite, he changed it to 110%. True story y'all.2020 COVID19 edit:These guys are still churning out delicious food to-go at an outrageous pace. Keep them chugging along and patronize them. They deserve it.2021 Edit:KEEP THEM GOING! “The Enchiladas Monterrey that my wife had were more than enough to take home. Large portions. The Durango Quesadilla that I had was very well seasoned with lots of carne asada and cheese. The meals come with soup and dessert. Highly recommend!!“

“Most importantly, the food is great! The decor is nice enough and the drinks are typical for a restaurant. But besides the food, what sets Dirty Al’s apart from the rest it’s their service! Starting from the bar, through the wait staff and ending with the manager, the Brownsville location will do everything in their power to make you feel comfortable. Denise the manager, Karla my waiter, Rick & Clarita my bartenders get special mentions. Great place, great food and a good time. P.S. The daily lunch special is affordable and delicious. Give the a try!“

“Great authentic food here. Delicious and seasoned to perfection. Someone was celebrating a birthday, celebatory music started to blast out of the built in speakers and out came a server with a slice of dessert with a sparkler. I bet that person felt special. It was great to see.“

“If you ever had Bigos, this is a great place to grab and go. It's small inside so not the best for dining in, but totally doable.
The quality of the carne asada cannot be overstated. Even after driving back to the hotel and finding a place to sit and eat (15 min) the food was hot and so tender. Seriously, this is not like many fajita places where you are chewing this like a jerky adjacent product. It's soft flavorful and easy to chew.
Sides were tasty but the meat really steals the show.“

“This is a place that we regularly eat at. They make the dishes the way that you wanted seasoned. I usually get vegetables with either shrimp or chicken. Another dish that I love is the Chicken Almond. All their dishes are great along with their hot teas!“
