I went during lunch break and was the only person in the restaurant for the majority of the time. The food came out very quickly and was piping hot. “Uni Sushi is THE best sushi restaurant in Plano. We’ve been eating here for years, and both the quality and portions of the fish are miles above other restaurants. You can tell they know what they’re doing because their food isn’t dripping in mayo to hide the low quality. The portions are big too. One or two rolls will fill up anyone. Try the chirashi.“

I loved the extensive menu for the different types of Japanese food available but I'm sorry to see that Carlos Pinto (Carlos Jr) may no longer be offering his special tendon tempura since the menu has changed and there is no more sashimi/salmon/tuna bowls. I recently tried his Tendon Tempura in Pasadena, CA and I was looking forward to having more here in DFW because I remembered his logo and saw him in the kitchen before. I hope he will eventually open his own here :)“

“We've been coming here to this location for sometime. Unfortunately this last visit was a little on the not great side. The food is excellent, don't get me wrong. Maybe our server was new but he needs more training to be on the floor on a busy Friday night. He was forgetful and did not come around to check on us and our drinks often enough. I had to flag him down a couple times as my husband just wanted to go get our drinks from the bar. One of the managers came to remove a plate and in his haste to do so, it spilled sauce on mine and my husbands pants, wasn't really happy about that. He brought us napkins and soda water but It would have been nice to compensate the mess with a round of drinks or something. Just felt like it wasn't a big deal to him but it was to me. We were going out after dinner so my pants were stained and wet. I'll chalk this us to just a bad night for the staff but the food is excellent and we will be back. I think we prefer eating at the bar, not the sushi bar as you are very close to the people sitting next to you and it tends to get very loud when the place is packed.“
