“Older restaurant is doing it right! They have no nonsense, honest to goodness, fish and shrimp plates to die for. Fried but not so fried that you taste the bottom of the pan, this is a legitimate threat to other seafood restaurants in the area. They have this down to an art and science. Along with this, they have some of the biggest glasses of sweet tea to order. Then, once you are done, you can ask for a to-go cup to take your drink with you. Previous encounters, they refilled the cup with tea, but alas, that has gone away. This writer is able to overlook this and give the restaurant a five star rating based on the food, the atmosphere (we had a genuine corrida in the middle of eating), and the service.

Parking: Right off of 77 Sunshine Strip between Harlingen and San Benito, near the city limits sign.“

“I thought the food was good. The cocktail and tarter sauces were not that good...very runny. We ordered the shrimp and fish combo and the grilled fish with sauce and rice.“

“This place is great. I'm surprised they dont have higher ratings. The people leaving bad reviews must be haters because the food is always great. It's by far the best seafood restaurant in town. Anyone that says otherwise has poor taste and shouldn't be leaving food reviews.“

“The atmosphere is very nice and we appreciated the accessibility ramp leading to the front entrance. Our server was very attentive and the service was quick.

I originally ordered the chicken picatta. The lemon caper sauce was delicious but unfortunately, the chicken was overcooked and very rubbery. I set my meal aside and continued to interact with my family.

When the server came back I mentioned to her that I didn't want the meal and she could take it off of the check. She apologized and asked if there was something else she could replace it with.

I asked for Fettuccine Alfredo and she asked if I wanted the chicken. I declined out of concern that the quality may be the same and she suggested the shrimp, to which I obliged.

The Shrimp Alfredo was delicious, but by that time the rest of my family had already finished their meals and we were wrapping up to leave.

We grabbed some dessert (chocolate layer cake and limoncello cake). Both were delicious.

Overall, despite the experience with the first meal, the service was excellent and the price was very reasonable considering we had plenty to take home.

I will definitely be back, but will be mindful to avoid chicken dishes going forward.

As a side note: Don't forget to tip your servers, friends. Even if the meal is not what you expected, that's not their fault ?
