“This is my second time visiting this restaurant while I’m in town for work. I’m originally from Houston, but if I’m ever back in the area, I’ll definitely be stopping by again!

First Visit:

For my appetizer, I ordered the Ribeye Aguachile (3/5 ⭐). It was decent, but honestly, not what I expected. The portion was pretty small for the price, so I felt it could have been better.

For my main course, I had the Shrimp Zarandeado (5/5 ⭐), and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were amazing, and the portion was reasonable for the price. The service was a little lacking during this visit, but overall, I left satisfied with the food.

Second Visit:

This time, I decided to sit at the bar, and I’m glad I did!

I started with a Paloma (5/5 ⭐), which was excellent, refreshing, and perfectly made.

For my appetizer, I ordered the Taco de Pulpo Zarandeado (5/5 ⭐), and let me tell you, this was hands down one of the best tacos I’ve ever had! The flavors were incredible, the octopus was delicious, and that blue corn tortilla took it to another level. Every bite was packed with flavor. Definitely worth the price, and something I would highly recommend trying!

For my main course, I went with the Chinese Rice (5/5 ⭐). It was delicious, slightly on the sweeter side, but full of flavor and very filling. The portion was generous for the price, making it a great choice.

The service during my second visit was also a huge improvement. The lady working behind the bar was extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even better.

Overall Experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

This restaurant is definitely on the higher end when it comes to pricing, but in my opinion, the quality of the food and the unique flavors make it worth visiting. Not every dish was a home run, but the ones that stood out were absolutely outstanding.

If you’re in the area and looking for something a little different with bold, delicious flavors, I highly recommend giving this place a try. Personally, I would come back just for that Taco de Pulpo Zarandeado!

“Small Mexican restaurant. I don't think they get tourists there very often. I enjoyed the flavor of the food, but was quite spicey compared to what I usually eat, and it wasn't even listed as being spicey. I think its just safer to assume almost everything there is spicey.

“This place has been my childhood favorite place to eat and I’ve seen go through generations. The prices are very affordable still like good old days. Food is good and now with the upgrades they have given into the place is very nice. My best choice when I come back to town for a visit this is my breakfast spot. ?“

“I went with my family. We all ordered la sopa especial de mariscos and fried oysters as an appetizer. All of us enjoyed our food very much. The place is small and the wait was about 15 minutes but we used the time to look at the menu and be ready to order once we were seated. As soon as you're seated they will bring you a broth and chips.“

Starting from the bar, through the wait staff and ending with the manager, the Brownsville location will do everything in their power to make you feel comfortable. Denise the manager, Karla my waiter, Rick & Clarita my bartenders get special mentions. Great place, great food and a good time. P.S. The daily lunch special is affordable and delicious.
