“You know you’re going to have good food when the servers get excited about your menu decisions. Everything was absolutely wonderful. We got to sit at the bar with a direct view of the kitchen. I don’t know if the octopus or the truffle dumpling was my favorite, but I know I’m getting both when I go back. The whole fried snapper had a delicious light breading. The duck noodles were tasty too; I will probably try to get it spicier next time. I’ll likely be back in a couple of weeks. I’m still thinking about the food. Also, this husband-wife team perfected my experience by ensuring such excellent service. They need to teach a workshop to other restauranteurs.“

“The most affordable, fast and tasty lunch option in the area. It’s a family-owned spot with great lunch specials and options for vegetarians. Highly recommend. It’s more of a takeout spot, but they have a few seats if you need to eat lunch in house“

“This is in my top 3 takeout spots for the Crystal City area. The Mapo Tofu and Stone Pot Tofu Fish dishes are my favorites, but I haven't had anything bad yet. This is not your standard American style Chinese restaurant. The flavors are significantly more interesting. Be prepared for things to be spicy, in a terrific way.“

“Love this place! Happened upon it when I worked close by and went twice in one 3 days! The food is delicious, the ambiance is great, and their little server robot is adorable. The pork soup dumplings were the best I've had since returning to the states. Incredibly rich and meaty! Definitely check this place out!“

“Admittedly I’m inflating my rating because it’s hard to find good, not overly Western fusion-ed, Asian food in DC. I wouldn’t (and can’t) go anywhere else for dry pot and veg mapo tofu. Didn’t care for the dumplings I’ve tried so far but I will definitely continue working my way through the menu. I very much appreciate that this place exists on H St!“

“A must-visit gem in Seven Corners, this unassuming spot is a local favorite known for its authentic Chinese cuisine and generous portions. I decided to try their cumin fish dish, and I was blown away. The fish was cooked to perfection, flaky and tender, and the cumin seasoning was a perfect balance of savory and spicy. If you're a fan of Sichuan cuisine, Hong Kong Palace definitely delivers. Their Mapo tofu is a must-try, with its numbing spiciness and rich flavor. The dumplings are also incredibly delicious, with a thin, chewy skin and a flavorful filling. The service is warm, friendly and attentive, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality experience,“

“Absolutely one of my favorite spots. I order from them regularly (Cameron Station). The Pork Belly and Sesame Tofu are to die for! the Lamb Dumplings also are very good. The Kale Chaat is excellent, and the Lamb Biryani was spicy. delicious and enough for luch the next day after 3 people ate off of it! Will definitely be checking out their $12 bowls! the Indochen in Old Town was too nice! Lamb Josh Rogan was good but I'll stick to the Biryani or try the Vindaloo next!“

“Very clean and great decor, instagram worthy!! The food was simply AMAZING. Authentic and full of flavor and quality. They make the bread buns for the burgers in house ?? I live 45 minutes away and will be back for sure. 100% worth fighting the traffic to get here and I mean that. Also they have some great drink options. The watermelon lime soda was so cute and very tasty!
Parking: Free street parking just behind the block it’s on“

“Good food. The homemade veggie dumplings were also tasty, and the wrappers were not too thick, so I liked them. I love that they use thin noodles for the noodle soup - - so good. It's always helpful to know the types of noodles in a dish. The duck skin was yummy! The gyoza was fried to a nice crisp. The veggie ones were a little spicy and were orangey.. Maybe pumpkin? Here's a pic so you know what to expect. If this review is helpful, please like it. Thanks :)“

I’ve had lunch at Szechuan Star a few times and have also ordered takeout many times, and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. The food and service have always been top-notch, never disappointing. It’s a small restaurant, but it’s clean and cozy, with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and always goes above and beyond, paying attention to every detail to ensure customers are happy.
The food is consistently delicious, and the prices are unbeatable, especially with their lunch specials. For anyone local, this spot is a must-try if you’re craving flavorful Chinese food with excellent service!

“This is some seriously good Ameri-Chinese food. Fresh, flavorful, great portions—all for a respectable price. Yes, it’s carry-out only. Assuming that’s why they’re able to keep the prices so low. But I loved swinging by here on my way home because the family who owns the place are so, so sweet.“

“I went to this based on a Facebook Foodie group recommendation. I concur with their assessment that this place is good.If you want no frills traditional American Chinese takeout, this is the spot. There are only two tables in there, so there's not really a place to eat at unless you have a quick lunch break or go solo.Prices are fair, portions are good, and food tastes great. We had tried 4 dishes: Singapore noodles, eggplant with garlic sauce, Kung pao, and lo mein. They were all good. Food was packed well.I like it. ??“

“I would consider myself a connoisseur of all Asian foods from Chinese to Japanese, Korean ,Vietnamese, Thai and everything in between. House of Foo Ling is definitely a favorite . The owner is so personable and always remembers that I like her soft shell crab dish which is cooked to order and always outstanding. I also enjoy The Egg Foo Yung , Thai Basil Shrimp, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, as well as the Orange chicken or Orange shrimp. I can’t wait to take my family as I know they will enjoy it as much as my best friend and I do. You will never be disappointed.!!! 10/10 ❤️“

“General tso's chicken was actually crispy. For once, I ate the entire chicken with broccoli dinner combo. Perhaps the best chinese-american restaurant for the area, but that standard varies with your taste, sauce preference, spiciness, etc ??♀️“

“I think this place needs higher stars. We're visiting from Florida and made our way to Chinatown and were looking for a decent place to eat. The food and service was excellent. “I'm checking in once a week hahaha a great malatang kwabarou restaurant! The most delicious malatang I had in the DMV area. This time, Kwao Barou also came out and became my favorite malatang restaurant. The owner is so friendly that it's always nice every time I go. Because I can add whatever toppings I want?
Parking: Since it's inside a supermarket, the parking lot is really spacious.“

“This place is a hidden gem. It is constantly visited by people picking up their orders, which means the food is in high demand. If you order off the happy hour menu, you will get a deal compared to other places in the nearby area. I would describe the prices as fair for the DC area.
It is a well-managed venue that still looks shipshape. The ambiance is good for a birthday party or corporate event.
Parking: Free validated parking on the Vermont Avenue side of the garage, not the Westin side.
Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs or steps.“

“The ONLY place in DC I get chinese food from. They have massive portions and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. I always get lo mein, seasame chicken, wonton soup and a taro boba tea. It lasts me for multiple meals which is perfect for my busy schedule. Also, the owner is an absolute gem of a human being. She takes alot of pride in her restaurant and it shows in her kindness, hospitality and delicious food. Thanks for keeping me full and happy!“

“Highly recommend Bostan Uyghur! We started out by ordering the Eggplant Salad as an appetizer. It came out nice and warm fresh from the stove! With its spices and garlicky flavor, it really hit the mark! We then placed orders for the Chicken Kabab and the Dry Fried Soman noodles with beef. Both were spicely complex and absolutely delicious! Have to make another visit soon!“

“Based this experience, I can only give a 'reluctant' 4-stars *only* because the ingredients used were really fresh. Past Peter Chang visits at other locations seem like the entrees were created for tourists and this theme seems to have permeated to this location as well. It's been a mystery on what the Peter Chang created cuisine is meant to celebrate since the Chinese entrees carry marketed Sichuan or Chengdu flavors that are very muted, lackluster, and just brand-name expensive.
What is carrying the 4-star is the use of very fresh ingredients which is an absolute must if a restaurant wants to survive in this super-affluent McLean neighborhood; otherwise, I would have assigned a 3-star rating. We ordered the Dry-spicy combo hot pot, Chengdu seafood with crispy rice, Dragon eggplang with garlic sauce, and Amish duck bone soup with pickled radish.
What made dinner enjoyable? ..... the highly considerate staff. Again, good staff service would be a must in this affluent McLean neighborhood. Other than fresh ingredients and considerate service, I can pass on visiting Peter Chang moving forward.
Why pass on Peter Chang for me? We ordered the most Sichuan/Chengu spicy entree and nothing was ma-la/chengdu/sichuan spicy at all (this was the biggest let down of the entire dinner). The eggplant was cloyingly, aggressively too sweet. The Amish duck soup was supremely salty. And the Chengdu seafood entree was only adequate. Now the plating is another awkward story. The plating for all dishes were not practical at all and the spoon utensil seems more for show than ladling any liquid at the bottom of the bowl or plate. The dry hot pot swiveled like a gryoscope whenever you are mixing ingredients to prevent burnt food at the bottom. The huge bowl for the Chengdu seafood had such a small base, it could tip at any moment. Come to think of it, the plating and dishware seem to be prioritized higher than the flavor of the food. On top of all this, the price for each entree is nose-bleed high for the lack of authenticity in the entree recipes. To add insult to injury, each bowl of white rice was billed separately and didn't come with ordered entrees.“

“We came on a Saturday morning to try it out and were surprised it wasn’t busy at all. We ordered the dragon phoenix soup to start and it was good. I love the crispies they give you with the soup. The half Peking duck was delicious. Went great with the sauce and leek pancake. The pan fried noodle was delicious. The crispy noodle tasted better than the ones I’ve had at other places. Service was very friendly and attentive.“

“Best decision I made today was reconnecting to Chinese food again thanks to Eastern!! Not only are the deals and service amazing but the quality and taste of the food is phenomenal not to mention the quantity of the food is just mind blowing. I went for lunch and the first thing I noticed was how clean it was, I mean spick and span. As I walked up to pick up my food I was greeted with such kindness. I definitely will be coming here more now that I’m able to eat Chinese again!! Mind you this is Lunch size portion Hunan tofu with fried rice.“

“Brunch menu on their website hadn’t been updated, it’s now 75 minutes for bottomless brunch but the website says 90. They also wouldn’t give our table more than 1 brunch menu, but then the food on their website menu is wrong so you can’t even reliably reference that. Food was great, but you should order the bulk up front rather than trying to do multiple rounds because things can take up to 30 minutes to come out.“

“Kenny’s is a really solid carry out. The food is good. Not a ton of space to sit, which is typical of most Chinese food spots in this region. What stands out most about Kenny’s is the service. Unlike others, they don’t treat their customers like criminals, or like they’re afraid of us. The door to the back area is frequently opened. The employees greet me with a smile every time and ask me how my day is going. They remember me. They’re really kind and respectful, and as a black man, it’s rare to get that kind of service at a carry out. They usually just yell and poke food through bullet proof glass like they’re feeding sharks. It’s great to be treated like a fellow human being. I recommend the donuts. They’re super addictive!“

“I've ordered from this place sooo much. I always get the sashimi, I usually get the sashimi platter. This last time I got the sashimi appetizer + vegetable dumplings. I have learned that this is one of the sushi places that plays with the term, "white fish." Some places use it for white tuna, some use it for yellowtail etc. I got the sushimi appetizer as it was advertised as salmon, tuna, and white fish--my favorites, except not the white fish I wanted lol. This was more translucent, and half-pink. That was my gamble. Can't really tell what the white sashimi I get in the platter is, I think its white tuna, but I won't make the mistake again.Nice, solid slices of shaved ginger. Good if you're sick! I do wish the sashimi came with a condiment cup like the veggie dumplings did. Veggie dumplings were fine, nice and plump. Also love that the place is open late--I've been a night owl my whole life, so works for me!5 stars overall. I've only been in-person once, and it was very pleasant. You need to be let in, which doesn't take long. Lots of randos wandering around Chinatown so I get it.“

“Great place for a quick bite. Very small inside but most people just grab food and go so there was room to sit down and eat. Went during lunch time and all the food looked fresh and it was delicious. Ended up going with two plates to share. Walnut shrimp and mushroom chicken with rice...and noodles with orange chicken and teriyaki chicken, all were very good and very tasty.“
