“One of the best seafood boils I’ve had in a long time. Everything was cooked perfectly. It was so easy to get out big chunks of crab without much hassle. The server was very attentive and brought use extra butter without asking. I tried fried oysters for the first time, they were so crispy and well seasoned. The atmosphere inside was nice and cozy. Wouldn’t be able to tell how fire this place is from the outside. 10/10 recommend, go get yourself some seafood!“

“This place is so unassuming but so great! The staff we spoke to were lovely, so welcoming, and gave great recommendations. Such amazing flavours and everything tastes so fresh. The tofu lemongrass noodle bowl is delicious. The lemongrass pork banh mi is also fantastic. We had the peach tea and strawberry lemonade and took the advice to add bobas and lychee jelly.
Good portions - enough to be full but not so much that it feels wasted. Good prices too. We will be coming back to try more things!“

“I was in Richmond for a few hours, so I decided to try Sugar's Crab Shack. I really didn't have high expectations due to some of the reviews. I am glad that I stopped by because I really enjoyed the food. I had the whiting salad, fried shrimp, and I tried the deviled crab cake. I really enjoyed everything and will be back. The employees were also very friendly and helpful.“

“On 08/03/2022, my wife and I brought our cousins here to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The food and service was excellent. Our waiter was Sean. HOWEVER, during the reservation process, I was asked at least twice if there was a celebration and if so what type. I indicated on both occasions that it was a anniversary. I just assumed that when I was asked about the occasion that this occasion would somehow be acknowledged. It wasn't. (Happy anniversary). I heard the waiter at the table next to ours wish the celebrants a happy anniversary. Also, based on other reviews on this site, I noticed that a dessert was given to the celebrants as a memento. Not to our party. As I said, the service and food were excellent but missing the little "happy anniversary" left me and my wife feeling a little empty.“

“A solid 4 out of five. The wings are good the mango habanero sauce is great. However the wings are a little dry I guess overcooked. The rice bowls are very tasty chicken and lamb are a favorite. Decent pricing across the board and I will definitely return.

“We tried Burtons tonight for my wife's birthday, and couldn't have been happier with out choice! The restaurant had a lively atmosphere - but felt really cozy and inviting. The food was absolutely amazing. From the calamari to steak and the lobster role, everything we had was delicious. A huge shout-out to our waiter, Robert, and Tristan, who made our dining experience fantastic!“

“Ordered online for a 4:00 PM pickup on April 8, 2025 (Order #92, Online Order #1623683), and everything was ready right on time. The drive-thru service was super friendly, and the young lady who helped me was awesome—so polite and upbeat.

I don’t usually go to Captain D’s, but this visit might just change that. The food—Fish Sandwich, Oysters, and Fish & Shrimp—was seriously delicious. I’m already thinking about coming back soon!

“I'm just here to add another 5 stars! Hands down probably the best Mexican I've had, either this or Chociloco in Scott's Addition. I got the Burrito Macho Esteban and it's spicy! Full of flavor and I will go back. The prices aren't bad to begin with but the huge portion size I got made it even better! I was referred here by three friends and today was the day. You'll never see the restaurant from the road and probably pass by it a million times and not notice. I feel bad for them, if they were in a more visible spot they would probably be slammed with business all the time. However, don't let this detour you, the restaurant itself is not difficult to access. I will be back!!“

We decided to order the 14 ounce Dry Aged ribeye with perfectly cooked red potatoes for our main course. The entree was accompanied by a caramelized onion steak sauce. There was a couple walking up the stairs in front of us as we went in, and when we got to the door, a waitress said “I need that cup” and yanked it out of the woman’s hand as she walked off. She was the same waitress that sat us, but not who took our order. The waitress who took our order was extremely rude almost the entire time. A couple of times she brought food out and put it on our table AS she’s walking by. I stopped her once, to ask if we could have our bread warmed as it was cold. She barely stopped as she said “no.” And continued walking. The waitresses were rude and made me feel so uncomfortable with their terrible attitudes. Atmosphere is a little cramped but it was fine. The food was AMAZING though. It was really hot, and the pasta portions were GENEROUS.“

“I can’t say enough good things about this little hidden jewel of a restaurant. The food and drinks are outstanding. The service is friendly and prompt. The restaurant itself is lovely and spotless. My only complaint is that it is hidden behind a berm on Hull Street and it is confusing because it faces Hull Street but must be entered through the shopping center parking lot…..but it is well worth your time to seek it out.“

“Came in before a show at the Camel. Service was wonderful. Amongst myself and company we tried the oysters, fish chowder, chicken wings, trout de florentine (sp?), and three of the cocktails which I forget the names of but they were delicious. Lovely experience and bartenders were especially hospitable (we sat at the bar).

Def plan to return. Oysters were great. Very few places in town have actual choices in selection.

Parking: Not sure about designated parking. Found some street parking within a block or so.“

“We left our brother's after a cookout, and our son was hungry??‍♀️. McDonald's is not an option, and instead of Royal Farms or stopping in the city, we decided to stop here, and get crab legs. It was $20, and they seasoned and steamed them for us. We took them home, melted our own butter, and my son and I ate our fill! They were delicious! Thankfully, Dad just cracks them, and doesn't eat them. Thankful that we visited, and will keep it as an option in the future.“
