This was the best seafood restaurant I have ever been to. The food was incredible and so is the service. Everyone was so sweet. They let us try the soup before buying it to make sure we liked it. The lobster roll, hush puppies (recommended by front server) and lobster bisque was out of this world. Will definitely need to come back here every time in Washington. Even got lollipops on the way out. So great!!!“

“This was my first visit to this restaurant. I went because they participated in DC’s Restaurant Week for lunch. I chose it among many other restaurants because the lunch menu choices looked great. In fact, all three courses were delicious. I went as a solo female diner. I had asked my waiter when he took my order to leave the menu so I could decide on a drink later. My waiter never returned to take my drink order. I decided to forego having a glass of wine (since no waiter returned) and just have coffee with the dessert. However, not one waiter looked at me for the 5 minutes my hand was up. The table of 4 next to me did get wonderful attention by waiters. For me, however, no one asked me how my meal was. I finally flagged down a runner to order a coffee.

I was also disappointed that there was a credit card charge. I looked at their website when I returned home and never found text mentioning that extra charge. How can customers make an informed decision to bring cash if we don’t know about a credit card surcharge beforehand? It really is uncommon for DC customers to carry large amounts of cash these days. I recommend the restaurant rectify this.“

“What an experience! I came from Alabama on a work trip. My fellow employees and I were trying to find a seafood restaurant and stumbled upon this restaurant on a Wednesday. And boy did we hit the jackpot! The food was amazing first off. Second off, we had been wanting to do karaoke and there was a DJ! We sang at the table while we were eating and had such an amazing time. The atmosphere is phenomenal! The braised lamb shoulder which Yacine suggested was the undeniable highlight of the meal I which each dish was excellent. Tender and flavorful, it was paired beautifully with texture. It’s a signature dish that rivals the best we’ve ever had, bringing to mind the legendary Bo Ssam pork shoulder from David Chang’s Momofuku— bold, unforgettable, and expertly prepared. The Gormeh Sabzi, short rib stew with its delicious sour depth, was excellent but couldn’t quite match the lamb’s showstopping brilliance. Two very minor points. While the food and service are exceptional, the main dining room lighting would benefit from dimming. A water filtration water system could make a big difference as well. JOON has firmly secured its place as a must-visit dining destination for us. We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu.“

The wait staff is also excellent, remembering favorite drinks and entrees. I cannot praise any other restaurant higher than the Capital Grille at Tysons, but we also feel this same way about Mr Jon Levine at the Scottsdale Capital Grille as well. Mr. Levine started at the Tysons Corner location, and became a managing partner in Scottsdale, providing the same excellence in service. Three cheers, Darden. Do yourself a favor and get extra bread to dip in the broth, you won’t be sorry! We didn’t have them on this visit, but one of the must try’s in my opinion is the Lobster Poutine! AMAZING! The amount of lobster in this dish at the price point of under $20 is OUTRAGEOUS in the very best sense of the word! The whiskey offerings at this establishment are some of the best that I have seen. I literally discovered one of very favorite bourbons here, Jefferson’s Ocean! The selections range from your basic line up, interesting new finds and hard to get must try’s. The man behind this whiskey magic is Edward, the bartender/manager. Edward is knowledgeable and loves to talk about his offerings, so don’t be shy, ask questions and be prepared to learn a little something! We have enjoyed everything from their brunch offerings, seafood and burgers! Wine to whiskey and everything in between and have never been disappointed! We recently moved, and now have to brave 45 minutes of Beltway traffic (and that’s on a good day as we all know..lol) to get to this spot. So if you good food, attentive service and an amazing selection of whiskey are your thing, trust me when I tell you this is the place for you!“
