While the restaurant has an extensive list of wines by the bottle, the by the glass selection should be enhanced for this level of restaurant. In addition, it would be prudent for The Capital Grill to carry a prime selection of half bottles, 375's, so solo wine lovers can enjoy a bottle with their meal.“

“Today my husband and I had the opportunity to dine at Fleming. The staff was AMAZING! Matt, the manager was on top of every request, need, and want. As soon as anyone in the restaurant needed anything, we witnessed him assisting the service staff to make sure that it was done immediately. He is the type of manager that people dream of! Wish he were on my team. Luis was our server and was great! He was on top of our every need, was attentive, and easily on of the best servers I've ever had. To round out the team, Juan was behind Luis with any additional support that we needed. Quiet professional with great service; Quick, fast, and in a hurry. The ambiance of the restaurant is hard to find in DC. It was quiet enough for a one on one conversation, but energetic enough to make sure that we were not bored. The food was top notch! My stomach hurts because I should have tapped out 15 minutes ago but the food was too good to stop. I'd recommend the Leviathan wine and tomahawk steak. We are big eaters and could not finish our salads and soup, steak, or desserts! My husband highly recommends the French onion soup, Mac and cheese, and Brussels sprouts. This was the best seafood restaurant I have ever been to. The food was incredible and so is the service. Everyone was so sweet. They let us try the soup before buying it to make sure we liked it. The lobster roll, hush puppies (recommended by front server) and lobster bisque was out of this world. Will definitely need to come back here every time in Washington. Even got lollipops on the way out. So great!!!“

“This was my first visit to this restaurant. I went because they participated in DC’s Restaurant Week for lunch. I chose it among many other restaurants because the lunch menu choices looked great. In fact, all three courses were delicious. I went as a solo female diner. I had asked my waiter when he took my order to leave the menu so I could decide on a drink later. My waiter never returned to take my drink order. I decided to forego having a glass of wine (since no waiter returned) and just have coffee with the dessert. However, not one waiter looked at me for the 5 minutes my hand was up. The table of 4 next to me did get wonderful attention by waiters. For me, however, no one asked me how my meal was. I finally flagged down a runner to order a coffee.

I was also disappointed that there was a credit card charge. I looked at their website when I returned home and never found text mentioning that extra charge. How can customers make an informed decision to bring cash if we don’t know about a credit card surcharge beforehand? It really is uncommon for DC customers to carry large amounts of cash these days. I recommend the restaurant rectify this.“

“I consider Jackie and the crew at Hook & Reel Wheaton to be friends of mine. I work close by and pop in at the bar often. The Happy Hour, which starts at 1PM (yes, you read that correctly) has insanely low prices, and the "pour" on both glasses of wine and cocktails are unmatched. Great ambience, clean as a whistle, a ton of regulars at the bar and a Touchtunes jukebox on the wall to bring your own soundtrack with you. What's not to LOVE about this place? 🍷🍹🥂🍻🦀“

“Was SUPERB. I have personally never had Filipino food so I didn’t know what to expect, and wow. Our server was the cutest woman, who was extremely attentive and remembered everyone’s orders and placement. She really has an incredible detail orientated memory. The food was incredible. The flavors in each dish were top notch. I had leftover tofu and mushrooms the next day and I’m sad I didn’t have more after that. Such a quaint little spot but it PACKS a punch. “What an experience! I came from Alabama on a work trip. My fellow employees and I were trying to find a seafood restaurant and stumbled upon this restaurant on a Wednesday. And boy did we hit the jackpot! The food was amazing first off. Second off, we had been wanting to do karaoke and there was a DJ! I ordered a seafood boil over the phone, I was told it would be ready in 25 min once I arrived I was greeted and told to have a seat it would be another 5 minutes which was fine. The boil came in a box and like a foil dish which I wasn’t use to but it was fine, the taste was cool. I liked it.“

I actually haven’t been here in a quite a while, but this time I came for dinner with my mom, my husband and my son (6 months old). This was our first time visiting Old Town Alexandria, and while we originally had another restaurant in mind, Vola’s won us over with its waterfront location and inviting menu. We were told the wait would be 25 minutes, but we were seated in just 15, already a great start. The staff was warm, friendly, and helpful with recommendations throughout the meal, making us feel right at home.

Taste:
We started with the crab hush puppies and oysters, both were so flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and reasonably priced. For our main course, we had the shrimp and grits and the fish and chips. Both dishes were fresh, satisfying, and generously portioned. Every bite was devoured. The drink of the night was a summer Prosecco and passion fruit special, light, refreshing, and delicious. The best part? The refill was cheaper. More restaurants should definitely take notes on that.

Ambiance:
Vola’s has the perfect laid-back yet elevated waterfront vibe. The view of the water, paired with a lively but not overwhelming crowd, made for a relaxed and memorable evening. It’s great for first-timers to Old Town, date nights, or a dinner out with friends.
