“I’ve been wanting to check this place out for awhile. We stopped by this past Friday night to grab dessert on the way home after having dinner in shockoe bottom. Felt welcome as soon as we walked in. I could see this is a spot locals love. I let her know my son only wanted dessert and she didn’t hesitate to recommend Momma Doc’s. He ended up ordering the brownie sundae. Let me tell you, it must’ve been delicious cause he scarfed it down like he hadn’t eaten all night 😂. We will definitely be back. The menu was extensive, and the vibe was chill.“

“We stopped in on our way through Richmond for lunch. It's a cute little local spot, lots of families and friendly faces. The staff was kind, and our food was served promptly. My husband enjoyed his veggie burger, and I loved my cheeseburger and cappucino ice cream.“

“Sub Rosa is THE bakery in Richmond! I live about 2 hours away and always make sure I stop by when I’m passing by. It’s about half a mile off the highway, so it’s easy. There’s no parking lot, so finding parking can be an issue, but don’t let that discourage you!

The bread and baked goods are as close to being in Europe as I’ve found (I lived abroad for 8 years). Crusts are light, flaky and leave a little butter on your lips. Everything is fresh and full of flavor. Staff is always friendly and welcoming.

They serve and sell both Recluse and Afterglow coffee - both are excellent local beans.

There are so many options for sweet and savory and my husband and I both found tasty options. The waffles are big and fully loaded, so I'd recommend ordering a half waffle and the specialty fraffle was very tasty as well.“

I’m always in the mood for all-day breakfast items when I’m on a work trip, so I tried the pork sausage, egg and cheese on sourdough toast, and a delicious latte. Food and coffee were outstanding. It’s obvious the staff puts care in the prep of every sandwich. The toast was toasted perfectly with the right amount of crunch, eggs were lightly seasoned with pepper before whisking, and the cheese was nice and “melty”. “Stopped in with my mom around 1 for some drinks and lunch and everything was FANTASTIC. Omar was our server. Super cool dude and a hustler. I got the passion fruit limeade and it was so good i went back for another. My mom loved her watermelon margarita as well. Food was also terrific. I got the steak tacos and she got the mushrooms. Both were cooked perfectly and I was sorta jealous because of how good the mushrooms tasted lol. definitely recommend giving this place a shot. “We come here every Saturday. Court is a waiter and bartender there that always hooks us up with the latest and greatest whiskey and bourbons. He texts us when new stuff comes in! We love this restaurant. Great food and excellent service!“

“Not much on atmosphere, but the food is absolutely delicious. Ordered fries late on Wednesday and they were nicely seasoned. Came back Friday, July 3rd 2026 for a chicken shawarma platter and had it with tabbouleh and hummus (also ordered baba ghaoush) . Pita was hot and very good… they were out of markouk bread. Hope they have it next time. Everything is super fresh and flavorful. The tabbouleh is like 1% grains and the rest herbs and tomato and chopped lettuce… very good and refreshing on a hot day.

They never look full or busy, but I hope this changes. Or they do a bang-up takeout business. This is a great addition to the neighborhood!!!“

“This cafe feels like the type of place where you can sit alone without feeling awkward. I came in around 4 PM with headphones and a book, and nobody bothered me even though I stayed quite a while. The hazelnut latte was smooth and not burnt tasting like some coffee shops nearby. I also liked that they kept the music at a normal volume. The only small issue was one chair near my table being shaky, but a staff member swapped it out after noticing me adjusting it repeatedly. Thoughtful service overall.“

The tacos were incredible—full of flavor, perfectly prepared, and truly authentic Mexican tacos. You can immediately tell the difference in quality compared to many other places. I’ve tried tacos from a wide range of restaurants, and this spot easily ranks as one of the best I’ve had.

Everything tasted fresh and homemade, which really stood out. The ingredients were well-balanced, the meats were cooked perfectly, and the toppings complemented each taco without overpowering it. “Ninja is an incredibly unique and incredibly great tasting kombucha. I’ve lived many places in Virginia, and this is the best one I’ve had. I even prefer it over Health Ade, Forage, Rowdy Mermaid and Dr. Brew (I’ve tried a bunch). The owner pays particular attention to the formulation, making it so much better than those others I’ve tried. With many unique flavors in its line, I highly recommend!“

“My doordash driver was pretty late delivering this to me, but I still got my combo platter piping hot. Got a rather hefty chicken & gyro platter with some pita bread, and it was delicious. The meats and the basmati rice were seasoned, and the cubed cucumbers were a nice crunchy contrast. It's a great spot in the city, and the price isn't bad either. An additional big plus for this joint is that it's open pretty late, and the food is exactly what you need to avoid or cure potential hangovers.“
