“What an experience! I came from Alabama on a work trip. My fellow employees and I were trying to find a seafood restaurant and stumbled upon this restaurant on a Wednesday. And boy did we hit the jackpot! The food was amazing first off. Second off, we had been wanting to do karaoke and there was a DJ! We sang at the table while we were eating and had such an amazing time. The atmosphere is phenomenal! We ended up dancing on the floor to a few songs before we left 😂 Thank you Hook & Reel for such an amazing experience. The next time we are in the area we are FOR SURE coming back!“

I ordered a seafood boil over the phone, I was told it would be ready in 25 min once I arrived I was greeted and told to have a seat it would be another 5 minutes which was fine. The boil came in a box and like a foil dish which I wasn’t use to but it was fine, the taste was cool. I liked it.“

I actually haven’t been here in a quite a while, but this time I came for dinner with my mom, my husband and my son (6 months old). There was a promo and the cashier helped us in figuring in the promo for all our orders. The food was delicious as always, and the young man that brought our food was so kind. It’s a signature dish that rivals the best we’ve ever had, bringing to mind the legendary Bo Ssam pork shoulder from David Chang’s Momofuku— bold, unforgettable, and expertly prepared. The Gormeh Sabzi, short rib stew with its delicious sour depth, was excellent but couldn’t quite match the lamb’s showstopping brilliance. Two very minor points. While the food and service are exceptional, the main dining room lighting would benefit from dimming. A water filtration water system could make a big difference as well. JOON has firmly secured its place as a must-visit dining destination for us. We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu.“

The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the egg rolls can sometimes be a bit greasy, but tastes really good.

This was my first time ordering from this restaurant and I'm not gonna lie, I was very skeptical when I saw there was a soul food restaurant on this side of the DMV area. Most often when I see a place selling soul food in this area, my expectations are low and my disappointment is high. However, when I talked to the gentleman behind the counter while he poured a bowl of butter over the candy yams, I thought this place might have a chance. And, Lord have mercy, I was right to give this place a chance. I was not disappointed at all. It was everything soul food is supposed to be: seasoned, flavorful and unhealthy if you have high cholesterol, or blood pressure.
