“We love the Essex and come here every time we travel to VT. The staff are responsive and friendly, the rooms are clean, cozy, and comfy. The one warning we would give is to say that the price that you book for is nowhere near what you get charged for at checkout. There are extra add on charges on the bill that “tax” your imagination. Just be sure to ask up front.“

“My Fiancé and I had our first experience at Hen of the Wood in Burlington, what an incredible time we had! We just got engaged and had to celebrate. I decided to get the pork loin, and it was delicious! My fiancé loved his steak. It was perfection. Our waitress was amazing and so thoughtful. She made sure we had everything we needed and was very helpful. the atmosphere was casual yet somewhat formal and we had a blast! Can't forget about how scrumptious those rolls were too! “We arrived on a Monday night and only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. We had a both in the bar area that was very comfortable. Our server was very friendly and brought drinks quickly. We got a hot honey pepperoni sausage and bacon pizza which was really good! They didn't overdo the hot honey so it wasn't too sweet, but it added a nice flavor. The meats were quality, it was a thin crust and there was additional cheese and fresh basil leaves on top. So good! The kids got chicken nachos and said the chicken was very flavorful, and the nachos were loaded with veggies. A little pricey, (about $85 before tip for a pizza, nachos and drinks) but overall a very positive experience!“

“I have been a customer of New World Tortilla for many year and hundreds of burritos. The tortillas are the best in the country. We have tried tortillas throughout the Southwest but nothing compares to New World. Also, they are amazingly consistent.
I get the chicken Vera Cruz almost every time I visit and it is always awesome. The staff are also very friendly and accommodating. Overall, this is an excellent Restaurant.“

“I stopped there recently with my girlfriend and we both had western omelets that were fantastic. Mine was the best omelet I've had in quite a time. The eggs were fluffy and seasoned very well and all of the other ingredients were fresh and flavorful. We ordered directly from the cook who was very friendly and kind, in a cute little dining room that was playing the classics and was so quaint, homey, charming and friendly that we've already sworn we would go back. I cannot recommend highly enough. Please check it out, you won't be disappointed!“

Can't take coupons at the bar unless there is a manager present, so that's annoying.It's an overpriced restaurant for the quality of food they serve but it's a game center so people will still buy. “Super-fun experience at the culinary experience at the Essex Resort in Essex, VT. Our instructor, Denise, led us through the recipes and techniques to create a wonderful Vermont dinner that included roasted root vegetables, braised chicken (in dark beer and demi-glacé) with shallots and a variety of mushrooms, and a lovely kale salad. We were given the opportunity to decorate autumn themed sugar cookies as well as dip tiny apples into a luscious caramel coating. A small group of 9 students made the experience very intimate. Our meal was served with wine and fresh bread accompanied by an herbed compound butter. Denise was a perfect instructor and I would recommend the experience to anyone who loves to cook.“

“On our latest trip to Vermont, we enjoyed a wonderful meal at Dutch Mill & highly recommend it for breakfast and lunch. Our waitress, Jane, was a joy! The service was fast and the food arrived quickly. Jane was knowledgeable about the area and gave several suggestions regarding activities we might enjoy. We visited some area attractions based on her recommendations and they did not disappoint!! We will definitely be returning to the Dutch Mill on our next trip through VT!“

“I visited this place recently and overall had a good experience. The location is nice, with a beautiful outdoor view that really adds to the atmosphere. Parking is limited though, with only a small space available, including a small bike parking/locking area.

The burger was juicy and very good in taste, but it seemed like it was prepared a bit in a rush. The ingredients were falling out between the buns, giving it a slightly unfinished look. With a little more attention to presentation, it could have been excellent.

The best part, however, is the ice cream – it’s high quality and makes for a perfect treat after the meal.

Overall, the place has potential, and with the good food, ice cream, and great view, it’s definitely worth a visit.“

It was wonderful to taste some food with actual spice in it, but the winner was the chocolate maple porter they brew on location. “Dinner was amazing, we ordered shrimp cocktail and Mussels as an appetizer and both were extremely fresh and yummy. For dinner we both got Filet mignon cooked to perfection. Service was smooth and attentive. One of the best steak houses we have been to in a while.“
