“Wow! Where to start... First is the oyster happy hour. Great prices and all regional oysters from local farms. If you are there for happy hour at least a dozen is a must. From the menu we had two crudo (scallop and albacore) and each had such interesting flavors. The scallop included some vanilla in the oil that pairs perfectly, and also included sea buckthorn which was new to us but was delicious. Finally we also had the clams and muscles which were excellent but the focaccia bread was the clear winner.... The staff were very friendly and the restaurant space was very comfortable. Definitely a spot we will be returning to!“

“When I walked into Holy Water, I felt like I’d stepped inside my favorite kooky aunt’s house. She was the black sheep of the family who made me laugh a little too much when we were forced to go to church to appease my grandmother. Eventually, we were forbidden to sit next to one another because we’d both be in tears and giggling so loudly that the entire congregation would turn to stare us down. That sort of irreverent (yet respectful and funny) vibe is part of Holy Water’s DNA. This place immediately makes you feel welcome. It doesn’t take itself too seriously- that is except for the food. If only my kooky aunt was as good a cook… The staff is amazing. They were patient when my lunch companion had to make some bizarre alterations to his order. (He’d just had a wisdom tooth pulled a couple of days before and needed softer foods.) When we were ready to leave and still had way too much food on our plates, a staff member saw the look of surrender on our face and quickly boxed up the remainders and told us that she’d added some extra gravy (yum!) for us to take home. (Who doesn’t love extra sausage gravy?) I love this place. The food is great but what really makes this spot shine is the people. I can’t wait to go back.“

“I always have a fun time at the Bethel Saloon! The drinks are good, the beer is cold, and they have the best (homemade) Clam Chowder on Fridays! (OMG! Soooo good!) ? On Thursday evenings come play " Bar Stool Bingo!", hosted by my cousin Joyce! “Stopped in for Happy Hour at Rupee. Now—we are Rupee Groupies!!! Had 4 small plates, dessert (the Love Cake), and chai, as well as a craft mango and lemon soda and a ginger beer. This is possibly the best meal we have had in Seattle in some time! The entire meal was like a symphony of flavors, each adding a distinct character and together, like heavenly music. “My gf and I were in the area and decided to stop by here as we like Thai food and it was a newer restaurant in the area. I expected this place to have the usual Thai choices, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not only do they have the popular choices, but they also do have unique items that you can't get at usual Thai restaurants. We like trying new things, so we decided to order the grilled steak, pork jowl, Kra Pao, Rad Nah, and the Mango Sticky Rice. They were all really good especially the Rad Nah and Pork Jowl. We also tried the soup for the Nam Ngiew which I will be going back to try next time. The mango sticky rice to top off the night was Fire. I would definitely recommend going here if you want to try something different and I love that the menu is big enough where you can try new things each time you go. The price is very reasonable too. I for one, am definitely going back and bringing my friends.“

“I’ve lived on Alki since 1989. I’ve seen many restaurants come and go from this location. Lotus on the Beach is the best of them all. The ability to pick from a variety of Vietnamese and Thai dishes is its strength. The owner and staff welcome any and all critiques of the food and service.“

“I've been visiting the little tin since they opened. Super drinks, great staff and a relaxed comfy atmosphere. Drinks are often perfection or on the edge of it. I've never had a bad cocktail.“

The cranes on one end of each lock are there in case any of the lock gates fail, to lower temporary flow impeders across the lock and prevent the lake level from dropping until repairs can be made. The fish ladder and observation room were interesting, but would be awesome to visit during fish migration season.“
