“I've been searching for a good seared salmon nigiri in the area but haven't had any luck. Most of the sushi places we visit don't even offer it on their menu. However, this spot has the perfect seared salmon nigiri. I'll definitely be returning here for more.“
“Best buffet I have been to yet! Food/sushi is fresh and tastes delicious. The service is great, and you feel welcome. A couple of women love interacting with my baby and remember us, which is warming. The building is clean and had a very lovely decor. 100% recommend for a buffet!“
“This is the best Chicken ? Teriyaki by far in the City of Tacoma ? This is a local family owned business. Very clean and excellent customer service skillset by the owners and their kid's that works at Hot ? Teriyaki on 72nd Street and Portland Ave E. You can call ? head and they will have it ready for you to take home if you like. They have a Sushi ? Sensei there also and it's amazing and clean as the board of health ??♂️?It's all about love in this world ? People. Go to Hot Teriyaki ?.Peace Farmer J“
“Tried this place for the first time because I noticed they had teriyaki salmon. This is the best teriyaki/sushi place I’ve ever had. We did take out. My husband had to wait a bit for food since it was a busy Valentine’s Day evening, and the host was so kind. The chicken teriyaki was moist and very flavorful. Mongolian beef was the best I’ve ever had. They also threw in valentines treats for us which made my night.“
“This place is excellent! We had two California rolls, gyoza, and spicy teriyaki. All super yummy.I loved that the spicy chicken teriyaki had the vegetables mixed in instead of the side. I love spicy food so take this with a grain of salt but I'm calling this heat slightly over mild, but not quite medium. It is a comfortable little kick ?️ I didn't think I would like the rolls since the rice looked thinner than I'm used to but the flavor was absolutely there! I also got the regular fried gyoza ? which was awesome (dipping sauce too), but there is also steamed on the menu if you rather. My order was pickup so I didn't interact with the staff much, but they were all super welcoming and friendly when I walked in.We will be back for sure!!“
“I was able to make a dinner reservation on the day of. I ordered some nigiri and rolls (one deep fried and one fresh salmon roll). Rolls were okay, but was not worth 20 dollars each. On the other hand, sashimi and nigiri were very fresh and delicious. I highly recommend amaebi and salmon nigiri. Parking was not difficult. I just parked by the Y and walked a block or two down.“
“Recommend, the chicken teriyaki is a go to for clean healthy food. (Chicken and rice.) Got the Gyoza and the Crab kampoon to try, very good the crab was extremely good. They also have punch cards, buy 9 plates and get one free. As well, they have Boba teas, lattes and sorts of variations of drink in the fridge.“
“Cozy little teriyaki shop. Drive by here all the time, but never stopped by. Glad I did! Great teriyaki and gyoza. The fountain drink dispenser was out of carbonation, but they have a ton of bottled drinks available in the reach-in fridge right next to it.Parking: It’s a busy area, so parking can be a little tight. But when we arrived, we were able to find a spot.“
“We came here because of a good review. We felt like sushi and wanted to try a new place to us, It’s does not look like much from the outside. But it’s a hidden gem. Fresh fish. Extra large servings on the Bento box. It was authentic sushi. Great service. We plan to come back,“
“Absolutely the best people with some amazing food and the atmosphere is awesome. This is a restaurant that actually cares about you. And they care about the food that they make. I would say this is the best teriyaki place I've ever been to.“
“It's a small place, pretty standard when you just walk in. Now, let me tell you why I thought it was great! I ordered teriyaki chicken breast with extra meat and no rice sub extra veggies, sauce on the side. My friend ordered the teriyaki chicken and katsu chicken combo. The food all came our right and pretty quickly. We ate there, and I was a little different to get all of our own supplies. The tables were clean and well maintained. They have a little bit nicer round chopstick and very small cups for water (4 oz). The house made hot sauce was amazing and my friend loved it as well. While we were there, it was pretty slow. We were the only table for a while. The family came out and ate together. I thought this was nice. We were self-sufficient, and I was nice to see a family eat together today when we are constantly being driven apart.I will be back for the great food and laid back chill vibes with a touch of family.“
“I have pad Thai and Thai fried rice and they both well seasoned. One thing that I love is drink packaging. I always have a hard time mixing Thai tea by just stirring with a straw so it is great to see that use a better quality plastics cup that well sealed and reusable so I can shake the cup without creating a mess.“
“This place has really good teriyaki and it's actually at an affordable price most teriyaki places are outrageously priced this place it was $15 for me to get chicken teriyaki breasts and 2 egg roll and it was delicious teriyaki I think I've ever had. This place is a hidden gem go there you won't be disappointed.Parking: Right directly across the street from the Rite aid at 72nd and Pacific Ave“
“My coworkers and I went to pick up lunch here one day when it was cold and rainy. While we were waiting the amazing lady brought us some hot soup and had us sit down to warm up. Reminded me of my grandma... love this place and I will definitely be back.“
“It used to be one of my favorite restaurants however the service has gone way downhill. They say that they're vegetarian friendly restaurant but they refuse to put rice in a separate plate so it doesn't touch the meat. If you are a vegetarian or you have family members who are they are not respectful of people's vegetarian needs.“
“This place is amazing! The food is great and at a good price. The lady behind the register, June, is a gem. The food is delicious and her customer service and friendly demeanor makes you want to keep coming back. She made us feel very welcome when we moved to Tacoma a few years back. I always recommend this place to people when they ask for good Chinese food.“
“There are not a lot of sushi restaurants in Tacoma, and of those I know of, they tend to think they're in Seattle and it's okay to charge $20 a roll, or competing with gas stations to make you nervous, this place is the exception. It's affordable, not pretentious, cute interior with pretty solid sushi, (I stick with the veggie options but my friends have all enjoyed the fish, so second hand account on the actual sushi)If you live in the area and want sushi, I definitely recommend it, for whatever that's worth :)P.S. I'm grading this a bit on a curve due to the other options I've had, but it's a review so definitely biased in some way or another.“
“First time eating here and it was excellent! Tasty chicken teriyaki, and yokisoba noodles. The eggrolls were probably some of the best I’ve ever had. Portions are huge. The woman working the front was extremely friendly and kind. The only downfall is I originally called to place an order, and there was a small language barrier, but other than that, experience was great.“
“Customer service is always exceptional! We are treated like family when we go there everytime whether we dine in or out. Family friendly, date night one of our favorites! Happy hour great prices for soooo much fresh food we always get sushi. Everyone should try this place atleast once.“
“An almost hidden gem in Spanaway. Tucked away in a small strip mall is the best teriyaki I've ever had. The place has a pleasant and quiet ambiance. The food is simply amazing. Parking is adequate and easily accessed of Pacific Avenue. Staff is always very nice and happy to serve you. Check it out. You'll be glad you did.“
“this is my absolute favorite teriyaki place in a 15 mile radius. the owner is so sweet, the food is amazing, the prices are cheap (should be more considering how good they are)! i’ve never once had a bad plate of food here or a bad experience. worth every penny <3“
“The new owner Sarah uses the highest quality ingredients for her community that was shared by her and her employees. The salad dressing and all sauces are made fresh and very tasty. Portions are great, services from the staff is so inviting and friendly with care. Atmosphere is upbeat as everyone there has smiles on their faces with bright greetings. Perks for clean restroom!!! ? Price is very reasonable for the quality and portion size!!! When you do go, you’ll definitely will be returning as you’ll crave the taste of their food!No place brings people together like Kinja Teriyaki!!! Thank you for your wonderful services and delicious food!!! ??❤️??“
“This place is a gem! They put a lot of care into the preparation. The ambience is very intimate and relaxing with a nice low light. The tuna is the tastiest tuna! Very fast service, very clean. The parking lot is convenient.Parking: I think that the parking lot must have about 12 parking spots. The parking along the street is also very convenient and accessible and free. I don’t think most people would have trouble with parking in this location.“
“We Were Amazed!Hungry and a long drive ahead of us, hit up google and jumped off the freeway, found Happy Teriyaki but had our doubts due to the area. Our waitress quickly brought us drinks and took our order. She was so very nice.In no time, she returned with a feast fit for a king.Portion size was incredible and better yet, the flavors were incredible. With every bite, we would comment on how good the food was!We highly recommend Happy Teriyaki in Tacoma. If we lived near Tacoma, it would be our go-to dining spot!100% ?“
“Great place to grab a bite that’s a great value. Prices are really good for the serving size. The spring rolls and chicken vermicelli salad are my absolute favorite! The dining area is small but comfortable but not suited for large parties. The food is always fresh and travels well. Our whole family can go there and everyone has something they love and meets their dietary needs.Vegetarian options: Tofu dishes or meatless optionsDietary restrictions: Gluten free and vegetarian options are available, they’re good about modifying if needed.Parking: In plaza with a grocery and auto supply store so it’s a communal parking lot with plenty of space.“
“I was surprised by the portion sizes and the piece sizes, much bigger than most moderately priced sushi places, and the fish is well sourced. I am pretty certain it's Japan-sourced tuna. The service was excellent. Had a great server, and Kyle did an outstanding job above and beyond to cater to the kiddo. The atmosphere felt like a blend of older Japanese cultural styles with a modern and Westernized take.Price wise it wasn't too bad for 3 people came out to around $100 w/ tip. It can cost that much at Genki Sushi with just 2 people. I got the dragon roll & Nigiri plate (awesome deal), and the rest of the fam had a bento, call roll, cucumber salad a few other things.Overall I think it's priced appropriately, has good sushi for around here, and is a pleasant place.“
“I ordered the Mongolian Beef/teriyaki chicken combo 17.99 and a potato croquette 2.49. First of all, the amount of food you get is enough for two. It is basically a full order of each meat and 2 giant mounds of rice. Well worth the price. The potato croquette was sooo good. Creamy inside and crispy outside. The katsu sauce it came with was the best. Not all watered down either. The chicken was moist and cooked perfect. The teriyaki sauce was generous and very good. The beef was really good. I wish they had an option to make it spicy. Also wish they had a bit more veggies in the mix. NOT complaining, just my preference. This place is close to work, so will definitely be trying more from them for lunch in the future!“
“Very good teriyaki and katsu. Portions are big and worth the price. Food is served hot and fresh. Staff is friendly. To go order was ready quickly. There is a lot of seating available if you would like to dine in. I plan on returning. Would definitely recommend!“
“Found this restaurant when looking for someplace new to eat. I like that the restaurant was simple looking yet nice in its own way. The atmosphere was nice, but the service could have been better. There was only 3 tables that had people when we got there, and we were one of the 3. Our appetizers were barely warm, but luckily, my main course was hot.We got veggie tempura, steamed gyzoa, my girl got the rainbow Maki roll, and I got the shoyu ramen with extra meat. The ramen was a little too salty, but it was good. The rainbow roll was good as well.Overall, I still give this place a 4. We'd be willing to come back and try them again :)“
“We have never been disappointed with this restaurant, they always deliver excellent food, service, ambiance and cleanliness.Parking: It's a large strip mall area, so plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: I took two granddaughters and there was a several other kiddos having a grand timeWheelchair accessibility: Very easy to maneuver“
“Ordered Chicken Teriyaki, Almond Chicken, and Shrimp Fried Rice. If you are looking for traditional Almond Chicken, this is not where you want to order from. It had veggies and a sauce more like teriyaki… so disappointed.? The chicken teriyaki was tender and cooked well. The shrimp fried rice was “fine”; nothing I would recommend. The total for this was just under $43 and no fortune cookies. Probably will not return…. Not bad just not what we were looking for.“
“Sauce changed back to better sauce. It was fairly slow when I was there..... with that being said, I had hot food in front of me in 10 mins flat. From the the time I came through the door, was seated, cold water delivered, and hot chicken and beef teriyaki shortly after......10 mins!! Outstanding!! (And I was starving, so I sure did appreciate it). Don't let me forget to mention it was delicious...“
“The food was absolutely delicious. We got off at this exit due to an accident and my family was hungry. We were worried when we saw no one in the parking lot but once we went in we were given great service and once we got our food we were shocked this place was empty. The food was so good.“
“The service here is great. Some idiot was blasting his phone inside the dining area, which I mentioned to the lady helping me and she asked him to turn it off. She was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was really good also (I got chicken fried rice), although it took much longer than comparable teriyaki places I've been to (it wasn't too busy).“
“As soon as I entered the restaurant, the owner welcomed me with a bright smile. Her kindness had already impressed me, and I felt that the food she made was bound to be delicious. The house combo yakisoba was truly a work of art. The properly cooked vegetables, somen, shrimp, beef, and chicken proteins were so soft, and the seasoning was perfect. If someone were to ask me for a recommendation for a teriyaki restaurant, this would be the first place.“
“My wife and I have been going here for years. We have brought lots of friends and family over the years to Trappers. This last time we were there was so disgusting that we were going to walk out. the iced tea was so weak that it looked like dirty water that you could see through. We ordered our normal. We were sitting in the bar and could see the counter when the food was placed there. It set there for 12 minutes before our server brought it to us. Off and on for the whole 12 minutes the door greeter kept going over and leaning over and running his hands through his hair over our food. When they finally brought it to us we asked for a manager. We were not going to eat this after watching what happened. She was a young girl with attitude. She never said sorry for what had happened. After a few minutes with talking with her she offered to remake our dinner and give us a discount. We accepted and the food was just okay. We did not pay for the iced tea and we just drink water. It will probably be a long time before we come back after our experience.“
“Oh my goodness one of the best teriyaki places I've been to in a while Top Notch service cleanliness super friendly staff and good size portions can't say enough great things about my experience and I am feeling fat and happy LOL. By far the best beef teriyaki I've had in quite some time as wellA+++++????“
“A real gem. I will definitely be back. Food wash fresh and really well prepared. I get nervous with places with a very large menu, that it will all be 'meh.' In a party of four, we had one brisket pho, one veggie pho, one tofu General Tso's and one teriyaki bento. We all loved what we got. Prices are very reasonable. Portions are LARGE. I got a 'regular' size pho and had plenty to take home. Service was great. Restaurant was bright, clean and well lit. Parking is very limited, but a small price to pay considering the overall experience.“
“The best way to describe this spot is as the perfect comfort Japanese food for anyone who grew up getting the basic take out as a kid.I came by to grab a to go plate on a busy and stressful day when I just needed something quick, and it honestly hit the spot. It’s good, basic Japanese take out, and it was a huge source of nostalgia and comfort for me at a time that I needed it.The store is very clean and organized and has a solid menu. The cashier is very friendly and an excellent multitasker. She was taking orders, setting out food for to go orders/mobile orders, and constantly answering the phone. She definitely stayed busy but never made any customers wait to be helped. My food was ready in 10-15 minutes and was actually ready faster than my partner’s food from a restaurant next door.It was quiet when I entered and picked up shortly after (it was about 4:30 PM). It was nice to see a good amount of foot traffic in a small restaurant. And yet it never got loud or rowdy.I ordered the chicken teriyaki and gyoza combo plate. It was exactly as you expect and hope for from chicken teriyaki.“
“I would like more plants in the store but I'm picky so take mine with a grain of salt; wasn't in the best of mental states when I went in with my best friend, we got some food and I paid and I think he wasn't doing too well either way the time. The food was great, the last behind the counter was nice but I feel she was pretty tired and that's ok, and the music choice was... Unique for the theme of the restaurant. Would definitely order from again though, good grub and definitely some wonderful sauces!“
“My experience was really good! I placed a pickup order for 1 spicy chicken teriyaki with rice and it was ready within 10 minutes of placing the call! The food was also super cheap compared to Teriyaki places more North of Tacoma! It was under $13 for a HUGE portion of white rice and chicken that was hot and ready (also super yummy and saucy)! So good I had to look at it in the car.“
“Was hesitant to try this place again after the previous owners...just terrible! I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness, friendly attitude and amazing delicious food!! The teriyaki sauce was so good...we had chicken teriyaki, Kung pao chicken, beef teriyaki, and katsu chicken. All were excellent!!“
“The fried rice is little more than rice with a few peas and carrots added in, the sauces are scanty (but very good!) you have to order xtra if you want enough to cover everything.Overall the food is very good and portions are decent, even without or doubling up the meats. One of the better spots in GH. The staff is very friendly and convivial-more than I remember from pre covid days. This is one of my “go to” teriyaki places. Prices are up as they are everywhere but not exceedingly so and well worth it.Dining in is cramped dingy and probably not the cleanest , but a lot of good food places are no more than that. So not an issue with me.“
“Very friendly, Food was great hot and fresh, Price point is great. Stopped in on the way home for dinner. Placed order Togo 3 meals and egg rolls. Less than 10mins to get food. Thank youVegetarian options: Everything you would expect for a teriyaki restaurant. Rice, Noodles, Tofu, VeggiesParking: Big parking lot. Plenty of space“
“We've been living in the area for awhile but had yet to try Yum Yum Teriyaki. We went and I was very impressed with food, service and cleanliness of restaurant. Had Sweet and Sour Chicken, crab wontons and rice. Very large portions, I could not finish. It was a good meal and a good value for the price.“
“My husband and I found this place when we lived on 6th Ave. in Tacoma. He says their sesame chicken is some of the best he has ever had. I have driven 30 min out of my way in order to get their egg drop soup and their combo meals are so good for the price. I think the value and quality plus the service here is absolutely amazing. If I lived closer we would probably get food from here once a month.“
“Surprisingly good. I've passed by frequently but am always weary when restaurants serve too many varieties of food types. In this case burgers, Chinese and Japanese cuisines. That said, their burger and fries were phenomenal. I highly recommend the mushroom burger and grilled chicken burger, which is what we ordered.“
“Kyoto is a Japanese restaurant located on South Tacoma Way. This was my first time at this restaurant, and it was a pleasant time! When you walk through the glass doors, you walk over a little wooden bridge and wait to be seated by a host. There are booths scattered around, bar seating, and a private dining area. My sister and I were seated at a booth near the front. The ambiance was quite serene and calm. We needed a few minutes to think about what to order, especially since I was undecisive about what I wanted to try here. I ended up ordering the Sake Ju, while my sister ordered the Tempera Udon. Then, we shared the Super Dragon Roll. The Sake Ju had much more rice than salmon, which was a bit upsetting to me. I ordered it because I saw other pictures of people ordering it and it looked really appealing with how much salmon they got. I would not order that again, unless I decided to order sashimi on the side to eat with it. All in all, it was a good experience, and I would consider coming back again to try other items off the menu.“
“Such good food and tasty. Good portion sizes as well. They are always friendly and make sure you have everything.Parking: Depends on the time of day you go. There are other businesses in the complex, and if busy, parking is harder to find. It's free parking, though, and there are parking spots right in front of the restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: It's 1 story and no stairs, so it is easy to get in and out.“
