“I've been a Seattle resident my entire life and I've probably been going to Ivar's restaurants almost as long. Let's put it this way, I'm old enough to remember Ivar Haglund's commercials and his guest appearances on the JP Patches show. 😆
I've been meaning to write a review of the Issaquah Ivar's because I'm a local and I've always had such good experiences there. Truthfully, I didn't even realize there was an Ivar's in Issaquah until just a few years ago.
As a former restaurant worker (Shari's) many years back, I'm pretty picky when it comes to restaurants. Here's what I like about this one:
About the restaurant:
-It's clean.
-Bathrooms are well maintained.
-Tables are cleared quickly.
-The drink and condiment section (sodas, ketchup, tartar sauce stuff, etc.) always seems to be well-stocked with everything.
-Floors are clean too.
-Have I mentioned it's clean? lol
-The food is always served hot and fresh. Fries are crispy, fish is crispy, chowder is *amazing*, salads are good. My kids don't like the coleslaw (I think it's good) but they love all the other stuff on the menu.
About the people who work there:
-Great, personable customer service.
-The people who work there are quick when you need something.
-I'm not sure who the red-headed manager lady is but she's really attentive, helpful, and funny. Ever since she started working there, that Ivar's location has really improved on all levels. The previous management was OK but this manager really seems to go above and beyond.
-Bob - Have you met Bob? He's an older gentleman who works there and he's seriously an Issaquah legend. My whole family loves Bob! He is the kindest man and we always look forward to seeing him there. I mean, this Ivar's is good but Bob really sells it. He's definitely one of a kind.
Overall, I feel comfortable eating at this restaurant because they seem to run a tight ship. As far as restaurants go, it's one of the cleanest I've been to anywhere.
And now I'm hungry and need some fish and chips. lol.
(Sorry I don't have better photos. I'm one of those people who pretty much only take pictures of food.)“

“Went for a seafood boil and it was beyond delicious. Timely serving, absolutely heaping boil, and the Cajun seasoning was to die for. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will definitely be making it a frequent dinner spot with my family!“

“New Englander through and through got the Cajun fish basket and clam chowder. First time here went off what was recommended. Cajun fish fry was great snappy crust flaky fish, chowder well, more like soup but still flavorful. I am biased but still solid food for just arriving to Seattle living on 4hrs of sleep.“
“I have bought many different canned crabmeat products through out the years, but this was the second time I used this product. Not only is the taste sweater but when you sort through the meat, there is very little cartliage . Still have to sort but once is enough,“

“There is true joy in a calming meal. There is even greater joy in a cozy late night meal. We're greatly looking forward to our next visit, and I would like to say an extra thank you to Kim, who was refreshingly enthusiastic and kind. I hope my more exhausted maner didn't seem like I was disappointed in my meal. I was very pleased and inspired, Shinya Shokudō is definitely worth gate keeping to be sure but joy is best shared. Thank you again for a lovely and refreshing meal.“

“I've been dining here for years. Best place for authentic Chinese food in the area. While I've been delighted with everything I've had, my go-to favorites are the wasabi hand-shredded chicken together with pea vine in broth.
They also have American Chinese options if that's your jam, but seriously, consider letting this will be your day to branch out, because this is definitely place to do it!“

“Lunch special are super reasonable. Food comes out fresh to order and lots of flavor. This is really good American Chinese food, not so much authentic but still good. Egg flour soup and hot and sour soup have artificial coloring..sweet and sour pork was really good with fried rice and the bbq pork was tender and not fatty. Would come back to try other dishes. Staff are friendly and kept checking on us.“

“Thank you, Brother Nai, for treating me to such a deliciously rich bowl of your fish soup.
I came in with little money on a cold, overcast day, and was going to buy what I could afford, but the chef and staff took great care of me, making sure I had a regular bowl of soup.
I will never forget to repay such kindness.
Thank you for sharing your hospitality, food and culture with me—for seeing me as a human.
God bless you 😌🙏🏽 谢谢“
“I love teapot vegetarian house, I have known its closure would be inevitable due to the strip mall's conversion to apartments although I am still extremely sad to see it go. very extensive menu, large portions, lovely staff, delicious vegan food, and versions of hard-to-find-vegan authentic Chinese dishes I've been missing since becoming vegan. overall highly recommended you go before it closes, and get the mango "cheese"cake, it's hands down the best dessert they make and absolutely delicious, and 100% vegan!“

“The chow mein tastes exactly how it's supposed to, which sounds insane, but I swear it makes sense. The food is consistently cooked to perfection, the staff are super lovely, and the vibe is comfy. There is a fish that will stare at you uncomfortably depending on where you're seated, but I think that's a feature rather than any kind of detriment.“

“The food was excellent, and the waitress was very attentive. I had the wonton soup, crispy honey walnut chicken, garlic string beans, and the short ribs. Every dish was very good. If I had to choose a favorite it was probably the honey walnut chicken because it had a very satisfying crispy texture on the outside.“

“One of the best dim sum spots I’ve visited recently. The selection was excellent, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the service was quick even during busy hours. Everything arrived steaming hot and full of flavor. A perfect place for a relaxing weekend brunch. Highly recommended!“

“Got the sour veggie Szechuan fish with fatty beef, tripe and taro and it was pretty good. The spice and numbing levels are probably higher than average in this area, so I recommend going with 1 spice and numbing. I thought the service was pretty good and both servers were Cantonese.“

“A friend and I were visiting Bellevue and randomly came across this place. This place is hidden gem. We got our 3 dumpling orders, chicken and rice within 10 mins of ordering, probably even less. Food tasted amazing, it was hot, well seasoned and made my tummy happy. I definitely recommend this place for the family as portions are healthy as well. Great place, will be coming here again.“
