“After having been to Driftwood twelve times I can confidently say it’s the only restaurant in Seattle worth dining at.  Lots of places make claims about freshness and local ingredients, but chef Dan Mallahan shops at the Farmers Market two days a week. It’s not a joke or a gimmick. If you want to eat food grown exclusively in Washington State, that tastes real, then Driftwood is the spot. They serve tomatoes that actually have flavor, delicious veggie dishes, and meat and fish that are tender and juicy. They combine so many flavors in a subtle harmony making each bite you take delightful. Not to mention the killer cocktails.  The vibe is beautiful but chill. The staff are lovely and kind. Everything about Driftwood is real. The food, the people, even the hand towels in the bathroom.  Concerned about prices at a farm-to-table restaurant and getting enough to eat? “Went here for lunch and ordered the Cheeseburger lunch special. It was stacked with fresh tomatoes, onions, pickles, and lettuce. And was absolutely delicious. The fries were a nice compliment but the burger was the star. I usually get seafood but the cheeseburger was a delicious diversion! “Decor is standard ivar’s, so I gave it a default 5 stars. Food is as expected, nicely fried seafood. The Asian lady frying the food seems very on top of things and open to helping the cashier when she has a spare moment. She seems more invested than she should be, so that’s good, right? They also bring your order out to you. I’m used to them calling your name and you have to get your order at the counter. So services is above par for an Ivar’s.

I can’t say enough good things about this place, I’d rate it over a 5/5 if I could. The taste is delicious, authentic, and usually not overly oily. The food is affordable and come in large portions. They’re also very consistent in the quality. Also - how many places devein the shrimp? Even Haidilao doesn’t do it, and their menu is expensive. I’m looking forward to trying more dishes here, but so far I’d highly recommend the yang zhou fried rice, fish and crab maw soup, and dry chow foon with beef. They don’t get as much traffic due to the location, but I’m very grateful it’s close to me and hope they’ll continue to be in this neighborhood for a long time.“

“Sometimes it's hard to see this place driving down Rainier, but you can smell the goodness coming out of here. The patio was packed with locals from the East African community, and not a single hipster in sight, so I HAD to check it out. Glad I did. Took home some amazing spicy lamb tibs and it was so good I just had to take my partner here for dinner a few nights later. She was impressed as she ordered what I had the last time, and I had the Keye Wott (which was nice and spicy but not too spicy). Looks to be a family run joint, and the staff just loved that I came back and brought my partner here. Highly recommended.“
