“Amazing atmosphere, superb service, hidden gem. Sushi Kaunta is the best sushi/sashimi that I’ve had in the PNW and is on par with the same quality/tastes that I’ve had from other similar restaurants in Asia. I came across the restaurant online and thankfully the owner was able to help me with a table for one. The owner is extremely nice and provides personable service. I had the chef’s choice nigiri and ordered two additional pieces off of the menu, every bite was fresh and extremely delicious. Highly recommended and I look forward to when I can come back again! Definitely reach out in advance for a reservation and follow the clear directions on the website to make a reservation.“

“For about a week, I've been wanting sushi for dinner. I happened to be in Burien & drove by Tori Sake & Grill in a small, not fancy strip mall. Ordered miso & a couple of rolls - the Burien (quick deep fried) and a CA. Fresh, flavorful, can't wait to return with friends.“

“This is some very tasty chicken teriyaki. They use thigh meat which is juicier than breast. The meat was tender and flavorful. It didn't need the extra teriyaki sauce, but it punched the flavor up another notch. The mac salad was creamy and cooling; it was a great side to the chicken. I got the cucumber salad and it was also very tasty; I felt like I got the veg that I was craving. They only do takeout, so the atmosphere is okay, but not great. I wouldn't call it a bargain, but the portions were generous.I'll be back to try some other menu items.“

“Came here while visiting town based on Kenji's visit and it did not disappoint. An insane amount of food for the price and it was fantastic. We had the spicy chicken, salmon, and gyoza and all were pretty perfect. Will come back when we're in town, without a doubt.“

“I've been eyeing this place since they opened. Finally had the opportunity to check it out. My wife and I ordered 6 items for take out. The fish for all the rolls were fresh and everything was tasty! I took a look at the interior when I picked up my food and man... it looks like a fancy sushi restaurant in Seattle! I'm a big fan and we'll be returning soon!!! Someone complained about them being "overpriced" they're probably used to eating gas station sushi for 4.99. the price for their food is very fair and it's 100Xs fresher. Don't listen to those clowns.“

“This place has a legendary status to generations of people. My husband grew up going there and his dad showed several other people he knew when he was young too. And every single person my husband has told about this place has become a regular. I was resistant at fist because I'm not crazy about red meat anymore, and the moo yang is what everyone says is the best (it is super good). But I get the gai yang (chicken) and it is just unlike anything else I've ever had. Whoever opened this restaurant long ago had a vision from God above who said "go now, my child, fill the hearts and bellies of people off of 167 for generations", and so it was done. Praise be.“

“I love this hidden gem and will def be back! If you're looking for a relaxed and welcoming neighborhood spot with great food, this is it. The sushi was excellent. I got a Cali roll and something with salmon and cream cheese that was tempura fried (I forget the name), chefs kiss!! The owner and sushi chef were so nice and very personable, it made it feel really welcoming. They serve a wide variety of drinks (I saw margarita glasses) and are bringing karaoke back soon.“

“We go twice a month and every time I love it here even more. The presentation of the food is incredible and it tastes even better. The people that work here are so great at what they do, the service is top tier. Watching the guys at the sushi bar.. it's art and they are so fun to talk to. Best miso and karaage I've ever had!! The line seems long when you walk in sometimes but they get you seated in under 10 minutes.Absolutely worth it to check it out!!Bento box is my favorite way to go “

“This restaurant is absolutely outstanding!!! We stumbled on it during a day trip a couple of hours south of where we live, but we are absolutely making the trip back again and again because it's so worth it! The menu is jam packed with so many unique choices, we ordered a few things simply because the name sounded interesting, and we were blown away with how wonderful and delicious everything was! And with the traditional foods (yes, there are plenty of options there too) they were incredibly fresh and beautiful! The food, the service, the setting, all of it, was THE BEST - a hidden treasure!“

“Had the tonkatsu ramen with chicken katsu. The chicken katsu was super tender and crispy and the sauce it came with and presentation was great. It came on a bed of fried noodles with an orange slice. They also give you a side of rice and a little salad that was very tasty. The ramen was flavorful and hit the spot. The atmosphere is very nice too and the service was great. All together great for the price.“

“Best burgers I've found in Seattle. And the shakes are well made, great consistency, and full of flavor. And unique flavors at that. The burger options of meat, toppings, and sauces make for a variety of options. It can be a costly meal, but lately, where isn't?“

“I've said many time teriyaki ain't my bag, but it's close to Chinese and with the lack of Chinese restaurants sometimes you have to compromise. The reviews for this place are near flawless , so I decided to give them a try. This place is off 3rd, and for anyone that drives third, you know traffic is thick and you are trying to find a lane to get through and not get caught by a light. So in the decades I've live here, I've never seen this place because 3rd is one way and no one has time to be checking their review view. Tiny spot, but clean and modern. I got a lunch special and asked for soup. The girl didn't charge me for soup, so either I got lucky, or they just don't advertise it. Miso was delicious and the food came pretty quick after. I had chicken an gyoza, it came with a couple small scoops of rice and salad. The salad was pretty sad, without a doubt the weakest side salad I've been served. No veggies, just lettuce and the dressing was watered down. I like places that serve a sesame ginger dressing, it really wakes up your taste-buds. The gyoza was really good. I would have likes it steamed and fried better than deep fried, but everyone is lazy these days. The chicken could have been a little more flavorful and moist, but it wasn't horrible. I'm going to assume they make their own sauce, It wasn't too sweet, but it had a different flavor. In the end, this place is better than the average spot, but it's not life changing and that what the current score eludes to. I think this place is a 3, leaning towards 3.5, but since Yelp doesn't allow half ratings, I rounded up because service was so good. That said, I'll probably come back to try the Chinese dishes. And I don't regret coming in today.“

“Food was super filling and tasted great! Even having only a burger I didn’t even think I could finish it because of how full I got. I had the Chai milkshake too and I loved it. Service was great and our server was super nice and generous, and the restaurant itself was very cute and had cool decor. Definitely will be coming back sometime!“

“There isn't a lot of choice when it comes to sushi or Japanese food in general in West Seattle. Thankfully, Irashai is great. I routinely get sushi takeout from here - they're quick to fill the orders and the staff is always pleasant and friendly. The non-sushi part of the menu is also really solid. Glad to have this place close by for my sushi needs.“

“Ordered beef teriyaki with a side of gyoza because I was stuck on mercer island for a few hours but pho is obviously their specialty. The rice and gyoza were good but the beef abd sauce were sub par imo compared to dedicated teriyaki places. It wasn’t bad but definitely different if you're looking to satisfy a teriyaki craving this is only about 75% there.“

“Amazing sushi -- and sustainable! The only downside is the server with the Coke-bottle glasses, easily the most annoying server I have encountered in my many years of dining. He was like something out of an episode of _Curb Your Enthusiasm_. “We come here all the time! Sushi is super fresh, balanced, and fairly priced. The family that runs it is incredible. Warm and inviting and happy to be there. Highly recommend the Allison roll (for their daughter Allison) and the Katsu Curry. My bf tries something new each time, but I go for the Allison roll and to steal bites of his curry. Give this local small business a shot for a perfect lowkey evening. *Can also confirm we've gotten their takeout and the sushi is just as fresh!*“

“First time eating at Nami Sushi, and it did not disappoint! We ordered the small boat, which has 20 different items in the boat and 3 different kinds of rolls. We also ordered the tempura calamari and Agedashi with a side of Japanese beer (large bottle of Asahi). The wait staff are attentive and checked on us multiple times. The restaurant is clean and tables are nicely spaced apart, tables are cleaned immediately. The decor of this restaurant is pretty cool and unusual. We will definitely be back. Thanks Nami Sushi!“

“The hostess was very friendly and the food was quickly prepared and served. It was hot and fresh, and the fried rice was delicious. The General Tso chicken was just alright. It was very salty and had no heat, desperate being market as "spicy" on the menu. The price was also too high - a weekday lunch entrée with rice and a soda ran well over $20.Their soda options are limited to Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Root Beer, and Orange Fanta. The environment is very spacious and clean, with a warm and well-lit atmosphere.Wheelchair accessibility: Very spacious indoor environment, with plenty of room to fit a wheelchair at many tables.“

“Tell me something. You like teriyaki? Did you move out of state and find that good teriyaki in the US only exists in a few small pockets? Don’t sleep on this stuff guys. Was it Joni Mitchell who said “Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t what you got til it’s gone?” Grab on to the things you love and hold them tight. They will make most things gluten free and not make you feel like a bozo for asking.“

“I’m a regular at this place- always friendly folks, great food, and hearty portions. Like everything else- prices have doubled in the last couple of years but I’d rather spend $14 on chicken teriyaki with rice and salad or chicken yakisoba- enough for dinner and lunch the next day than the same amount for a burger and fries!“

“The shabu shabu that they serve here is really good. The restaurant has been around for over 30 years, and I've come here a couple times now. The food is extremely affordable when you look at how much you get especially in the shabu shabu meal. Six of us ate there and included sushi and it was less than $200 to feed all of us, though we did not have any beverages other than hot tea and water. The server lady was outstanding and worked unbelievably hard to take care of all the tables in the restaurant by herself. I'll definitely come back for shabu-shabu again!“

“We liked this place overall. The sushi was pretty good quality, we got 6 rolls. Our favorite was the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura. They did mess up and give us a vegetable roll instead of a California roll but they gave us the right roll for free. The place is a bit small and cramped but for the price and quality of sushi it is definitely worth it!“

“Out of the many teriyaki restaurants on the Eastside, I'd certainly return here another time! Three of us picked up an early lunch one Saturday to bring over to my grandmother. When we walked in, an employee in the kitchen kindly greeted us, while another employee emerged from the back to take our order. Both of them were so welcoming and personable. We decided on three dishes which, when we asked, the employee said should be enough for 3.5 people (my grandma is a light eater). At the time, there were already a number of customers waiting for their orders, but the kitchen slung the food out pretty quickly! + CHICKEN & BEEF COMBO ($14.55): The chicken and beef slices were lean with nice grill marks and the charred flavor that all teriyaki should have. I liked how the beef was cut into actual slices as opposed to chopped or the thin sukiyaki style. The amount of teriyaki sauce was ideal as well, with the meat lightly coated rather than swimming in it. This combo included two scoops of rice and a salad. + CHICKEN KATSU ($13.51): As a quick note, they only offer chicken katsu, not pork. I appreciated that they cut a hole in the lid of the box, so the panko coating remained completely crispy. That may seem like common sense, but not all teriyaki shops have done this. Despite the slight sweetness of the breading, I enjoyed it. Most of the chicken pieces were uniform, but some were "crumb-like" in size, and I felt those should have been excluded. This one also came with two scoops of rice, salad and a cup of katsu sauce. + VEGGIE YAKISOBA ($13.51): Stir-fried noodles with cabbage, carrots, celery and broccoli. These noodles were addicting, cooked perfectly with a light peppery flavor. The veggies were still firm with the cabbage and carrots still slightly crunchy. Servings were reasonable and we didn't have any leftovers. However, they do offer both "regular" and "large" meal sizes. I would say that a "regular" size (which we ordered for all dishes) is truly intended for a single serving, whereas if you're sharing amongst a larger group, I'd probably suggest getting the "large". Just something to keep in mind!“

“Delicious, fresh food. There's plenty of options; teriyaki, wok, sushi rolls, noodles, and more. The portions are big enough to share. I had the chicken and short ribs combo; the chicken was perfectly seasoned, tender, and the ribs, too. Service was friendly and quick. There's plenty of sitting space to eat there, or you can pick up and take home.“

“I got the spicy chicken teriyaki (my personal default) combo with the four piece gyoza. I came in after lunch around 1:45pm after calling in my order. I picked up my order, paid, thanked the staff and left. It was a nice day, so I drove down to a park to enjoy the weather while I ate.The plating was three quarters rice, one quarter salad with the chicken on top of the rice. Portions were pretty generous. I would say there was about three chicken thighs worth of meat on there. The chicken was a little messy in its arrangement, but it may have been jostled on my journey down. It did look like the chicken was tossed in a sauce after cooking, as the cut sides of the chicken were colored by the sauce pretty consistently. But that also could have come from an additional application of sauce once the chicken was plated. The chicken itself was great. It had a little bit of char on it (as it should) but wasnt overcooked. It could’ve had a little more char on it, but what I got would suffice. I wouldn’t describe it as juicy, but it was not dry whatsoever. The sauce coating the chicken was sweeter than what I was used to, but balanced out well with the rice. They gave me an additional sauce cup that I put on top. That sauce was unusually thick, and took some work to get mixed/spread over the chicken. I honestly don’t even think it was necessary for me to use it, but it was fine. The chicken was good, bordering on great. The rice took up enough of the sauce to imbue it with some of its tasty flavor making the rice experience quite pleasant. The grains were of a medium to medium-short variety which is pretty typical of most teriyaki establishments. The rice didnt show any signs of it sitting in a rice cooker too long nor did it show any signs of overcooking. The rice stuck together in clumps pretty well even after absorbing some of the sauce. Overall the rice was good. The salad was of the iceberg mix variety with a few slivers of carrots in it, again pretty typical. Like it came from a grocery store pre-mix bag. Not that its a bad thing. The dressing was medium thickness, sweet and slightly acidic. It was pretty comparable to most teriyaki restaurants. The gyoza were fried well, and had a nice crispy shell. The shell itself did not show signs of freezer burn and had nice blistering from frying. The filling felt pretty average but that is saying that I still enjoyed it very much. The dipping sauce for the gyoza was not too soy sauce heavy. It had a nice acidity likely from a mirin or a rice wine vinegar and a touch of sesame oil for flavor paired very well with the dumplings. The meal was expensive though, I was out the door $21 poorer (not including tip). Now this could totally be my fault for not looking at the reciept or menu more closely, but I was expecting the charge to be more like $18 based on the images of their menu on google. However, they dont have a spicy chicken teriyaki + gyoza item on their menu specifically though they do have one thats teriyaki + 3 gyoza + 1 egg roll. So maybe I was charged a non-combo price.Overall, 8/10 experience on the meal. The price knocks down a point and the chicken not being fresh sliced does as well. But it still gets 5 stars because its great. Theres nothing wrong here and they get most everything just the way it should be. I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area.“

“I tried this place for the first time today. Ordered spicy chicken teriyaki. I didn't like how they put onions and carrots mixed with the chicken. “Fresh, cooked perfectly, HUGE portions! We stayed at the hotel for a layover night and we are on our way to one of the big restaurants the hotel recommended when we saw Masae's. We ordered takeout and were shocked how big the portions were! They are family size portions but so delicious. We love spicy food but did not expect how spicy those dishes would be. Still, very good. So glad we found this family owned restaurant. Highly recommend it!“
