“I’m staying at the hotel just across the street, and I couldn’t resist stopping by this gem! Let me tell you, it was an absolute thrill! I ordered the Chicken & Katsu along with a side of egg rolls, and wow, did it blow me away!

The chicken was cooked to absolute perfection! Instead of drowning in teriyaki sauce, it had this fantastic coating that gave it an incredible sweet teriyaki flavor while keeping it moist and packed with that delicious wok taste.

And the katsu? Oh my goodness! It was breaded to perfection, delivering that legendary Katsu crunch in every single bite! The in-house-made Katsu sauce added just the right touch of sweetness, making it an unbeatable combination.

As for the egg rolls, they were pure bliss! Crispy, crunchy, and bursting with flavor, they absolutely hit the spot!

“First time to this area, drove by and decided to stop. Not bad! The sauce was “brothy” and tasted light and flavorful. I got spice level 4 but it wasn’t spicy at all. They did bring extra spices to the table. I was here for lunch and thought rice came with it. It did not, it was additional. No biggie, just wanted to mention as I’ve been to Thai places for lunch where you get the rice included. Service was great.“

“I’ve been here a few times and the food has always been great. This time, however, the service was slow. I asked the waitress for an extra plate so I could share the papaya salad with my mom and her friend, but it took a long time for the plates to arrive. We eventually decided not to wait and ate the papaya salad with the rest of our food, which ended up being messy because of the fish sauce.

Aside from that, the food was still very good. For those who don’t like raw vegetables, I wouldn’t recommend the papaya salad, as it can be hard on the stomach—especially if you’ve recently had gallbladder surgery. I mention this because I didn’t realize my mom’s friend couldn’t eat raw food, so sticking to soup is a better option. Their soup is very good, and we really enjoyed it.“

Checked out the menu and my mind (and belly) wouldn't allow me to go another day without experiencing the enoki fritters, so a late lunch ensued with fritters and street corn today. “Underrated Teriyaki and Korean food restaurant with easy take out. Best teriyaki on Rainier and perhaps in town. The only fault that it is closed on Sundays. Quite delicious food options. This is the place you want to go for a delicious meal.“

“This place is amazing. We just moved to the neighborhood and got to try it for the first time and I’m already looking forward to going back. We got the Nam Khao and beef skewer plate and both were so delicious. Sticky rice was perfect and the Lao sauce was so good and spicy, like a sambal. The Nam Khao was crispy and I loved the fermented pork! It was my first time trying that dish and I wasn’t disappointed.

Our server was very nice and had a great sense of humor. He whipped us up some delicious cocktails as well!

“Best locally owned and family owned Teriyaki in West Seattle by far. Super friendly staff, decent pricing, and fast service. Almost anyone who I've talked to that lives nearby has been here and mentioned how good the food is. The spot is small so I recommend to call ahead for takeout or takeout generally when you arrive.

“Absolutely loved this hot pot experience! 🍲 The broth was rich and flavorful, with plenty of options to choose from. All the ingredients were fresh—especially the meats, seafood, and vegetables—and everything cooked perfectly in the pot.
The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was cozy and great for sharing a meal with friends or family.

“This is my absolute favorite spot to pop in for a casual lunch. It’s a calm, very quiet spot. Super nice for getting a plate of sushi and taking a moment to breathe. I personally will just go in there and prop up my phone, and throw on a youtube video or podcast. The vibe is very similar to a japanese cafe, where you can sit on your own, do your own thing, and there is no judgement for wearing headphones or being on a laptop. Also nice to do work in. “You can pay with cash at the counter, but don’t be surprised when you walk in and see a lot of people standing around. They’ve already placed their order on a kiosk and they’re waiting for their number to be called. There isn’t a lot of flexibility in the menu and I think that’s what makes the flow of service very easy for this company is a very good model of business. There is some dine in seating. Most people just walk out with the container in hand no bag ready to eat everything is pretty much teriyaki based chicken they charge you extra for spicy so I would recommend getting regular and then just adding your own sauce for spice so I don’t have any pictures. I already ate.“

“My son and I love pho, and on day after his dental appointment next door, we wondered over here and discovered this place.
My first impression is that this place has an inviting, home-like feeling. They bake some pastries/donuts fresh themselves.
The pho was a hit for my son, and we thanked the lady who said it was her very own (or family?) recipe? That was our first visit, so I can't quite remember exactly 😅
I tried their breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. Just the right amount, too.
I'm all about customer service and genuine people. And I can tell these guys have a passion for what they do.

Coming from the restaurant background, I grew to love food places that have no gimmicks and are true to their standard - Pho Liu is on top of that short list in Seattle.

I go here 3 times a week & they serve consistently high quality pho. The small bowl (pictured) is more than enough & leaves room to try their delicious apps. Fish-sauced wings, spring rolls, egg rolls are all phenomenal.

One way to tell they take care of their craft is how long the noodles can sit in the broth without releasing any starch. Fresh noodles, perfectly cooked, and well strained. Also their bean sprouts and herbs are extremely fresh. Never once have I had soggy or bitter bean sprouts here - which is more common at pho places than you’d think.

The owner family & servers here are great & kind people, as well. The subtle cues are how many regulars I’ve seen on random visits and how well the fish (in the fish tank) are taken care of.

This neighborhood place is truly one of the last pre-tech boom Seattle relics.“

Now, any other place just pales in comparison. Both the beef and the chicken teriyaki were perfect, tender with just the right amount of sauce. The sauce is a perfect balance of sweet and tart, and the meat is covered in sauce, but not drowning in sauce. There was enough food for 4 meals on that platter and it was as enjoyable reheated as it was fresh. I will be eating here again and again!“

“I was hungry and I know their food is good so I came back.

I wanted to try something new so I got the combination noodle soup that had pork slices, chicken, shrimp, liver with egg noodles, veggies and broth.

The egg noodle is perfect, the broth was decent, the chicken and shrimp was ok, the garlic was good, the pork slices were good and there was little pieces of fried pork belly which was really good but I don’t think liver should be in there. I guess it tastes like how liver should but yea lol.

It was ok overall, I should have just gotten what I got last time which was the braised beef egg noodle, that was really good. I guess next time!“

I see a lot of negative reviews in the past for here, and I don't get it. Other than I think people's expectations for instant gratification may be a big influence. They definitely do a decent amount of takeout business, but I hope people support this place! It's a no-nonsense mom & pop little restaurant with good Thai food. I had the Chiang Mai Noodles which is in a yellow curry like a soup. Beautiful presentation (see picture), I ordered 4 star spiciness and received the perfect bit of burn and runny nose, extremely flavorful, noodles were perfect, crispy noodles on top for some crunch. It was a generous serving but I just devoured it until the bowl was empty. My mom had pad Thai, my dad the red curry, both were happy. Also got the crab crispy dumpling appetizer and fresh rolls to start and they were fresh and great! This is great Thai food serving a local community. If you want Michelin star service, go pay $500 per person somewhere downtown Seattle or whatever. My food was tasty. My water was refilled. Food came out at a normal speed because they weren't busy, and the group of 6 that ordered after us also got their food soon after and they all seemed pleased. They asked to make sure there were no peanuts in one person's dish due to allergy and that they used Canola oil and not peanut oil, both of which the server confirmed. Support small businesses and restaurants, it's tough out there for these little places!“
