“My first time dining for my husband 50th birthday. Our waitress Destinee was amazing. She provided us with a detailed history of the house where the restaurant is operating out of built in 1879. Destinee made wonderful food recommendations and made our celebration a memorable one. The food was delicious from first course lump crab salad to quail. Our main course dishes were beautiful plated with French influences. Also I have to add their chef is one of the best in the area. We can't wait until our next special celebration. Thanks again!”

“This was my family and I first time at Alpaca. We should have took a picture of the before and after plates. But we cleaned the plates. The food was fresh and very flavorful. My family and I were amazed with the great staff. But the Manager Eli was top notch with his customer service. He saw use looking like we was lost and he appreciated us with a great smile and a positive attitude. He made suggestions on what to get and different sauces that go with the yuca fries. That green sauce got the perfect amount of spice and flavor. He gave us a sample of the sweet plantains and the yuca fries. We went with the yuca fries. Both were very good.Lomo saltado 5starsChicken is 5 starThe food overall was good. Will be coming back for more”

“In a time where great food and great service is scarce, this place is a jewel. I chose this place to celebrate a family birthday based on a great word of mouth referral and the birthday girl loves Indian cuisine. The place is beautiful and clean inside! The atmosphere is upscale from decor to lighting. You relax when you walk in. Did I mention the cloth pressed napkins!! What? The music plus at a volume that adds to ambience but not annoyingly loud do you can’t hear each other talk. It is not too bright, but not too dark either. The food was prepare with attention to detail and tasted delicious. You can ask for no spice if you are not into Spicy food. The service is excellent. The servers don’t hover or intrude, but are right on time for your needs. As I mentioned, we celebrated a birthday. I brought a large cupcake and a candle and had it on the table before guests arrived. The server asked if he could plate it in the back for later. I was so happy for the offer. Later, he came out with this amazing long plate with happy birthday written on the plate in rainbow gorgeous writing. He even lite it as he approached the table. Then a happy birthday song began to play over their sound system! It was so thoughtful and added that specialness to the evening that is hard to find today in the service industry. “Right when you walk inside this place makes an impression! It looks like Arizona dering Día de los Muertos, it feels like a dead man's party. The regular salsa is refreshing and I can never stop dipping in it. The food is so good, like the arroz con pollo, which is just like half a seasoned chicken instead of dry white meat. The enchiladas de puebla are also great. My favorite by far is the carnitas, you can't find anything like it on this side of the country. The pork is braised in beer and is just magical. And yes there is a train, and yes everyone loves it. The wait can be very very long on the weekends, but the staff are always very friendly so I never mind too much. It's not too expensive so I think it's honestly the best restaurant in Raleigh for families! They also help promote small business sometimes, like they used to sell really good chocolate for this Columbine guy. Anyway, this place is good and you must go or ELSE! Last thing, I think the restaurant has changed hands because it has gotten way better in the last couple years.Parking: The parking is actually pretty iffy. It gets packed to the point of no spots, but you can just go park in the shopping center.Kid-friendliness: There is a bar but it's mostly split from the tables. Side note, the tortillas are really good ?”

We did dover sole as Mid course it was good but way too many bones def just need better execution. Steak was excellent but we never received any of our sides which was ok we over ordered. Desserts were great cheesecake we even got second to go it was so yummy. Paid for but never got our dessert wine cause we felt bad saying something twice. Espresso martini was ok. Wine list great, whatever the lilac cocktail I had was in beginning was so good I got two. Server was a doll which made up for all the things that never happened. “Stopped at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. If you're a vegetarian your options are really only salads or the butternut squash ravioli, but don't let this deter you from coming. The butternut squash ravioli was the best ravioli I've ever had. It was rich and creamy with the perfect mix of mushroom and sweetness from the squash. The marinated avocado salad was delicious as well. I don't usually like blue cheese but it was very mild in this dish. The people I was with ordered the pot pie which they said was great. The service was also great and everyone was extremely friendly. Would 100% recommend.”

“While visiting Raleigh, we stopped in to this delightful hot honey chicken eatery. I had the Carolina Reaper. Advice: Get the sauce on the side. It is a spicy devil. My everlasting love for eternity got the classic, which we split, of course. We shared fries with 2 different aioli sauces. We also shared a side of Mac and cheese. A little dry but quite tasty. No drinks or desserts this time, but I'm sure we will be returning.”

Everything about what I had was delicious and flavorful. What was surprising is my husband's reaction - he said it was the best meal out he'd had in a very long time. Thank you for helping to show him that eating vegan doesn't mean you have to sacrifice anything. “We were first blown away with the ambiance. Felt like we stepped into another world. We were seated quickly. We went around 7pm on a Saturday. I'm not sure if we got lucky or not but we were able to walk right in and get seated. They do take reservations. The staff was very nice and helpful 100% of the time. My niece was with us and while they do not have a kids menu, they were prepared to concoct something that she would enjoy. Luckily, thanks to youtube, she has been wanting to try dumplings and enjoyed the Chicken & Garlic Wontons. She loved them. The food overall was delicious. They brought out an abundance of sauces and that is always a win for me because I'm the sauce Queen. I'm not sure about parking because we parked at the place we originally came downtown for earlier in the day. I did not see easy parking close by, just street parking. I recommend this restaurant for date night, trying something new, or girls night. Try it! You won't be disappointed.”

“I highly recommend Margaux's Restaurant to anyone wanting a great meal at moderate cost. The interior design and scenery inside Margaux's is unique and eclectic with lots of art that keeps you interested, commenting, and looking around throughout the meal. The service was excellent and our waitress knew all of the details about the menu, but she wasn't annoying about it. The waitress also had a great ratio of checking on us versus letting us eat/enjoy ourselves. The food was incredible, we ordered the Brussels sprouts, spinach salad, and Thai coconut soup, which were all really tasty and had perfect portion sizes. For the main course, we ordered the Yellowfin Tuna and Asado Chicken; both were large portions, delivered as ordered, and tasted great. I'd love to have the tuna again, it was cooked to perfection. I would definitely return to Margaux's as the menu changes daily/weekly. The total cost for drinks/food/tip was very reasonable and valued appropriately when compared to the food quality the restaurant delivered.”

Crawford and Son 618 N Person St, Raleigh American • $$$

“We ate here for our anniversary and really enjoyed it! We made reservations for 2 at the bar because all the table reservations before 9 pm were full, but when we arrived, a table was open and offered to us, which was really nice! (LIkely, we also would have been happy at the bar, but I'm pregnant, so the comfy booth seat was welcome.) The service was superlative, both from our attentive server and others who jumped in any time they walked by and saw something that could be done. The non-alcoholic cocktail was fantastic! Both food and drink menus are curated rather than extensive. We are parents of a small child who rarely get out to restaurants, so when we do go, we love to taste a variety of options on the menu. Your ordering style may vary. For starters, we ordered the yellowfin crudo (a standout and possibly the best dish from my perspective) and crispy porcelet belly (very tasty, although the skin was more tough and chewy than crispy). The manchego-herb biscuits were amazing in taste and texture, like, how do they do that? For entrees, we had the lamb loin and bavette steak. My lamb was nice, but the flavor of the steak dish (my husband's) was unreal. (Normally, I would have ordered the seafood, but the only option was swordfish, and I had already used up my weekly serving of potentially-high-in-mercury seafood with the yellowfin crudo, worth it!) After sharing two appetizers, biscuits, and an entree each, we were really full. However, I had been anticipating the triple cheesecake with rhubarb, so we got a portion to go. It was unusual - very strong on the savory cheese flavor in the cake - but we both really liked it. (Would I have liked more rhubarb? Yes, but I love rhubarb, and not everyone agrees. Rhubarb skeptics, this is a safe dish for you.) Two starters, two entrees, a side, two drinks each, and one dessert put our total just north of $200. Not a huge consideration for us, but it's a small-ish space with dark decor and modern, minimal lighting. I've spoken with others who remembered it as a bit cramped. The music is... not quiet... with prominent bass, but we sat next to each other and were able to talk. We definitely plan to go back. Edited to add: We were also really impressed by the short ticket times! Our food came out very promptly, and we finished three courses and had our take-out dessert ready to go in just over an hour. We also didn't feel rushed, as though we could have lingered without any pressure from the server to free up the table. As folks who no longer get out much, that's a huge plus.”

“Figulina has done an excellent job transforming the Humble Pie space into a pasta-making Mecca. You can watch the chefs hard at work making wells in dough and forming the sheets for ravioli and agnolotti. Our service was a bit spotty but the food was wonderful. We tried the Doppio Ravioli, which was delectable with roasted carrots in half and rabbit confit in the other. The Pappardelle Bolognese was also hearty and flavorful. We also tried the Brussels which are served in a cold salad and the beets with whipped ricotta. My dinner companions did not love the soda bread that came with the lamb rillette but the dish itself was tasty. We will definitely be back for more of the fresh Italian pasta with an English twist!”

“One of the better sushi spots around. The nigiri and sushi roll we ordered were on point. The house salad could use some work -- the ginger dressing is thin, store bought, not the big clump of house ground ginger dressing that I was hoping for (might be better if asked for extra dressing; avocado was a nice touch though. Spring leaves over iceberg is fine but would be better chopped a bit, felt like an italian salad). Miso was good as well. Mochi ice cream for dessert -- mango by far the best flavor. Will come back here for sushi again.”

Vivo Ristorante 7400 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh Italian • $$

“When I first moved down here from New Jersey, my brother and I found Vivo. We were so grateful because where we are from, we are used to having top notch authentic Italian places close by. When we first came, we were ecstatic about the food. It made us feel like we were back home a filled a huge void that we had in the southern Italian scene. Pizza, pastas, and especially the pasta fagioli soup absolutely incredible never tasted a better version, in fact, as an avid home cook, I tried to dissect what they were doing to make the soup so flavorful and delicious. I came to the conclusion/assumption that they must have been blending some of the ingredients like the beans and veg into the broth, which gave it the perfect viscosity and flavor. I have recommended Vivo to over 100 people as a hidden gem of the area because of this soup alone lol.A little bit back, they started to make some changes. Starting with the menu, which eliminated both my brother and I's go to entrees (chicken cannelloni and linguine w clams/shrimp). Of course restaurants want to stay exciting and make changes which I support, but these changes did not seem to be going in a better direction. (IMO) We made adjustments because prior, everything was delicious. We started trying some new things and a lot of it still great, but the new items didn't quite do it like the old. If they did, I would have no complaints. Lately, the changes have become a little intolerable. Mainly because the quality of food has been falling off a bunch. My brother was always very into the chopped salad, the way it was finely chopped and loaded w great accoutrements, good acid, although now it has become more leafy, less dressed (mostly oil)less chopped, and less topped. The most heartbreaking change has to be the soup tho. It went from what I have called the best soup I have ever had, to what tastes like chicken broth out of the box. It lost all of its thick rich flavor and has been a huge disappointment which has led to our decline in going. I hate to talk like this about Vivo because they are great people who has brought us many great meals, but I want to bring awareness to whoever can control these variables that it is very recognizable to the customers. Whether it is to save time money or effort, it has been the cause of losing some of your most loyal customers and may not be worth it.There are still plenty of things that are incredible about Vivo, and I do plan to come back, but what was once a weekly routine that we looked forward to has fallen off our list of options quickly with the changes that have taken place over the past year. At the very least, bring the old pasta fagioli recipe back. I'm writing this review because we were just talking about where we should eat tonight, which used to not even be a question for our early in the week dinner routine, because we always wanted Vivos. And I'm sad to say that we don't consider it anymore because of the kitchens decline. I am still giving four stars because of all the joy that this place has brought us in the past. Thank you for reading and I hope management/kitchen take this in a way that can help Vivo in the long run.”

“Going back there brings back phone memories of 20 to 25 years ago when I used to frequent it those years ago. Back then, there were very few good eateries in Raleigh. 42nd street still has the old charm and the uniqueness that couldn't be lost. The staff and service is top-notch and will make you want to come back. The food was not as good as I remember, but still a great meal. I've been exposed to so much since those happy times, but so glad i had a chance to go back.”

STIR 4242 Six Forks Rd #100, Raleigh New American • $$

“The food and drinks were delicious. However, once we were seated, it took over 30 minutes for anyone to even come to our table. No welcome, no water, no “I'll be right with you”, nothing. However, once the server came over, he was very nice and attentive. The service was great (once we got it).”

“Birthday celebration was memorable. We'll definitely return. The three of us tried Chicken and Waffles, Steak Ceasars Salad, Smash Burger all were delicious, adult beverage was on point. Our waitperson was attentive which helped make the experience enjoyable. Parking is challenging, so give yourself time for your reservation. Only negative was the washroom sink sprayed out all over clothes washing hands, bummer.”

“I have enjoyed eating here every time I come to Raleigh during daytime hours. Their food items offer a wide variety of food choices and the amazing taste makes you question if your actually eating their healthy food selections. I also love the Juice Bar menu. I got the "Purple Haze" with vitamin shot and it is so yummy!”

“I have been hearing rave reviews on tik tock and online. So I took my lady to try it out. The risotto balls were just "ok" to me. The Chopped Italian Salad was excellent then the star showed up....the Chicken Parmesan. The Chicken Parm was also excellent . The service was excellent. We had a great time.”

Figulina 317 S Harrington St, Raleigh Italian • $$$

Flavor Hills 319 Fayetteville St Suite 105, Raleigh Southern

“Best customer service I had in a long time. Brianna was a great server, ask for her. My friend and I went on a Wednesday evening, it was busy but comfortable. They had a live artist. The art all over the walls create a really nice vibe. The kitchen was a little slow but nothing too serious considering the crowd. The drinks aren’t worth the price but the food… amazing. A week later and I’m still thinking about the peach cobbler. Will definitely be back.”

“I RARELY give out full five stars but Zaxby’s deserves it! We go there at least once a week (my husband and I) and order the loaded (chicken bacon ranch) fries! It SAYS a side item but it’s more of an actual meal than a side. I LOVE them and can’t get enough!! Way To Go Zaxby’s!Kid-friendliness: They DO have a kids menu!”

Yatai Market 500 E Davie St suite 108, Raleigh Japanese

“We came here on a Thursday night and was suprised to see they had daily specials! it was $4 off rolls (was a little disappointed it wasn't off speciality rolls as it didn't specify which rolls), but we still got 1 speciality roll & 2 traditional rolls. It was delicious! But the star of the show was the salmon crispy rice. The presentation was great but the crispy rice was phenomenal, so many delicious flavors and textures packed into a bite and a pretty good price. I would come back just for that. Yatai is located in Transfer co food hall and was easy to find. We ordered at the counter and then decided to sit at one of the tables. Loved the ambiance. I definitely would recommend this place and will be back again!”

Epic Wings 8107 Creedmoor Rd Suite 105, Raleigh Chicken Wings • $

“So excited this place came to the East Coast.. Another banger from Southern California (used to be called Wings N' Things)! My family loves this place. The strips with breadsticks are to die for with the ranch dressing. Something about the combination of the three.. The staff here have all been extremely kind to us when we have got or orders to pickup. We did have an issue with the correct amount of breadsticks however it was quickly taken care of and they even gave us a treat due to the mix up. Very clean bathrooms and lobby area.”

“I visited the other two Incendiary locations and enjoyed them both. I had a random Saturday available, so my daughter and I decided to check out the Raleigh location. We were not disappointed. The taproom is awesome! I'm not sure what the lighting in the bar is supposed to be, but it looks like lava, and that's pretty cool. Incendiary brews a ton of amazing beers, so that was never in question. The staff was awesome and we had an amazing time. I highly recommend this place to any craft beer drinker in the triangle.”

“We wanted pasta and bread but didn’t want to sit down at an Italian restaurant. This was the perfect quick dinner. Kinda of reminds you of Chipotle/Cava but for pastas. They have bowls and wraps too but their garlic Parmesan bread was amazing! They made our salmon to order so there was a little bit of a wait but it was worth it— the best FAST CASUAL salmon we’ve ever had! ?”
