Restaurantji's guide to Guadalupe's top Mexican dining experiences.
“Post-Quarantine Review: 7.12.21 One of the best local, hole in the wall gems. The señor and the workers are seeing here every day, support local Arizona. And they had the breakfast in town (Huevos Rancheros, Jamon con huevo, Machaca, Chorizo, etc..) not to mention the amazing burritos.. It's quaint yet plentiful. Abundantly elegant. The jukebox in the corner fills the atmosphere with Banda or Cumbia classics. I've been coming here for a few years and it's delicious! If you're in the area please stop by and support LocalAZ! El Niño is amazing. Pro-tip: salsa Verde is delicious!“
“We stopped here for an early dinner while waiting for a delayed flight to arrive. We fell in love with this authentic Mexican restaurant. The food was so fresh and tasted excellent. Although the red salsa wasn't my preference the green salsa was amazing! I had a chicken Taco and my husband has a chicken quesadilla. Someone next to us was having the Birria which looked amazing and another table had a ginormous bowl of soup that also looked so good. We will absolutely be back. Also our waitress had the happiest demeanor and the best smile.“
“The Molcajete De Mariscos and the broiled fish were excellent, but super pricey. Our dinner (for two people), plus a couple drinks was $80, which is probably why this very simple, plain restaurant was completely deserted except for our party on a Friday night.“
“If you know, you know. This counter service Mexican place is a hidden gem. We've been coming to Loreto's for about 2 years and it's hands-down our favorite Mexican joint. The quality is always great and the prices are reasonable.I've never been disappointed in any meal, but my favorite is the Green Chile plate. If you can catch the Pozole, definitely give it a try. It's like a hug for your belly! We like to sit on the dog friendly patio, but most people seem to order to-go or they sit inside. You can order inside or outside. And, I feel this is important to note: the bathroom is always clean.Don't let the location deter you. Order a Steak and Egg and enjoy!“
“I hardly ever leave reviews but I truly felt like this place deserved it. This is the best Mexican food I’ve had in Phoenix. Not only that, but the staff were so incredibly nice. My husband and I ordered an online pickup when I went inside to pick it up and it wasn’t ready they offered me a seat and water. I didn’t wait even 10 minutes over the suggested time for pickup. Everyone I came into contact with was friendly and the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. We got a chicken torta, asada sope, shrimp cocktail, guacamole and chips. Our total was around $63 with a tip. We thought it was a good price for the quality and quantity of food. We will definitely be back!“
“This is actually a 4.5 stars (I rounded up because they are good peeps!), but the parking is ridiculous so go during non rush hours if possible. Also the music is REALLY LOUD! That said... the food is YUM! The service is great, I mean it is casual but everyone is so friendly and makes and effort. Try the Chicken Vampiros! Super Yum!“
“This place is amazing! We are from out of town and were looking for some quality tacos. This place does not disappoint! The service we received was second to none. So kind and thoughtful. We ordered 2 taco platters and they were AMAZING! We had no problem polishing off 33 tacos. The flavor and texture were phenomenal. The salsas have great flavor and the chips were freshly fried. We will definitely be stopping by again before heading out of town, and you should too! Thanks Los Tacos Chefs!“
“The food & service were UNREAL. I got the Al Pastor Torta, & three tacos- all of which were great. The service was fantastic from the second we walked through the door. Such friendly people. I will absolutely be back. Phenomenal place!“
“My wife heard about Just Tacos and More on Instagram. Thought we’d give it a try and were not disappointed. I got the JT Urban plate. She got the Mango tilapia plate. We also added guacamole and chips. All were outstanding. My wife’s might have been the best fish tacos either of us have had.Staff was very pleasant. Restaurant was clean. We’ll be coming back!!!“
“Post gym meal went cray cray fr. The torta with al pastor was very good only wish they’d put more pineapple but regardless still very good. The champurrado was very delectable and creamyyy??. The service was top notch felt very welcoming and homey. A good experience “
“So delicious! We had an open frybread with red and green chile, a machaca burrito combo (with green chile sauce), and plain frybread - all were exy and I would get them again. The machaca was really flavorful and juicy. The plain frybread comes with lots of fun toppings you can add yourself - my favorite was honey + cinnamon sugar. Highly recommended!“
“I just love indian fry bread house, food just be on point hot fresh and delicious ?.Parking: 7th Ave and camelback roadKid-friendliness: Yes they're friendliness and kind, just they're always getting my name wrong but it's ok.“
“Costra taco was one of the best we had during our stay in PHX. The dark salsa that came with the chips was also fantastic. We ate in a group of 8 with a kid so we were worried we wouldn’t find room but we did and it was great. There were high chairs.“
“A Delicious and Funky Neighborhood Gem!The Beach House is a true hidden gem that delights with its unique atmosphere and mouthwatering Mexican-fusion cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a funky, laid-back beach vibe adorned with quirky decor like a defunct 1960s Volkswagen. But the real star is the food! We devoured the famous fish and shrimp tacos, a pork taco, and shared the carne asada nachos. The tacos were bursting with flavor and made with high-quality ingredients that rivaled fine dining. The salsas, from the zesty green to the molten volcano, added the perfect kick.At just $7 for three tacos and with affordable sides like $3 slushie lemonades and a $2 brownie, the value can't be beaten. Despite being incredibly busy, the friendly staff made us feel welcome and accommodated. The Beach House truly embodies the philosophy of "find what you love and do it!" It's a one-of-a-kind taco concept that liberates the humble taco into a culinary art form. With great food, lively vibes, and amazing prices, it's no wonder there was a line out the door of locals. An absolute must-visit!Parking: street parking, parking in the front in spots designated for the The Beach House. Parking in the back of the restaurant also“
“I prefer supporting small businesses. I am so happy I drove by this place and discovered it!Marely’s is the perfect example of not judging a book by its cover. This hole-in-the-wall produces excellent Mexican food. When I first saw this place, I didn’t have high hopes, but I was hungry. I ordered the carne asada taco combo plate and was not disappointed. I appreciate they make their food with care because it is simple, tastes homemade, and doesn't leave you feeling like you just consumed fast food. As one who grew up in the southwest eating a fairly consistent diet of Mexican food, it is hard to find excellent Mexican food amongst the sea of mediocrity. Marely’s is a delightful and refreshing head above the rest.I’m not sure I understand the extensive burger menu options in a Mexican restaurant, but whatever works for them must work for them. I’ll stick with the Mexican fare.I enjoyed it so much I will return when I am in that part of town. Well done.“
“Marc ran my order. Just an egg, cheese, and potatoe burrito. I met Hugo and Omar preparing the food. They were delightful and extremely professional. It's easy to get lazy with food and service, but these guys make the place feel like home.“
“If you are looking for an authentic hamburger, that tastes, fantastic… This place is spot on! I saw their advertising they were open, went inside, the place was clean. The staff is super friendly, and it took my order and delivered it precisely how I requested. Five out of five stars, two thumbs up - a total 10 on the food scale“
“The best tacos, im obsessed and want to go all the time now ? the margaritas are great too! Plus the owner/family that run this place are the nicest people, always friendly and welcoming. If you haven't eaten here definitely try it, you won't be disappointed!“
“My wife heard about Mis Raices Café through family and facebook. We are always looking to try new places around town. My wife, one of our daughters, and I stopped in this morning. The atmosphere was very positive and relaxed with the baristas and other customers. We each had a different drink choice: Duvalin Iced Latte, Marzipan Iced Latte, and a Carmel Iced Latte. All three looked amazing just from the presentation when the baristas made them. They all tasted just as amazing. Once we left we realized we may have been sitting next to the owner and his daughter. If we realized it when we were there we would have told him how impressed we were and it is one of the few we would beyond highly recommend to everyone. No doubt we have found a new favorite local spot we will definitely be coming back regularly. To the entire team at Mis Raices, you are doing a phenomenal job with everything. Thank you!“
“The vibe was easygoing and relaxed. The food was tasty and didn’t feel like it was trying too hard, which is hard to pull of with newer restaurants. Our server was amazing, made sure we were well taken care of but didn’t hover. The cocktails were balanced and smooth. The chocolate cake was the best I’ve ever had, delectable but not overly sweet. The owner was working the line, which I love. Sweet Phoenix spot!“
“Amazing start to finish. Great and prompt service that felt individually tailored. Drinks are fresh, unique, and cold - probably the best margarita I’ve had. My husband and I shared the bone marrow elote and charred cabbage to start. Both were tasty but the charred cabbage was out of this world and I’ll be thinking about it for a long time! We had the carne asada tostada and pork belly for entrees - both equally delicious with super fresh tortillas and tostadas. We split the chocolate jalepeño flan for dessert. Well worth the wait for the hard-to-come-by reservation and can’t wait to go back!“
“Finding this place proved to be a surprising reward. It's very quaint, and the staff is welcoming. The food was amazing, maybe the best green chili pork I've ever had, and you can tell everything is cooked with passion and appreciation for authentic, quality flavors. It's a much needed escape from the basic, Americanized Mexican food that plagues the valley.“
“Authentic Mexican food. Not a tourist trap not Mexican inspired, Authentic Mexican food. The beans are fresh not from a can, the salsa is fresh not from a jar. Just fresh delicious food that is very flavorful. México city style food. The service is excellent. I love going to Así es la vida.Best Totopos I ever had wish they sell them at the supermarket. (Hint, hint)“
“We had the BEST experience eating at Mangos tonight! Pam (the owner) was so hospitable! We felt more like we were eating with an old friend instead of a restaurant. I can’t say enough good things about the service and atmosphere. And the food was SO good! Very family friendly! Probably the best family meal out I’ve had in years.“
“Certainly worth a wait. An event next door so parking was tight but well directed promptly by their parking lot attendant managing the lot in excellent fashion.Great ambience with individually managed little table lamps. Quick service with chips. And of course the salsa bar is a favorite with such a variety of flavors and tastes. We both loved our meals and look forward to going back.Highly recommend! A+“
“This place is a gem complete absolute gem amazing workers, amazing food full-blown unbelievable this is not a chain even though there’s three of them, you can come here and you can know that you’re having fresh fresh amazing food!!!!!$$$$$$$“
“First time trying The Taco Spot & it did not disappoint! We ordered the loaded carne asada fries and birria tacos. The food was so bomb. The tacos were crispy, birria was juicy and the seasoning on point. Loved it! 10/10 We'll definitely be coming back soon!“
“Cool place in Downtown.Manger was super helpful. Fast service and server were niceHad the shrimp empanadas and potato tacos. The shrimp was a hit, and the potatoes were good. They just needed more salt n pepper.Prices were amazing, especially for downtown. Will definitely be going back to try the chicken tinga.“
“Best authentic Mexican food I have ever had. I can't name some of it but the meat tacos and appetizer with mushrooms and cheese was delicious. I also found out after we left Will Ferrell stopped in for a bite. Don't be fooled be the outside, and parking can be difficult, just be patient you will find a place. Salsa for chips was also very tasty.“
“There was a wait to be seated so I sat at the bar. The servers quickly took my order and made sure my water glass was full. I had the traditional carnitas tacos on their house made corn shell. It was flavorful and juicy. The chips and salsa were also top notch. Delicious!Dietary restrictions: I am gluten intolerant so I appreciated the option to choose a corn taco shell.“
“Hadn't been here in a while. Looks like a lot changed but the food is still very good, they still have the pretty chairs and tables and cool decor that transport me to a completely different place. They also have attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommend. It's always pretty busy and parking can be a challenge but this time we went early afternoon and got a parking spot with ease. Food can take a while to come out but they take care of you with chips, salsa, and ceviche tostada. So that's never an issue for us. Some places tell you when things are extra, this is not one of them, so if they offer something I would keep that in mind. Nevertheless, my party had a good time here and enjoyed every dish.“
“This is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to! The food was beyond divine! We came here with friends after spotting they had a separate vegan menu and I can’t fault the food, service or atmosphere. The staff were super helpful and friendly, attentive and eager to answer any questions we had about the food. The drinks were delicious and there’s something for everyone here. The food was next level! We shared the bottomless tortilla chips, had 2 vegan burritos and several cocktails. You must visit this amazing restaurant because it’s authentic and delicious! Also fellow vegans, you will not be disappointed. ?Vegetarian options: They have a separate vegan menuDietary restrictions: Vegan menu! ???Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor restaurant“
“I’ve been going to Blue Adobe for more than 15++ years when a boss took me there for lunch. It is as delicious now as it was then. The food is consistent and tasty. Great New Mexican cuisine. You can’t go wrong, I’ve never had a bad dish here. I recommend the Stacked Enchiladas “Christmas Style” with a fried egg or Yesterday’s Meatloaf. You’ll leave feeling full. It’s the “stick to your ribs” kind of food.“
“We ordered the quesabirrias, tripa tacos, carne asada tacos, al pastor quesadilla, churros, and all 3 of the aguas frescas. They were delicious!! Also the salsas were all so good!! The customer service was 10/10 which is a little rare these days lol We will definitely be back!“
“This place is epically delicious and the couple who own it are wonderful—support their small business!!I stopped here while in town for a convention—bumped into my coworker who was on his 4th Zaguan lunch in a row! Unfortunately, I got the idea to try being vegetarian this month, so I only drooled over the meat options. (Birria and chile verde, omg ) However, I was absolutely blown away by the nopalitos burrito. [Sorry not sorry to anyone who saw me go full Gollum with that thing walking down the street.] I revisited the next morning for some chilaquiles and cafe de olla, then grabbed a quick jackfruit burrito to take to the airport. Did I eat here 3x in ~24 hours? Yes. Would I do it again? Absolutely yes.HOT TIP: Bring a colleague here for a low-key lunch beer.Vegetarian options: Nopalitos (prickly pear cactus leaves); jackfruit; breakfast options with eggs“
“Some of the BEST quesabirria we’ve tasted!! We are fortunate enough to have two places that make some of the great Birria at home in Montana, so our standards may be high. We are OTR truck drivers and it has been extremely difficult to find Birria that has met our expectations being out on the road. Glad we gave this place a try! We’ll definitely be back for more!!“
“Highly recommended! This was my husband's and I first time here and all I can say is AMAZING! Not only was the food very fresh and authentic, but the service was great. We were blessed to meet Irma herself. She is a lovely lady and is so sweet! No doubt, we will definitely be back again and again. Thank you Irma's Kitchen, thank you❤“
“This is the best taco shop ever! Fast service, friendly staff, great food and genuine hospitality. I had the hard tacos, with beef -- best hard tacos I've ever had! They also have very nice looking pescado/fish soup, tilapia, which shows up on the special menu (not sure if it's every day, or not). Picture of menu, attached. Thanks guys!“
“Our new go-to dinner out spot. Consistently delicious southwestern food, great variety of options, everything is fresh and plated beautifully. The selection of drinks is great too. I suggest starting with the sampler platter entree and arrive early and be patient there is often a wait to get in but it's always worth the wait.“
“Omg! What a find! I got my aesthetic supplies next door.. decided to stop in as people kept going in...so glad I did! What took me so long! Delicious and reasonably priced. Yum! I had a Chicken and Carnita Taco. ?? Their Burritos are huge! Next time. ☆☆☆☆☆“
“Wow!! Absolutely amazing pozole definitely one of the best places in Phoenix. I love Pozole so I know what to look for. To start off the spice of the chili is perfect not too spicy and not too bland. The meat is perfectly on point. The hominy is perfectly cooked. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I’m definitely going to be coming back to try the rest of the menu.“
“Really fun place to come eat. The food was really good and had some really interesting flavors. We tried their brussel sprout nachos which exceeded my expectations. Their pickled onions on top were so good. Their elote corn was good but nothing crazy! I got a single taco with braised pineapple pork. Really yummy and the tortilla was super crispy.overall really great place to eat.“
“I didn't get a picture of my food but it was legit! I am from South Texas and while driving through I found this spot to eat while putting gas! I had the asada chimichanga with a side of rice and beans. Portions are huge and the food tasted great! Definitely recommend!“
“Well I went here for your friend's remembrance party / get together. Well I went here for a friend's remembrance party / get together. The atmosphere is the only thing I do not give a five-star rating on because I believe the walls could have been I don't know maybe painted with a mural or something. It just felt like there was something missing besides my friend. But thank you all your service was excellent in your food was above that.“
“Best restaurant in Tempe. Great prices, huge portions and friendly staff that really seem to enjoy what they do. It is also open almost 24/7 so you can go at anytime of the day knowing that you will have enough food in your system for atleast 12 hours. They always hook it up fr. Mucho gracias??“
“Taco Central has great food, consistently good and for a reasonable price. My wife and I happened by this place on accident their first day and became their 1st customer. We continue to visit them about every other week. Everyone is super friendly.“
“This is the BEST location. I’ve tried other locations and they are not the same. Everything on the menu is delicious but I chose the taco salad with Tinga chicken, onions, pico, jalapeños, guacamole, spicy cilantro dressing, and crema. It was delicious.“
“This place is bomb!! My husband brought me here because his tata used to come here a lot. Unfortunately Tata has passed on and to honor him we came here!!! Also, Phil our server was amazing!! Checked on us made sure we were good even asked if we wanted a drink to go!!! Definitely will come here especially that they have Sopapias and I haven’t had them since I was a kid and my husband loved them for his first time having them!!! Thank you phill and all and Don Jose!!! We’ll be back!!“
“Excellent. Traveling often throughout the U.S. and Europe, we are foodies at heart, and Michelin rated restaurants are regular visits on our list. Of note, we also own a little dessert place. This restaurant would rate in one of our top 10 definitely, likely the top 5 experiences for both food and service. Unpretentious, but very well made food does not disappoint. Flavors, well done and unique, yet familiar. Fun and vibrant atmosphere meets the intent, and I feel transported while enjoying my meal. Our server was so friendly and welcoming. We are sad to know the chef's health has declined, and this great place will be closing at the end of May 2024. We are traveling back to Phoenix just to visit this gem in April. Go, while you have the chance. (But please let us in line.)“
“Like an authentic Mexican Country Restaurant, unpretentious, very cheap in what appears to be a Mexican Neighborhood in side of a Mexican Mercado or Market Place as if in side of a fort !They seem to be serving mostly Mexican population and don’t even serve regular American Coffee.Food quality is good and authentic! You even have to buy the water in bottles!.Their Guacamole and Hot Sauce is very good and authentic.Don’t expect good coffee at all, that is unfortunate.“
