“Met my son here for lunch yesterday to celebrate his birthday. He told me the restaurant was highly recommended to him by friends. The food and service did not disappoint. Starting with the chips and salsa - the salsa was so good we bought extra to take home. He had the Enchilada Suizas with beef and I had Green Corn Tamales. His plate was so full he ended up taking part of it home for dinner. I ate most of my amazing tamales, only leaving a bite or two I just couldn't finish. Sooooo good. Probably the best green corn tamales I've had in a long time. The servers were pleasant and attentive. Overall, I'd happily make the drive from Tucson again. Thanks!“

“Been going here for 5 years. One of the best hole in the walls I've ever been to. There's always a line out the door because it's so good people are willing to wait.
The best Sonoran food in the Phoenix area. My go to is the enchilada style burrito (#5) with red sauce. But their whole menu is absolutely fire. Pollo fundido, carne asada fries, tamales, tostado, even the burger is lit.
It's cash only, but there's an atm in site.“

“Stopped by on my way home after seeing Amadio ranch post that they were there! I was not disappointed! Two Quesabirria tacos and Consume for $12! And they were very hearty portions! But they really won me over by putting the onions and cilantro separate on the side – I’m not a fan of cilantro But I do like the bite of the onion so I usually just deal with the cilantro, but I was able to put this onions on without the cilantro🙌🏻🙌🏻“

“I started eating lunches at Don Jose in 1966 while I was pregnant with my daughter. I ate there often because I worked nearby. As the years went by we ate there so many times the “original” staff knew us by name. When they closed down we were saddened, but were so happy when they sold the business (and recipes) and reopened. My daughter and family and almost every close friend I have continue to enjoy the great food, the family atmosphere, friendly staff and owners. I highly recommend Don Jose’. Best find of 1966 through today!!“
