50 Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Phoenix

“A hard-to-get reservation worth waiting for!

I've tried many times to snag reservation when they are released each month. Luckily, we have amazing foodie friends who go often and have an in on cancelations.

Bacanora is located on Grand Avenue in Downtown Phoenix. It's an eclectic area with lots of interesting small businesses, murals on the walls, and stuffed animals hanging from the trees along the sidewalks. The restaurant itself is very intimate with only a few tables and some seats at the bar. The Sonoran inspired dishes come from the amazing creativity of Chef Rene Andrade...who won Best Chef - Southwest at the James Beard awards this year (doesn't make getting reservations any easier).

Everything is cooked over an open flame of a wood-fired grill. We let our friends, and foodie hosts, Brandon and Dana lead us through their favorite dishes... and we were not disappointed! We started with elite on the cob, guacamole, ceviche, and crude. With each dish we raved about how we couldn't believe each one could be better than the last. Everything was mouthwatering. The cocktails were unique and perfect as well. The kicker was our entree. The four of us shared the huge platter (not plate) of bone-in ribeye. It was cooked to perfection and accompanied by tortillas, quesadillas, beans, and blistered green chiles.Chiles. We walked out stuffed and high on good conversation and amazing food.“

“As we sat for our meal, we were impressed by how many people came for take-away. By the end of the meal, we knew why: it was phenomenal. The portions are very large (enough for a leftover meal), and was served quickly. The staff was very friendly, and engaged in conversations - we even met Molly.

If I was a local (visiting relatives), this would be a weekly visit.“

Vegetarian options: The Farmers Market dish is great--seasonal grilled vegetables with a little glaze drizzle on top. We also love the Truffle Fries! A while back they had buffalo style cauliflower which was sooo good! A couple of the bruschetta options are also vegetarian and quite creative.“

“Everything was great. I am a big fan of wood fire pizza, and I travel thr country by motorcycle so I try to hit as many of the "famed" pizza places that I can. My son lives in Phoenix, so we made a reservation as I was passing through town. The pizza was as expected.. excellent. Not unlike many of the places I've tried. We got the Margherita (of course) and the Biancoverde (a white pie with Arugala on top) which was spectacular. I am very happy I tried it. Can't wait to go back.“

“I’ve been coming here for many years mostly late evening so I can’t say too much on the food. Service is good and friendly. Seems like the cocktails have changed in flavor. Before they had so much flavor with a balance of liquor..now just seems like I’m drinking syrup. Needless to say it’s still a great place.“

“Took my crime partner and our pup to OHSO paradise valley for Happy Hour/s!! Not only is OHSO the most dog friendly place in town they have a great craft beer selection. A lot of breweries are reluctant to serve anything but their own beer. Why? OHSO usually has about a 50/50 mix and it’s appreciated. Been into sour beers lately and have had a couple great “guest beers” there. They also mix up their own selections, not content to just sit on the same old same old. All the food has been good. We got the hummus and veggies for the first time and will get again when looking for something light. Crime Partner doesn’t care for beer but OHSO makes a great Mimosa, so bammmmm! And Pup gets her own bowl of water w/her name engraved (sharpy) free treats made from the spent grain and all the attention she can handle!!! BTW- I’ve never seen a dog fight here….a few hoomans, but never dogs! Check em out.“

“I’ve been to Dennys from California all the way to Florida. This location is by far the best location I have been to ever. The server Tamea was absolutely perfect, gave us enough time to make our selections, but didn’t leave us sitting and waiting. The food was A++ Hot and not soaked in oil thank the cook Julian for that. Jill (the manager) was fun, cracked some jokes back and forth when we came in, you can tell the employees enjoy her as they were joking and having friendly conversations the entire time we were there. Would be 10 * if I could. Great staff, great service, and Great food!“

“Went for the first time yesterday and had the best service and food! The lady at the cashier was so helpful and patient with suggestions and advice. We had the peanut tofu wrap and jalapeño chix burger. Both were delicious. On our way out we ordered a “blizzard” and it was so good and she was super helpful again with what to suggest and explain differences in textures. Will definitely be coming back!“

Order anything it will be perfectly made and unique in its own way . We were here on our wedding anniversary and surprised by a semi private room! There is no steak restaurant in the United States that can come close to their quality of food and chefs. “Stopped in on a whim and we were blown away! The entire menu is 100% VEGAN and everything we had was delicious!! The brussel sprouts were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portobello pizza was so full of flavor! The drinks were perfect. The staff was so friendly and right on time with everything. We plan to make this a regular thing.“

“We were staying nearby, and the hotel offered rides to this restaurant. It was happy hour and this place was packed. Sadly, they only had one person working the entire restaurant as far as I could tell, and she was working her butt off doing her best. They had a $5 margarita, and it was made just right, so we had a couple. I ordered off the happy hour menu and look how big the tacos and nachos are. Ridiculous, wife had seafood enchiladas. The whole thing was a great experience, and we will be back. The chips and salsa were worth the trip. The chips were so dang delicious“

“BEST VEGETARIAN INDIAN RESTAURANT IN TOWN!
I like this restaurant for these reasons:

1) The place is spotless and looks elite. I loved the washroom! The ambiance is very pleasing!

2) The quality is outstanding! I loved Veg. Kofta, the taste was excellent! My family ordered around six items, and the quantity was fantastic as per the price.

3) Last but not least, Amit and Dimple, the staff were very hospitable and polite. I liked their service. They were very patient and friendly!

All the Indian folks looking for a vegetarian mind-blowing food must visit this place! I promise no disappointments!“

“Seriously one of the best restaurants in Phoenix. The food is SO DELICIOUS, the staff is always incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is intimate. We love getting the vegetarian platter for 2. They have so many vegan/vegetarian options. I also love their fresh made juice and house made honey wine! This place is a must!!

“I've been fortunate to visit a few times, but on this occasion we had family members for whom it was their first! Very accommodating (as one had some specific dietary restrictions), and generous as well. We always love learning the history of the area and how it ties in with the ingredients. Our waiter was Jeremy, who also made one member (celebrating his birthday) feel extra special. Definitely recommend attending, whether for special occasions or just wanting a unique dining experience.“

“Authentic Indian food with amazing service. This is a true family run restaurant with the entire family working. You won’t find better service elsewhere. We asked for salty lassi which was not on the menu and they had no problem accommodating. Do yourself a solid and come visit Mayas Kitchen!
