He played the piano, juggled his balls, cooked, served us, gave good directions, helped us back out and in general was a nice new friend to meet from mainland China. Nothing more and nothing less, just as I like it. But the crust. The crust! Phenomenal. I have been advised that they sell their dough balls. I have not yet taken advantage, but I fully intend to, though I know my Ooni is a poor substitution for Rocca's beautiful oven. If you don't order the garlic knots, you are a fool. I have had similar at a well-known New Orleans establishment. These are better by far. You have not lived until you have had the whipped provolone. I only wish I could recreate myself as it sadly does not transport well. Their newest special is housemade pastrami on rye. I myself do not eat beef but my husband loves pastrami, so we dropped everything so he could try it without delay. We have visited New York City several times in the past couple of years. My husband has had some GOOD pastrami sandwiches. He says he likes Rocca's better. Better than Katz. Service is always lovely, ambiance is good. If you're going on a Friday or Saturday, make reservations. This is popular spot, and for good reason.”

“This is the best Mexican in Baton Rouge. They have the best salsa! It is a roasted salsa so less acidic, which is what I love about it. Also they have an awesome, creamy green salsa. The table side guac is great too. There's no question they have the best fajitas in Baton Rouge. The chicken is sliced thin and the flavor is just awesome. I don't usually go for steak fajitas but I do here because it's always tender rather than chewy like lots of other places. Homemade tortillas of course, and you see them being made as you walk in. Love this place and when I want good Mexican, it is always my first choice!”

“Extremely rude workers. They delete comments if they don't like the review. We had a party of 10 and waited like they asked then they tried to seat us at a table for 6 people. Five people would be piled on top of each other on a booth. asked to add a table ( there were 3 empty tables right by us) they said no but we could wait an additional hour for a table. asked for manager and a girl comes out saying she is manager. No apologies no nothing. We did call ahead and were told no same day reservations but they had a big enough table to accommodate us. I have been reading reviews and there are a ton similar to our experience. It's starting to seem they do not want to accommodate large parties and try to make the experience so unbearable that they eventually leave. We ALWAYS tip over 25 percent even when service sucks. Their loss!!”

I will say that I really do love waffle House. One of the few places that cook your food to order and they use real eggs, so I am OK waiting. I do feel that if there were more staff at this location that they would’ve been able to fulfill not only my order but the other customers in the restaurant quicker but I understand in this climate, it’s hard to find good people, thank you for my food. If you are going to get their waffles, make sure you eat them there while theyre fresh. Because if you take it to go, by the time you make it home the texture is like the microwaved kind. It has nothing to do with the quality of the waffle itself, it has to do more with the container. It retains moisture from the steam and therefore causes soggyness.”

“Elsie’s is a favorite of mine so it was a no brainer to go there for my birthday back in March. It was the first time for my boyfriend, who’s from Kenner, and he was throughly impressed. We got the red bean hummus and crawfish queso to start because I think EVERY MEAL should start with those two. The entrees were delectable as always and to top it all off, they had my all time favorite pie in the case. We took home a whole chocolate pecan pie because who needs birthday cake when you can have birthday pie?!?! All in all, a perfect evening at Elsie’s as always.”

Nevertheless, I'd been seeing someone post delicious-looking dishes on social media and so I went back. The interior of the restaurant has not changed, possibly ever. This is not a bad thing, in fact, it's quite comfortable. The service was attentive and the food came out quickly. Now, for the food. I liked the salad. It's a great tangy dressing. I like good salad that isn't overly complicated. As someone who isn't a fan of tomatoes, I liked that it only had a tomato wedge and not chopped up tomatoes that I had to pick out. It was also a really good size salad. The chicken shawarma had good flavor, but it was a bit dry. The rice pilaf was standard fare. I LOVED the flavor and texture of the hummus. The pita was thin which was different. Next time I go, I will definitely get the hummus again and hope to try one of their special dishes.”

Now as for as service the gentleman that took my order was very nice but after I got in my truck and down the road I discovered that I had no utensils for the sides and no tortillas. “Have loved Counter Culture for years. My "go-tos" are the turkey melt on Jalapeño cheddar bread and the Humphrey Yogart. Their bread is amazing and I keep forgetting to ask if they make it in house. Employees are attentive, quick and cordial. The inside is clean and decorated with LSU posters. I usually use the drive through and the wait is never very long. Would recommend trying this BR staple.”

“A friend referred me to Stone and Cloth last year, when I told her I was looking for a new stone for my breakfast table. My mother and I walked into their shop pre-lockdown and were warmly welcomed by Kelly Kirby. She gave me great suggestions for a replacement stone and a list of the Stone Distributors in town to search for my desired slab. Her suggestion for the marble was spot on and that’s the one we selected for our breakfast table. Since I placed my order during the lockdown, installation was delayed until phase 2 would allow for work to commence. During the waiting period, Kelly worked with me regarding having my existing breakfast table stone retrofitted for one of my bathroom counters. They removed the existing sink and under-mounted a new one to freshen up bathroom. At the same time, we realized the remaining piece of the slab for the breakfast table would fit perfectly in a second bathroom and a new sink under-mounted as well. We are very pleased with the excellent fabrication of all of the stone work and the installers had been polite, thorough and efficient. I highly recommend using Stone and Cloth for all of your building needs.”
