“Highly recommend. We enjoy the food but appreciate everyone has different preferences. Clean restaurant, great ambience, and quick excellent service. Ample parking and right across from Lougheed Mall and other stores so you can also do some shopping. My kids also enjoy this restaurant.“

“A hidden gem in Burnaby – like a little piece of Japan tucked into a hole in the wall.
This place might not look like much from the outside, but the food is absolutely incredible. The flavors are authentic, the ingredients fresh, and every bite feels like a trip to Japan. From the perfectly crafted sushi to the rich, comforting bowls of curry, everything is full of care and flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious, and the staff are warm and welcoming. If you're looking for a delicious, no-frills Japanese food experience in Burnaby, this spot is a must-try!“

“The ramen here is comparable to Ichiran Ramen. They use the thin noodles and it is cooked aldente. The broth is perfectly flavored, not too sweet. Everything about my Tonkotsu Ramen was perfectly harmonious. The charshui was the best I have ever had. No stinky pork smell and well marinated. The charshui was better than Ichiran Ramen for sure. I guess the only thing that was lacking was the atmosphere but when the food is so good it really doesn’t matter.“
“An exceptional sushi restaurant given it's relatively remote location. The sushi were as good as those served in Vancouver and Burnaby city center. The restaurant feels comtepory, bright and clean. Service was friendly and fast. Highly recommended for those visiting this area.“

“Wow, we are so happy to finally find a quality sushi place in Burnaby! Everything was wonderful. The food was fresh, delicious and well presented.
The agadashi tofu, on particular, was unique (very lightly battered with awesome sauce).
Light music added to the nice ambiance 🙂“

“The food was good although a little pricey. The sushi and scallop motoyaki were on par with most other sushi restaurants around. The gyu don lacked flavour. We were happy to be seated quickly but the service was slow even though the restaurant was half empty and there were many staff. The coconut mango desert was a hit.“

“Amazing spot! The service is always top notch and the food is incredibly fresh and clean. The sushi is packed with flavor and beautifully presented, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. Taku has quickly become one of my favorite local restaurants!“

“Absolutely loved this place! The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was cozy yet modern—perfect for a date night or casual dinner. Service was top-notch: friendly, attentive, and quick. You can really tell they care about quality and customer experience. The prices were surprisingly cheap for the quality you get. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!“

“I was happy to see a Sushi Restaurant back again. Even meaning to try it out, so stopped in last week to grab a menu. Decided to try it out for a late lunch today. I am so glad I did. The decor is very nicely done, and the atmosphere is friendly and intimate(although I did takeout, but just giving my impressions). The staff was super friendly and helpful. The quality of the food was spectacular, and as I had ordered a lunch special, the value for the amount I spent was great. I will be going back...often. I think it was only $13.95 for "Vege Set A", and it was a filling meal. It came with Miso Soup, Salad, 6pc Yam Tempura Roll, and 8pc Vegetable Roll. I tried something different in going with Veggies, but that Vegetable Roll will be on my next order for sure.
Thanks so much, Haku Sushi for a great meal at an awesome price, which has become rare to find in this day and age.
Vegetarian options: The 8pc Vegetable Roll was simply awesome. It had Cucumber, Avocado, Pickled Radish, and Pickled Squash. It was very tasty and flavourful.“

“Very nice, lots of great choice for rolls and fried food. The only trouble is that the quality of the food may vary unpredictably.“

“Came here on a weekend evening, and it was fairly quiet. We ordered the volcano roll, house roll, chef’s special roll, and the tuna bite. Portion is on the smaller side, and flavour is decent but there is nothing too special. Most of the sauces use a red pepper base so the special rolls do taste a bit peppery. The staff was also very friendly and environment was cozy.“

“I came here for Japanese food and it's really good , I don't really have any complaints at all.
-The mango Tango roll was like so amazing they had more than enough toppings and the flavor was like nothing I have had before
-the takoyaki was pretty good , I loved how the outside had a crispy shell , encasing the gooey inside. It was a tad pricy for how much we got though.
-the cherry blossoms roll was pretty good I loved how tangy and sweet it was.
-The veggie udon was solid , noodles had good texture , soup could use more flavor.
- the wasabi mayo prawn was alright , the sauce only tasted sweet and there wasent enough flavor so I had trouble finishing it.
Service was good , I will probably come back especially for that mango Tango roll.“

“The food was overall excellent. The flavors were clean and well-balanced, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh.
I personally prefer sushi rolls with more filling than rice, and this place perfectly matched my taste. The ratio of the filling to the rice was exactly what I prefer. The seasoning was excellent, and the ingredients were fresh. My picky daughter also loved it, which made me like it even more.“

“I came for a late lunch with a friend on a Sunday. I think price is really reasonable for the amount of food we received. I had to pack some home. Service was very friendly and food tasted really fresh. I really enjoyed the angry bird roll and will order next time! The staff came by at least 5 times to fill our tea which is wonderful. P.s. I took the photo mid way eating.“

“TOGO Sushi SFU is probably the best sushi option on top of Burnaby Mountain. The rolls are filling, affordable compared to nearby restaurants, and the interior of the restuarant is clean and bright. I have always had a good interactions with staff and orders come out timely. Solid spot!“

“Sushi S is a great find. The food is delicious: the deluxe sushi combo was fresh, and the chicken yakisoba was flavorful. The vibe is chill, and the service is quick. It feels like a perfect, cozy spot for a good Japanese meal, and it’s a nice alternative when the neighbor's line is crazy“

“Was here for lunch and enjoyed it. The service was great. Decent quality for sushi and great value. The Bento boxes were very filling, there was Uni, and great selection of sushi. I would recommend it and will be back if I'm looking for sushi in that area again.“

“Been coming here since they opened long ago. A much bigger restaurant than their first location near Metrotown. Fast food sushi and good value for your money. Service is no nonsense but still efficient and somewhat friendly. We ordered the “loveboat” which is a throw back to the 90’s when every sushi restaurant had some type of “boat” on the menu. I still miss the early 2000’s when sushi garden first came on the scene. Much less focused on turning tables and speed but more focused on substance and detail. Trying not to be nostalgic here but it is hard when you can remember how it use to be.“

“*This is an updated review as I finally had the chance to dine in*
Good neighbourhood place for sushi with value. I ordered at the counter and chose to dine in. The waitresses served my food quickly and the portion of rice-to-filling ratio was great. The space is small, with 3 tables, and was very clean & tidy. My only criticism is that I was not offered hot tea despite choosing to dine in.“

“We ate here after a hike, and I got to say this sushi place is outstanding! We had Dynamite roll, Salmon nigiri, Unagi nigiri, Kilala House roll, Salmon maki and Tamago nigiri. The dynamite roll and the salmon nigiri was alright, but the unagi nigiri and Tamago nigiri were the best. Unagi nigiri melted in my mouth and the Tamago nigiri was so sweet and tasty. I would recommend unagi nigiri.“

“Large portions for the price. Chicken teriyaki was dry. BBQ ribs were nice. Nothing to complain about the sushi. Combo has a good variety of dishes. Good place to get a decent meal for less. Would visit again.
Ordered from the website, not sure what the maintenance fee was, but it offsets the discount. I would still avoid Uber and doordash as they kill businesses. Maybe call in to order is the best?“

“The salmon poke bowl was pretty good! The fish was fresh and there were a lot of toppings and just enough sauce! Although, the rice and meat/topping ratio was a little off for me. I had a lot of leftover rice, but overall pretty good! The workers were also very nice.“

“My girlfriends and I went to this place to try and we were pleasantly pleased with the service and food. We ordered the One Meter Special Roll for 3 people that included 6 rolls. We also ordered the Shrimp Sashimi cooked twice. Everything was yummy, service was great and the atmosphere/deco was pleasing. Street parking is available in front of restaurant or across the street at the supermarket parkade. Definitely, we would try this place again.“

“We visited to this hidden gem.
We had an amazing time. The food was amazing! We especially loved Salmon steak spaghetti and assorted Sashimi.
And we came back to here right next day to try some rolls, it didn’t disappointed us ?
Wish we had found it sooner.“

“Hidden gem in Burnaby North, best Japanese/Korean venue on Hastings in Burnaby. Definitely the best tempuras in Lower Mainland that I've ever eaten; light and crispy thin batter, not greasy at all. Restaurant overall cleanliness well maintained, convenient parking, exceptionally pleasant and attentive staff. Highly recommended for anyone wishing a happy meal with friends or families for reasonable pricing for similar venues in area.“

“I like the salmon sushi 🍣 The salmon flesh is plump and delicious. Kids also really like sushi with meat. I go here often because it suits the tastes of children and adults. The kitchen is open, so it's reliable, and the sushi is fresher and more delicious than anywhere else, and the prices are reasonable.
If you eat it with miso soup, you can enjoy sushi even in cold weather.
Kid-friendliness: It's located inside a shopping mall, so it's great to go with children, and there are quite a few tables and chairs in the food court.“

“Went here with my girlfriend, served right away with tea and menus. Got our food in about 15 mins, portion size is great and doesn’t take away from the food or quality. Price point was amazing, for two of us it was $55 with tip and we ordered four items off the menu. Lastly…
Ignore the random 1 star reviews, those reviewers wouldn’t know good food for a good price if it walked up to them.
This will now be my regular sushi spot. It’s that good!“

“I recently visited Green Leaf Sushi and had a pretty decent experience overall. The service stood out as very good—staff were attentive and friendly, which added a nice touch to the meal. The décor, on the other hand, felt a little “so-so,” nothing bad but nothing particularly memorable either.
In terms of food, I tried several dishes: the seaweed salad, beef teriyaki don, wild salmon sashimi, and agedashi tofu. The sashimi was fresh and enjoyable, and the beef teriyaki don was hearty, though fairly standard. The agedashi tofu was crisp and pleasant, and the seaweed salad was refreshing. Everything was solid, though not mind-blowing.
Overall, I’d say it was an **okay experience**—not bad at all, but not exceptional either. Prices are definitely on the higher side, which makes the value feel a bit stretched given the quality and atmosphere.
Would recommend if you’re in the area and don’t mind paying a little extra for good service and decent sushi.“

“March 16th, 8:30 pm
went out for dinner with friends and had some fresh sushi. The service was great—the servers were kind, attentive, and checked in to make sure everything was good.
We ordered a few different sushi rolls, and every single one was amazing. I got the BC roll and wasn’t sure if I’d like it because of the salmon skin, but I wanted to try something new. Honestly, it tasted great, and I really enjoyed it!“

“Came here one evening after hearing about this place from a coworker. Walking in there, the atmosphere was nice & the stag was very friendly! We got our food after about 3 minutes of waiting.
I got the Deep Fried California Roll with extra sauce. The exterior was crispy & the taste was alright. Honestly it was about as good as “Mall Sushi” can get, so I was happy with it, but don’t expect this to blow you away. The sauce added a nice element as well & was tasty!
Overall, I’d give Togo Sushi a 7.8/10. Not sure if I’d go back, or if I’d trust anything else here, but it was about as good as I expected.“

“For the price, this is a very good sushi place. I really liked their squash kabocha! You get the sweetness from the squash and deep frying it just elevated the flavor even more. Perfect place for students or people looking to get their moneys worth.“

“I’ve been to Makoto many times over the years and it’s amazing how the owner’s been able to keep prices affordable despite the rise in cost of living in the city. His lunch specials are still an amazing deal with a variety of options to choose from - any 2 for $15. Bento boxes at $20-24 is amazing value for an authentic Japanese restaurant.
The most amazing part of Makoto is the fact that the owner manages both the sushi bar and all of the front of house efforts as a one-man show. And he does it with a smile on his face and is kind to all his guests.
A great authentic and affordable gem in South Burnaby!“

“This restaurant is inside a historic heritage building. I thought it was cool. There’s also a free parkade to the side.
As for the sushi, it's decent. Not mind blowing, but it’s tasty and delicious.
Just don't order the sushi pizza or deep fried California roll... 😑
Would I come back again? Oh for sure.“
