“I visited this unique restaurant few days ago. Love the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. Because i visited on Thursday afternoon, they weren't too busy. I ordered the bbq mutton stock and lamb hotpot. Both of them are super delicious. They even customised the spiciness to my like. I had a very pleasant conversation with the owner. And I revisited again 3 days later to try out other variety. If you like spicy food, I would definitely recommend this.
Parking: There are more parking lots at the back.“

“This is a family-owned Shanghainese restaurant that offers a variety of authentic dishes, including classics like Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and Sheng Jian Bao (pan-fried buns). The food arrived quickly and was served piping hot, showcasing the kitchen’s efficiency.
The Xiao Long Bao were exceptionally juicy, with flavorful broth and perfectly seasoned, firm filling, although it does have thicker skin than Wangs in Vancouver. The Sheng Jian Bao, a delicious pan-fried bun, had a crisp bottom and was packed with savory soup, offering a wonderful balance of textures. Another bonus was, it wasn’t too oily.
I’ve tried the dan dan noodles and the peanuts were crunchy and provided an enjoyable contrast to the softer dishes. The noodles were slightly overcooked.
Bean paste noodles - huge portion and really flavorful.
Overall, the meal was satisfying, and the prices are reasonable for the quality and location.
This restaurant is truly a gem for anyone craving authentic Shanghai-style cuisine in the area. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu!“

“Very Kind servers(all of them) and good foods. Prices are on the cheaper side, too. Chicken skewers and mapo tofu(Our order is no oyster sauce, just spicy with peppers), fried squid, spicy fish dish are our favorites. Most dishes on the menu are good. Draft beer was fresh. They offer you one small snack for free upon arrival :) I can smile every time I come here.“

“The food is amazing, quality of ingredients as well as just the combination of flavors is awesome and to get anything similar you would have to travel hours.
Anyone complaining about how long it takes should order in advance rather than post invalid reviews, food like this HAS TO TAKE TIME which is why it tastes how good it is, if you can’t wait this long for something out of this world go get fast food.
City is blessed to have such a talented chef willing to share his food.“

“Great Chinese food, generous portions & fab bakery.“
“I ordered the 乾炒牛河 (Stir-fried Beef Noodle) and the taste was authentic. Generous portion with lots of meat and rice noodle but the beef quality was not the best. You get what you pay for, but I wish the beef quality was better so I could really enjoyed this dish because they had a good chef. I have ordered Salt & Pepper Crispy Chicken before, so will probably order again. Very good and friendly service!“

“We rushed in for a late lunch almost 3pm The owner recommended us to try their Four meat balls noodle which was absolutely delicious. The thin noodle just tasted like Hong Kong’s. The curry beef brisket also just the right taste. Next time we will definitely go back try their sweet and sour pork.“

“Been eating here for years. Love the cozy cafe atmosphere. Don’t expect a fancy restaurant, just a simple small neighborhood cafe that serves up good food. The owner always remembers our name and what we love to eat. Makes you feel at home. Excellent prices. Good food. Family owned and operated. Highly recommended for take-out too.“

“I always have had a good experience in the 15 years I’ve been coming here. Heidi and all the staff are wonderful. I love supporting them and seeing everyone. The large portions for dinner are incredible for the price!!! I always have left overs. I love that they offer many vegetarian options too. They offer many Canadian-Chinese dishes and traditional Chinese dishes with some Canadian/American favourites (like hamburgers). I recommend the mushroom fried rice, onion pancakes (it’s like rosti), or the bean spout chow mein... especially with the chili oil they offer at each table. But the big plate of broccoli in garlic sauce is my favorite if you want something light but filling. They also offer it with Chinese broccoli. My friends and family love the daily specials and combo plates... if you don’t want a big plate of 1 big thing, the combos plates let you get 3 of the main dishes: a fried rice, a chow mein, sweet and sour pork or chicken, etc. For Family dinners they even offer a family combo “dinner for 2/4/6/etc” and have different daily specials. They also offer breakfast, dim sum, wonton soup, and other items. I also recommend their french fries. They SO good but they always come fresh hot and crispy. (Just really good simple fries.) They used to be known as the Austin Heights Diner (1989-2013) if you’ve been a longtime resident of coquitlam, I urge you visit them at their new location.“

“Fair portion of food. I highly recommend the Singapore Noodle bowl, it is very good. The beef soup is good, but they tend to compare it to pho, which is nothing like pho, but it is good for what it is. The customer service is great! I come here every now and then and I've never had a bad experience. I come here just for the food for the most part. The prices are quite decent for the portion and quality ? I love it. I shared a pic of my nearly finished Singapore noodle, smelt and tasted so good I didnt want to wait to take a picture“

“Tried J's Wok for the first time not that long ago and I have to say it is the best food I have taken out in a long time. I recommend the crispy honey garlic beef! Great food, great service. Parking is a little hard.
Parking: Located on a main road, hard to find street parking.“

“Had a reservation for 12:00pm and wasn't given a table till 12:30pm. Typical service of what you'd expect from a traditional dim sum restaurant. It's hard to flag someone down after you've ordered if you want drinks or hot sauce. Or anything really.
Food was delicious. Everything came out hot except the Taro birds nest. That seemed like it wasn't as fresh. Service for food was quick. As soon as you order, food starts coming out quickly.
Lots of free parking. Was harder to find the restaurant if you haven't been to the mall before. I would go again.“

“We brought a party of 8 and with some notice they were happy to oblige. We had some food to share for the table and dishes each. The portions are large but very welcome. The fried pork and chicken were light, airy and crispy with perfect seasoning. All the Noodle dishes were very tasty. Some were a little too saucy, but I enjoy that. Will definitely return again.“

“Hons is an authentic casual Chinese restaurant. They make everything to order and have an extensive menu. When we go, our fav 3 dishes are the BBQ fried rice, tofu with rock salt as well as the black pepper chicken with broccoli. When ordering we usually ask them to withhold the black pepper sauce on the chicken with broccoli as sometimes we find that it’s too much sauce.
We have previously had other dishes such as wontons, sweet and sour pork, eggplant, hot and sour soup, mixed veggies, Shanghai noodles etc and have enjoyed those as well. There really isn’t anything we didn’t like.
Service is typical Chinese restaurant style so don’t be shy to flag the servers down as they can get busy.“

“Typical Hong Kong style cafe. Sometimes difficult to find parking because lot is share with other businesses. Food is OK but prices have gone up a bit since the pandemic. Food and drink arrive quickly. There are some elbow room between tables unlike other restaurants that’s elbow to elbow.“

“It’s very surprising to be able to eat such [Taiwanese food] in a foreign land! If you encounter [Sitai] and want to relieve your homesickness with the taste of hometown, this is a good choice! But the price [is not Taiwan] after all, I came all the way across the ocean~“

“I like that all the food is freshly made! And you can adjust the spicy level as well. Friendly to people who can’t eat spicy! The dandan noodles are surprisingly good. The noodles texture is chewy (doesn’t look like it). Dumplings are pretty yummy too. They gave us a small bowl of ice jelly for free. Good service!“
