“First time here and it won’t be the last! We had our family lunch here and everything was delicious! The flavours were spot on, very nice textures and nicely presented. The service was excellent. Some in my family can’t handle spicy so we ordered most dishes as mild but none of the dishes lacked flavour. Everything was very tasty! We enjoyed the food so much that we forgot to take photos of the food. Very authentic flavours that reminded us of our time in China. My husband and I will definitely return whenever we’re back in town from the east coast.“

“This was such a unique dining experience! I was thrilled! You order a bunch of skewers that range in price and main dishes. We ordered: beef tongue, throat, pork belly, skin, squid, cauliflower, potato, toast, spring rolls, cucumbers and even more squid. Everything was delicious, well spiced and cooked to perfection! Everything came out so fast, it was thrilling to see our table fill up so fast! I love how different cultures have different dining experiences, where you can just sit and chat with friend for hours and pick at your skewers that they keep warm for you at the table.
I will come back here in heartbeat! Its open late and seems to be always busy!“

“Authentic Uighur Xinjiang cuisine. The gentleman wearing the “ doppa” hat is quiet but makes the best braised lamb in all of greater Vancouver. We ordered the lamb with nan and samsa, comes with broth and soup. He suggested the rice polo and it’s their best seller. Amazing food and service.“

“I always have had a good experience in the 15 years I’ve been coming here. Heidi and all the staff are wonderful. I love supporting them and seeing everyone. The large portions for dinner are incredible for the price!!! I always have left overs. I love that they offer many vegetarian options too. They offer many Canadian-Chinese dishes and traditional Chinese dishes with some Canadian/American favourites (like hamburgers). I recommend the mushroom fried rice, onion pancakes (it’s like rosti), or the bean spout chow mein... especially with the chili oil they offer at each table. But the big plate of broccoli in garlic sauce is my favorite if you want something light but filling. They also offer it with Chinese broccoli. My friends and family love the daily specials and combo plates... if you don’t want a big plate of 1 big thing, the combos plates let you get 3 of the main dishes: a fried rice, a chow mein, sweet and sour pork or chicken, etc. For Family dinners they even offer a family combo “dinner for 2/4/6/etc” and have different daily specials. They also offer breakfast, dim sum, wonton soup, and other items. I also recommend their french fries. They SO good but they always come fresh hot and crispy. (Just really good simple fries.) They used to be known as the Austin Heights Diner (1989-2013) if you’ve been a longtime resident of coquitlam, I urge you visit them at their new location.“
“The spicy beef noodle had good portion and was very spicy, but wasn't the kind I would finish the soup for as after a while the taste seemed to turn sweet. It tasted very similar to Bubble World's but with a bit more herbal taste. Beef chow fun was amazing and pretty large portion enough for 2 people.“

“This little family restaurants reminds me of the one my grandparents had. Their sweet and sour pork brings back so many memories. It's the kind of cooking that reminds you why these dishes became classics in the first place. My favs include the wonton soup and the squid with spicy salt. Support local!!!“

“We've been coming here for years. This place has really delicious, fresh food. The servers are friendly and the restaurant is clean.
We live pretty far away but still come all the way here because it's worth the drive :)“
“Fair portion of food. I highly recommend the Singapore Noodle bowl, it is very good. The beef soup is good, but they tend to compare it to pho, which is nothing like pho, but it is good for what it is. The customer service is great! I come here every now and then and I've never had a bad experience. I come here just for the food for the most part. The prices are quite decent for the portion and quality ? I love it. I shared a pic of my nearly finished Singapore noodle, smelt and tasted so good I didnt want to wait to take a picture“

“Our go-to spot in Austin Heights!
We’re always getting our food from J’s Wok—it’s consistently amazing! The sweetest couple runs the restaurant, and you can really feel the care they put into everything. It’s such a hidden gem, a true hole-in-the-wall that never disappoints. Love having this place in the neighborhood!“

“We ordered the Ra Jo Yuk Gourmet Dish (spicy pork with mixed vegetables), which was not what I meant to order—I had my heart set on the spicy hot and sour version, but hey, at least I tried something new. Alongside that, we got a half seafood noodle and half Ja Jang Mian, plus a stir fried rice.
This is definitely what I would call home style Korean Chinese cooking. If you are used to places like Chiu Hong in Surrey, where flavours are bold, sweet, salty and aggressive in the best way, this is much more gentle. The Ja Jang Mian here is less sweet. The pork sauce has less salt, sugar and ginger. The seafood noodle is also much milder in spice.
At first, my taste buds were like “huh?” expecting more punch. But then my rational side kicked in and said, this is like going to your Korean friend’s house and having their grandma make you a meal. It is warm, balanced and does not leave you chugging water for hours afterward. That is worth something.
As for the banchan—it is very modest. Just yellow daikon and raw onions with hoisin sauce. I could not help but laugh a little. It feels honest, like the kitchen is just saying, “Here’s a little crunch to keep you company.”
So even though the flavours are not as intense as I usually go for, I appreciate the clean and home cooked feel. For that, I am giving it 4 stars. It is a comforting, simple spot that feels like it came from a family kitchen.“

“We decided to try somewhere new and picked this place. The food was good over all. We tried many items the only real standout item was the shrimp spring rolls. The flavor and texture was perfect and I would come back just for it. The rice wrap was my 2nd favorite item I had. The rest of the food was good but not wow good.
The staff were good over all we had a few items we ordered missed and some stuff added that we did not order. The extra items they noticed before we did and confirmed was a mistake and corrected it. This was impressive missing 2 items we ordered was not so much (we were not charged).
They were super busy so I can understand missing a few things. I would go back and try again.“

“I have been a North Garden customer for over five years and I have only good things to say about the delicious food and friendly service of this family-run restaurant.
Our favourite takeout order is their wonton soup, beef and broccoli, and chicken chow mein. If you eat in the restaurant, try their lemon chicken, which is delightfully crispy without being greasy.
This is a food-first restaurant- the decor isn’t meant for Instagram or a cute selfie. North Garden is all about the tasty, satisfying dishes that have made me a loyal customer.“

“Noodle dishes are generous. Whether it's fried or in soup, it's got good portions, plus the noodle itself is dense, makes you full for sure
Deep fried dishes though, seems like they don't refresh their oil too often. So maybe a bit careful with their appetizers.“

“Nice, spacious restaurant with quick and delicious service. I have been coming here and ordering food from here for decades now and I recommend it. The Buddha's Feast dish is very good and their noodle dishes are great regardless of the combo. I recommend Beef Chow Fun as well.“

The service is amazing and the food is incredibly authentic. I come here whenever I'm in the area :)
10/10 would recommend if you like spicy food! Their wood ear mushroom dish and Chongqing noodles are an absolute gem.“
