“Wow!!!

What an experience! The quality of the food was amazing, along with the ambiance, however, the only reason I am writing this review is because of the incredible service from our server, Jess!!!

In all my life, Jess has easily provided the #1 best service of any restaurant I’ve ever been to.

“We came for a good bye dinner with our team. Our company closed and Glowbal was selected by numerous recommendations from our other colleagues. It was an amazing atmosphere and definitely super-tasty food. When the time for dessert came, our beautiful waitresses came with our ordered sweet cake with “Happy Unemployment “ writing on the plate. It was a bittersweet moment for all of us but our mood instantly switched to laughter and we almost forgot the cause of our gathering“

“The hostesses at the front are vibrant and charming. They offer a complimentary glass of champagne to sip while you’re waiting. If you don’t imbibe, they will accommodate your soft drink request. We were seated at a table on the patio which is very close to the street. So if you choose to sit on the patio, There will be city sounds which, apart from the occasional siren, quickly dissolves into the artful landscaping. Raven, our server, was friendly and cheerful, in addition to being appropriately attentive. We started with the mini steak French dips. Expertly seasoned and grilled, new york steak strips over a button of gruyere cheese atop a tiny slice of sourdough garlic bread with a side of au jus. These were quite more-ish. I recommend them. My husband enjoyed the Mediterranean salad and I liked my seared ahi tuna salad very much. The tuna is sliced thicker than carpaccio but thinner than sushi and gently seared. The plating was elegant and the salad finely chopped with bits of mango and shaved avocado on the top.. I tasted a bit of mint leaf and the light dressing was truly perfect. The staff pay attention to the guests and, when your server is busy, they make themselves available for your needs. It appears the staff members enjoy each other’s company as well as their jobs. I observed real teamwork throughout. We had the apple pie for dessert. On its own it is delicious with a caramel apple filling and it’s flaky , buttery and crunchy crus. It can easily be shared by three people and would have been enough. But do’gild the lily’ by adding the Canadian maple ice cream. We felt comfortable and satisfied. We were pleased with every bite and the Joey Burrard experience from start to finish. We will definitely go back and try some other offerings. Go and have fun. And talk to the very friendly staff who are so willing to engage.“

“We recently celebrated my husbands 40th birthday with an amazing dinner at Nightingale! There were 12 of us and had a family style dinner, which every plate that came out was amazing. I wish I lived in Vancouver because I would frequent Nightingale weekly. Service was prompt and they were consistently keeping the drinks flowing.“

“We ordered the set menu and everything was amazing! I haven’t been to a place where I was wowed by every dish for a while and the Mackenzie absolutely nailed the menu. The uni pate (the chicken of the sea) was so delicious that we ordered uni pate again at a different place with different seasoning and it’s not even close. Loved the cocktails too!“

“Over many years of meals and events, I recently discovered Hawksworth's Cocktail Hour in its cozy lounge. Every seat in the room is a comfy one, though I favour saddling up to the bar. You will always find a cocktail or wine to your liking. We usually order near everything from the food menu. Sometimes wagyu, currently prosciutto, always oysters. Main reason I keep coming back is the people. Service in this space never disappoints. I have favourites, of course. You know who you are...“

“Amazing food and attentive service. The King Salmon with the gnocchi was incredible subtle and delicious. We also really loved the pumpkin mille-feuille twist. Those were Bib Gourmand worsy. We felt like the Cyprus bawl was a bit lower on the standards so we'll ll probably not reorder that one but for sure we are coming back here. Quiet and elegant atmosphere yet not pretentious.“

“My partner and I had dinner on Valentine's Day. The service was impeccable, and the food was amazing. Kudos to their awesome bartender, Zander, who made a fabulous 'Old Fashioned'. Very friendly and polite. Always had a smile on his face.

And kudos to our amazing server, Sophie. She was very attentive and friendly. Always made sure we were looked after.

“While some may find dining at Cactus Club to be a somewhat generic experience, I find the menu to be full of appealing and tasty choices. This Cactus Club sits right on English Bay Beach and the unimpeded views out to the Bay are spectacular in any weather. You cannot do better in the West End for good value Happy Hour on a Tuesday when bottles of wine go for half-price. We always seem to get outstandingly friendly servers who take very good care of us. Cactus Club English Bay is definitely our go-to local restaurant when we're looking for good food in a casual elegant atmosphere.“

“We had a great time at happy hour. Service was excellent, place wasn't too crowded, good vibes overall. And the happy hour menu was solid. I think a lot of places make happy hour food menus that look cheap but they give tiny portions. This was cheap for a good portion with lots of crispy fries. “I have had varying experiences at this location. Some quite jarring and negative and some quite positive. I have to say that Shaughnessy has always made me feel so comfortable and invited. Her warm energy has made me come back after a quite opposing experience with a different bartender. Sometimes Cactus can be cold and soulless. But its nice to see real beautiful and kind humans.“

“We went to this location after the Canucks game on a Saturday night. My reservation was for the dining room, but we were put into the lounge. It was quite noisy because the music volume was too loud. We were having a hard time hearing our server when they were taking our order, and also having difficulty communicating amongst ourselves. We let the manager know, and they were kind enough to turn the volume down, but also moved us to the dining room. I really appreciated that they took the time and made the effort to ensure that we would have a pleasant experience. I ordered the Dine Out Vancouver menu and it was great, our server offered to let me have two appetizers and an entrée instead of having dessert. Thank you again for a great experience and for accommodating our move.“

“Great Room, fantastic Staff. So easy to hold a function.“

“Overall I would stay here again as it’s super convenient for the port when cruising. Great sized room (deluxe on 15th floor) had a great view, clean and comfortable beds. However. When we stayed last week, there was one lift working. It was often carnage with long queues and it could take 20 mins to get to the room or down to reception. We also had issues with our keycards keep clearing (as did some others we met during our many waits for a lift) so after those 20 mins, we would get upstairs to find we couldn’t get in to our room and would then have to do it all again, going down to reception. There was also often long lines here aswell so it got pretty frustrating. Staff in the restaurant at breakfast were lovely (especially Jessica) and so were those guys at the bellhop station, super nice and really helpful. Most disappointing to find this comment that was added to a sponsored post before being added here, was removed though.“

“Went here for Dine Out Can. The tuna starter and trout main (as well as the pudding dessert I was too impatient to photograph) were all phenomenal. Highly recommend adding a baked oyster to start. The cocktail list was amazing. I can’t wait to go back to try other dishes. Next time I will request a seat in the back room rather than on the loft for more ambiance. Service staff were top notch. “Excellent experience of Suhlwahsoo high tea. Was there celebrating a dual birthday for my friend and myself. Everyone was so attentive and kind and caring. The quality of food and the theme was amazing. One of the top high tea experiences we have had in Vancouver in the last 20 years of tea.“

“Just when you think they can't raise their game any higher Hy's manages to find a way. We attended the Calgary locations 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sept 26th and it was spectacular. The event was flawlessly organized and orchestrated by the Hy's team, the food was next level even by Hy's standards and the service exceeded anything we have experienced anywhere in North America even in the finest hotels. Bryant Olender added a classic background with piano and vocal stylings that perfectly suited the atmosphere. It was certainly the best evening we have at Hy's over the last decade, and I don't think I'm overstating it to say it was a "Once in a Lifetime" experience. A huge thankyou to Barb and the entire Hy's team!“
