“this has been the best Korean food I've tried on the island since moving here over 2 years ago. The tteokbokki was quite flavorful and was deliciously spicy.
Really good service and kind servers who greeted you, and checked in often. Never felt rushed or felt like I was unwelcome there. Waters were quickly refilled and offered.
Nice ambiance, a cozy spot with warm, authentic Korean food. Will be returning soon.“

“Thought I’d try Chicken 649 as I heard they really good Korean chicken. I ordered the 5 piece daily special, original flavour. A good deal for awesome chicken, crunchy yummy seasoned batter on the outside and tender juicy chicken on the inside. The side potatoes wedges were big, battered & very tasty. The coleslaw was okay. It was a good sized portion and was more than enough for 2-3 people. Oh and they throw in a pop as well. I want to go back and try the other flavours. I highly recommend.“

“My hubby and I went for lunch today, it was our first time there, it won’t be the last. The server was lovely, the place is nicely set out, bathrooms clean. Now to the food, my hubby had the Pork Bulgogi I had the Cheese chicken Bulgogi both dishes were delicious huge portions, YUMALISIOUS with the free popcorn and Daikon.“

“15$ for a beyond greasy burger served on a dry dry bun. Three bites in and I tapped out. Grease was literally running down my wrists. Hubby had the sweet and spicy, dry and stringy…… Will stick to 649 or Thunderbird“

“Smile Chicken is hands down our absolute favorite restaurant! If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out on the best melt-in-your-mouth chicken you will ever eat.
Every single time we visit, the food is consistently incredible. The Korean fried chicken has the most perfect, light, crispy batter on the outside, while the inside stays unbelievably juicy and tender. Beyond the phenomenal chicken, the Korean corn dogs (especially the mozzarella ones!) are insanely delicious, and the staff are always so incredibly fast, kind, and welcoming.
We keep coming back and it never disappoints. If you are looking for top-tier comfort food and friendly service in downtown Victoria, this is the ultimate spot!“
