I especially loved the variety of ingredients—particularly the vegetables, many of which were new to me and incredibly fresh. The flavors, atmosphere, and service were all excellent, and the price was very reasonable for the quality offered. Highly recommend!“

“One65 was an amazing discovery on our trip to San Francisco. Having spent the first half of our life in Montréal, Québec, Canada where it was hard to find a bad restaurant, we were absolutely amazed by this Bistro which looks more like a high end dining experience. The menu online & the photos attracted us to this location but we were amazed by the well timed service, the crisp white tablecloths, the table setting and the pleasant and calm atmosphere. My choices of charcuterie platter was perfectly sized; the chicken & the pork rillettes where a wonderful surprise. My husband had an onion tart with the crust as perfect as they get & which I envied. He loved his halibut, moist and tender and I raved over my grilled half lobster, so tender that I found myself munching on the shell parts as well. My bread pudding was not of overwhelming size & perfectly flavored. Don chose the Affogato (scoop of vanilla gelato « drowned » with a shot of hot espresso). We wanted to go back today but they are closed on Sundays.?“

“We had another wonderful dinner at Julia's Restaurant last night. We had Adrian as our waiter again, which was a really nice coincidence. Like our last visit, Adrian was a friendly, nice, excellent waiter. There were three of us. We all got different entrees and everyone loved their dinner. My wife took a picture of her halibut dinner. She isn't usually a couscous fan, but she raved about it and was glad she ordered the halibut. I had the ribeye steak, medium rare, grilled to perfection. It was presented superbly on a wooden plank and everything was delicious. Our good friend had the braised short rib....another beautifully presented dish that was thoroughly enjoyed. We were very happy to go back to Julia's and look forward to going again soon. Highly recommend! (Earlier review) This review is a bit tardy. My wife and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Julia's Restaurant in the Berkeley City Club in August. From the beautiful ambience to the excellent service to the scrumptious food, we give Julia's high praise. We went early and enjoyed walking around the historic building "ooh'ing and ahh'ing" over the stunning architecture and ornate detailing everywhere. Morgan's Bar & Lounge has the most gorgeous stained glass Tiffany lamps (see photo) that fit the decor well. Our waiter, Adrian, was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and fun. The food was beyond amazing. We both had filet mignon (perfectly cooked medium rare) with bearnaise sauce; it was tender and succulent (see photo). The accompaniments, sweet potatoes and spinach, were all delicious. We had never been to Julia's before and now look forward to going there again for another great, special meal“

“We celebrated a friend's Birthday here recently and were happy about everything. We were able to actually have a conversation because it wasn't noisy inside. The food is delicious and the staff took time to answer questions about the menu and made some excellent recommendations. It's also easy to take public transportation since the church street station is close by.“

“Was it worth a few months for this reservation? I hate to admit it, but yes. Even after you’re seated, get ready to wait an hour for your soufflés to come out. But when they do, you’ll be in heaven. The soufflés were warm, light, fluffy and rich. We tried the salmon & asparagus, mushroom, and chocolate soufflés. All of them were perfectly done and delicious.“

“We visited Alameda in April to attend a celebration of life for a family member that we lost suddenly. Our family was in town from all over the country, and we found Cafe Jolie Petit near our hotel. They took such great care of us, fed us meals on three or four consecutive days, and we could not have asked for better service or food during an emotional time. Pastries (Koiugn Amann!), Monte Cristo, and the coffee bar were our favorites, but everything we had was delicious. We hope to be back for happier circumstances at some point, and definitely will return!“

“Quince is utter perfection. A beautiful restaurant. As a solo diner, I sat at the 4 seat bar. Service was extraordinary, every dish and glass of wine was explained. And the food is tremendous - from the small pre-meal tastings to the small post-meal dessert tastings, everything is delicious and perfectly prepared. The tasting menu included caviar, fish, pasta, lamb and figs. The wine pairings were just right. A wonderful lunch ever.“

“I’ve ordered from Chouquet’s before on Uber Eats and it was so good that I had to come in and try it in person, and it was amazing! The staff were so friendly and attentive. Roy and Stefan were especially great and made us feel so welcome.
My family and I came in to celebrate my brother’s birthday, and Roy surprised him with a delicious birthday crème brûlée. The food itself was incredible. Our table was split between the Short Rib (tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked) and the Steak & Fries, which came with a rich black peppercorn sauce that tied the whole dish together beautifully.
My brother and I both have gluten allergies, and Roy took the time to go through the menu and explain everything thoroughly. They had plenty of gluten-free options, which made dining here so easy and enjoyable.
I highly recommend Chouquet’s for anyone looking for great food, warm service, and an overall wonderful dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!“

Cheese in the French onion soup was granular, not melt; my friend ordered scrambled eggs instead of sunny side up for her crepe but we couldn't find any egg. Waiter said it was scrambled into the crepe. ??? Crème fraiche on the crepe was heavy like the dressing in the Caesar - again, order it on the side. “I don’t often review anything but this place kind of struck a chord. It’s everything I want in a coffee shop and I’d like, maybe a little desperately, for establishments like this to stick around. The classic painted panels of the high walls to the light Italian opera on the stereo, there so much character in every corner of La Cuisine that you can’t help but want to just sit on the orange vinyl benches, watch the steam rise from your cup and ponder anything and everything. I don’t think my opinion matters when it comes to the technicalities of breakfast but everything was hot and fresh. The proprietor was quick and asked if I was satisfied. I was, very much. I guess I just wanted to say thank you La Cuisine for being open on a gray morning in November and giving me that very enjoyable feeling of discovery and one of the more heartwarming cups of coffee I’ve had in a while.
