“Wonderfull place!
Amara Kitchen in Altadena is a gem that truly stands out! The moment you walk in, you're welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels both cozy and modern. The menu is filled with delicious, wholesome options that cater to a variety of dietary preferences, making it easy for anyone to find something they’ll love. The ingredients are fresh, and you can taste the quality in every bite. The avocado toast and grain bowls are perfectly balanced, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve, which only enhances the experience. Amara Kitchen is definitely a go-to spot for a healthy and satisfying meal in Altadena!"“

“Best pub in the Altadena area. It is a family run business, and really, a more traditional "public house." Not too many places like this around! Guiness and other European ales on tap. Nice selection of wines too. Say hi to Judah, Gail & family and help support Altadena!“

“I think Prime Pizza is the best New York style pizza you can get in the LA area. The pizza is really crispy, and they offer both round and square pies. You can order by the slice or get a whole pizza. My go to slices are the spicy pepperoni, classic cheese, and pepperoni. The hoagie is also very good and worth trying.
The parking lot itself is small, but street parking is easy and usually not a far walk. Beyond the food, this location feels very community driven. You can really see it with Pasadena and Altadena merch being sold and the overall neighborhood vibe from the people here.
Seating is outdoor only in a patio setup, and they have a big TV outside where they show sports, which adds to the experience. Definitely a spot I keep coming back to.“
“This will make you so happy I recommend you try this food right now🍾🍾“

“I started with their bestseller breakfast burrito, and it delivers exactly what you want in a classic breakfast build — hearty, flavorful, and properly balanced. The potatoes are cooked right, the textures work, and nothing feels like filler. It’s satisfying without being overly heavy. But the real surprise for me was The Green Burrito. Egg, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, feta, salsa verde — and I added chorizo. The combination is layered, bright, and bold. The sun-dried tomatoes give it depth, the salsa verde cuts through beautifully, and the chorizo adds that extra savory punch. In my opinion, it actually outshined the bestseller. If you’re someone who appreciates a protein-forward, well-crafted breakfast burrito with intention behind the flavors, this is a spot worth pulling up to. Community-approved for a reason. “I'm here just about every other weekend to get takeout for the family. The Indian flavors really come through in an exciting way. The rotisserie chicken is one of the best I've found in LA, and it's not even the best chicken on the menu. Anything with beans are a must-have.“

“DO NOT GO HERE! You'll never be able to enjoy a sandwich from another establishment again. This place will ruin every other diner experience you've ever had. You will be saddened to realize that no other place can compete, and you don't have the budget or time to go to Bub and Grandma's every time you want to eat out. In fact, you may be forced to stay in and cook until you save up enough money and vacation time to make another trip out to Bub and Grandma's. Which will lead you to build your entire schedule and financial outlook around a single, exquisite restaurant experience.“

“Nice vibes, convenient location with easy parking, beautiful decor. Service was lacking, but understand there is a labor shortage right now, perhaps that's to blame here. Bodega sando was perfection! Pastries were alright...most looked better than they tasted. I'd say they were good but not great.“

“The owners were the sweetest and answered questions quickly. I loved the space so much I ended up talking to Amber since the place is so obviously carefully curated. If you have the time I would definitely recommend stopping by! I chose the ruby apple and chamoy gummy bears and it was perfectly sour for me!! They do everything they can in house including creating their own chamoy recipe and it is absolutely delicious!! The ruby apple is the only dairy free option for now but with continued support from the community I can see them expanding as much as they aspire to:)“

“All the food was outstanding. The raw fish and seafood was unbelievably fresh and aptly paired with elevated fresh flavors. The tostadas reminded me of Contramar in Cdmx, but even better (dare i say).
The atmosphere is beautiful, has a massive garden space, scattered lighting, copious succulents. It feels like an escape right in LA. The service is warm, personable, efficient.
Definitely worth the trip and such a great find.“

“I’ve been wanting to try Marko’s for a while. My brother and I had lunch there today. We were not disappointed. I ordered Nopales & Eggs, my brother ordered French Toast & Eggs with sausage and bacon. The food was so fresh and delicious. I can’t wait to try the other items on the menu. The service was very friendly and attentive. Marko came and introduced himself. He gave us a brief talk on how they pride themselves on serving fresh and authentic food. Recipes from the abuelita. Definitely coming back.“

“Was super happy with our dinner at Hippo. Every dish was delicious. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower starters had excellent flavors. All the pastas we tried had incredible depth of flavor without being overly heavy or greasy. The hippo rolls and table focaccia were excellent and the chicken thighs were to die for. Only thing that was lackluster was the passion fruit gelato. Fun vibe, lots of seating, and great service!“

“Wonderful experience. The chef was friendly and entertaining and prepared the most beautiful omakase for us. I keep ingredients- kosher and the chef was easily able to create a menu of only fish with fins and scales for me on advance request. He was careful about cross contamination too.“

“Lost my keys somewhere along Sunset and checked in with Ceci’s to see if anyone turned them in. They didn’t but ownership was so kind and empathetic that they handed over a fresh and delicious piece of tomato focaccia for my troubles. That’s what’s called unreasonable hospitality. Thank you guys, that was incredibly sweet of you and it brightened my day.“

“The best spicy Chinese Food in OC/LA area hands down! They have been Michelin recommended for a reason. Their food has lots of depth of umami flavors with a good amount of spice with a refined touch. Their none spicy broths are especially good too. My faves are their dry pots, toothpick lambs, Qiao Jiao Beef. We also like their spicy ribs and boiled fish in chilli sauce, and Mao cai. Service is great too!“

“Stopped in on a Tuesday night to grab dinner with some friends and now I can see why this place is always busy!
We ordered pad see ew with chicken, chicken satay, papaya salad and Tom yum with shrimp. Everything was delicious and family style was the perfect way to go. Everything was flavorful from the tom yum broth to the satay peanut sauce.
Service was impeccable! We were able to get in without a reservation and there was virtually no wait time for a party of four. The server made sure we got our beer orders in on time before the happy hour ended and was very attentive to our needs, ensuring everything was to our satisfaction.
We will definitely be back for our monthly dinners !“

“I don't even know where to start because everything was amazing. Alcohol not necessary for a good time here! The food. The drinks. The vibes. The owners. The things they support. Their selflessness. Their creativity. The hope and life force that they provide for those who need it. They deserve your support. As a celiac, and someone who cannot handle alcohol very well.. this is it. This is what I'm talking about when I say I want atmosphere. This is what I want to give my money to. I got the black garlic pasta and it was incredible. My partner got chicken adobo and it was also amazing. We played chess and chat the owners up for a long while. They do mahjong nights on Thursdays apparently, so if you need socializing in a safe place with good food made by people who care deeply about others - go here.“

“Favorite Sichuan restaurant in California! Definitely the most authentic Sichuan food I’ve ever had in the states (yes I’m from Sichuan so take my word for it lol)
We live in the Bay Area, but whenever we’re visiting LA, we go to this place because of the great taste.
We ordered rabbit, beef and beef. The portions were HUGE. Every dish was flavorful, and it’s amazing that they picked seasonal vegetables to complement the flavor of the meat in each dish. And the spiciness is really close to what I had back at home in Sichuan. The chengdu fried rice(this should be the name if I remember it correctly) is also very good, not oily at all.
The restaurant owner is also very nice and she told us the rabbit meat is fresh from the butcher shop everyday, which sets this restaurant apart from others. (Well, this is the only restaurants in the states that I have ever been to that serves rabbit on the menu, so I really appreciate that)
100% recommend this place.“

“What a gem...hands down the best elotes l've ever had!! The corn man is super nice and super fast at pumping out Elote via cob or bowl. There was probably 20+ people ahead of me with multiple orders but it only took 25 minutes to get through since he's so efficient. It can be so amazingly rich and heavy for some folks but this is what you're coming for! A guilty pleasure ruminating in cheese, mayo and liquid butter and corn. I prefer the bowl over the cob since it's much easier to eat. I also recommend getting two at once so u don't have to wait in line again and it's so cheap. 100% recommend!“

“If you’re in East LA and craving solid mariscos, Playita Mariscos is hands-down a go-to spot. I’ve been coming here for years, and it never disappoints.
Their shrimp tacos are a must. You can get them hard or soft, and either way they’re packed with flavor. I love that every taco plate comes with rice and beans and chips — it makes it a full, satisfying meal. And let’s talk about the ceviche: it’s always fresh and super good. They offer different types, so there’s something for everyone, and you can really taste the quality in every bite.
The people who work here are friendly and generous with the salsa and extras, which always makes the experience even better. The restaurant itself is super clean, and even though it’s usually packed on the weekends, the vibe is welcoming and worth the wait.
Playita Mariscos has been a staple for me for years, and it’s still one of my favorite stops for shrimp tacos and fresh ceviche in East LA.“

“Came here on a Saturday night around 6pm and waited about 90 minutes for a table.
The kicker? You have to pay $10 to get in the lot before you even get the pleasure of waiting.
Food was good but not worth a 90 minute wait“

“We stopped here before heading to a party where we didn't know if there would be food. I wasn't starving but when I tell you I could have eaten at least 6 more of the elote tamales, I could have. Holy moly, so so so good. My husband and best friend each had a mini taco sampler plate and said all of their tacos were incredible, also! I will seriously be craving those tamales for a long time!“
