“Amazing food and vibes. The plumb crumb cookie is my new favorite cookie in the bay! It’s like a tiny fruit tart—I think the base is a short bread cookie, and it has a chewy crumble + fresh fruit on top. The other shortbready cookie with jam was also very good.
The two other things I tried were the nectarine chiffon cake and the plum tart. The cake was light and not too sweet, and had just the right amount of cream. The plum tart was also very tasty.
Besides the food, the aesthetics of the place are beautiful and unique. Just look at the picture of the menu!
Overall one of my favorite bakeries in the bay, highly recommend!“

“Oh my heart - how did I not know about this bakery before 🌟 it’s probably a good thing that I no longer live a couple of blocks from it otherwise I’d have to size up my entire wardrobe. Tried the cheesecake, salted egg yolk cookie, almond meringue and the amazing egg tarts … everything was delicious with a dash of the kind of pixie dust that comes from love, talent and artisanal care 💖“

“I've been here a few times and have not been disappointed. Every flavor I've had has been amazing.
My favorite is the key lime cupcake because it has lime curd inside, a graham cracker crust bottom, and lime zest on top. PERFECTION!
A similarly tasty cupcake is the lemon cream pie.
The cookies and cream is also really good.
I also enjoyed the double chocolate flavor.
And the best thing is that they have locations in ATL, so I can have them when I go home!“

“I spent about $45…for a whole bunch of yummy stuff! It’s amazing to be able to go straight to the bakery, and also kind of dangerous. You can see some of the menu on the window outside as you wait in line (there will almost always be a line), and you can peek in and see the day’s selection of breads and pastries. Only two parties at a time fit inside to order. There’s a small parking lot in front and more parking behind. I highly recommend the seasonal focaccia pizzas! An pain epi, just yum.“

“I have never been to your bakery ,but would like to someday .I did try your bread at Casa Orinda and asked the waitress where they ordered their bread from. I thought it was fantastic the best sourdough bread I've had in a long long time thank you so much“

“Order - Two ube chocolate donuts.
Texture - Typical, slightly chewy, sponge almost. It was good.
Taste - Chocolate flavor wasn’t that deep and the ube was also on the light side. Mostly sugary as most donuts are.
Price - $1-2 ish dollars per donut.
Not what I’m looking for personally but it’s not a bad choice if you’re looking for the classic donut.“

“This is a beautiful store outside and inside. After stalking this restaurant on Instagram and after I missed pop-up events for Oktoberfest, I finally bought some pretzels. Yummy! It was well worth the wait. I scored some of the weekly specials, the pesto and mozzarella pretzel. I also bought the jalapeño and cheddar. I will never buy one of those pretzels off the street carts ever again. I used to buy Auntie Annie’s soft pretzels at the mall, but never again. I am officially a pretzel snob now. I am making plans to go back to Squabisch for the pretzel sandwiches. The fresh quality ingredients are evident in every bite.“

“Please note…this is not a full bakery. It is a baker’s shop where they are kind enough to let us step into their world and get some of the freshest and most amazing assortment of what the best local ingredients can make. Everything is sinfully delicious, both the savory and the sweet, and they have good flourless/gluten free options as well. My favorite is always the chocolate almond croissant, though I had a leek and gruyere croissant this time that had me wanting more! The double chocolate cookie is DELICIOUS!!“

“Amazing service from a place that actually cares about its workers and the food is delicious …got my coworkers hooked on their pastries and empanadas hehe …good veggie options … a very good assortment of teas… this place is a little hidden being back off the street, but it’s well worth the hunt and once you’ve found it you’ll be glad you did there’s a little private sitting area in front of the shop that’s surprisingly quiet for the area a perfect stop for lunch“

“Great selection of sweet and of savory pastries. I love the cheddar scones. And two quiches daily, one vegetarian and one not. The chocolate cream pie is superb. Good coffee. Really nice folks.“
“I’ve been buying Eduardo Morell’s bread at the Berkeley farmers market for roughly a decade and still can’t make it back to my car without ripping hunks off to devour on the spot. If you want to know what truly traditional San Francisco sourdough tasted like when individual artisans developed the craft before of the modern food industrial complex co-opted it, make the pilgrimage to Morell’s bakery or to the farmers market or just pick up a loaf at Monterey Market. My favorite is the loaf that uses local, whole-grain wheat.“

“My mother just turned 92. She loves Peanut Butter Cookies, and has VERY discerning taste (all 92-year olds do!) The delightful folks from Nuttin Butter Cookies, responded to my order placed on a weekend, baked the cookies, and delivered them fresh from the oven! They are so big, mom is making each one last 3 days!Simply amazing! More cookie orders coming soon!“

“You can find any cheese you want here. While cheese gave the place it's name, most people come here for the awesome baked goods or the phenomenal pizza. You can get the pizza half-baked and finish it off in your home's pizza oven. If you are in Berkeley, it's a must-go kind of place.“

“I bought a bread machine back in the day and tried to make a bread that was as nutritional. Epic fail! No preservatives, organic whole wheat is the real deal. I have to keep it in the freezer to prevent mold, but the flavor toasted is still outstanding. What a treasure hidden in the East Bay of San Francisco.“

“The coffee and muffin were delicious, but the line to order was waaaaay too slow. Not sure if it's an issue with the technology or the people. Both the person who took the order and the woman delivering the coffee were very polite. It's a sweet place to have a bite and coffee, with a nice view.“

“Long time customer. Ordered bacon and cheese quiche to eat in and a chicken turnover to take home. Both were excellent. Also my standard a blueberry Danish and their dark roast coffee. Just wish they would return some of the savory baked goods from the past like mustard laced cheese sticks and cheese scones.“

“I just love this local Berkeley gem. Friendly, warm vibe where everyone is welcome. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into the place. The coffee is THE BEST, the pastries are amazing. From the coffee made with care and the super nice baristas to the comfy/welcoming/inclusive atmosphere, Bench Café has it all. My go to breakfast items are the Spinach Feta Empanadas and the Date Latte. P.S. the music adds a nice touch to the place.“

“The place is very affordable, which carries great merit, considering that Sheng Kee operates in the Bay Area. The pastries taste great for the price. The service is relatively friendly and quick at checking out your order. The only possible concern would be the lack of preservatives in the pastries, making these pastries to deteriorate in quality fast. It was not visibly dirty either. Overall, a great place to get a quick bite.“

“The Hidden Cafe is a true gem in Berkeley! The atmosphere is incredibly inviting, with a cozy library-like interior and a lovely outdoor seating area overlooking the park. The pastries are delicious, especially the sweet potato brownie and the vegan options. The coffee is excellent, and the Kokuto Latte is a must-try. I especially appreciate the friendly staff and the welcoming ambiance. To elevate the experience even further, I recommend The Hidden Cafe consider using Tuneast to create a unique music space. With Tuneast, you can easily curate playlists and allow customers to vote for their favorite songs, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to this already wonderful cafe.“

“We have felt lucky to live within walking distance of Casa Latina. Tonight I put in a phone order, as I have many times and the order was taken carelessly and messed up (Baja fish taco, not fish taco), so when I got home, I had to drive back up and have the meal remade, and then it was just not good. Tortillas were weirdly dry and the fish was overcooked (like, fried to the color of coffee grounds). A great neighborhood place on Fridays, will probably skip it on Mondays.“

“This is a To-Go lunch spot adjacent to the Oceanview Diner. It's basically an entire separate restaurant with a different kitchen. I work on Fourth Street, and this my go-to place for lunch. I used to do Market Hall, but the food here is better and the prices are better, pretty reasonable for the bay. You can get a satisfying meal for ~$10 and a good snack for $5. They do a few things really well. All the prepared dishes from the glass case I've tried have been great. Some staples include lentils & feta, chicken salad, potato salad, and there's always a daily special that's been tasty every time I've tried it. You can also combo the mixed greens salad (+ tomatoes, pickled red onion, and dressing) with one of the prepared dishes, which makes for a light and fresh lunch. The middle eastern combo (hummus, greens, pita, dolmas, veggies) is a lot of food and a good deal; the empanadas are great for a snack, and you get some fresh homemade chimichurri with them. The "burrito" is kind of funny (you get two little burritos) but it's cheap and tasty. Tuna toast is a good snack as well. Last but not least, the baked goods are bomb. As I understand it, they have a few different bakers who come in and contribute to the pastry case. All the cookies and cakes I've had have been delicious. The lemon pistachio shortbread, brown sugar shortbread, lemon cake all transport me to a childhood I didn't know I had. All in all, the output of this place is truly impressive. There are so many different little elements to the lunch offerings, and everything appears to be homemade, even the pickles! I don't know how they manage it and run a full-on diner next door, but I'm grateful for it. It's got a locals-only vibe and can be pretty hectic at the lunch rush, but that shouldn't deter you. Also, you don't necessarily have to take it "to-go"; there's two high tops inside and some seating out front.“

“Was taken aback by the empty store front with signs but no displays. Idk if they’re just robbery cautious or what but visited because of locational convenience.Ordered a dozen - was ready in under 10 min Altho no status update was given and there was no staff. 5 stars for the donuts - they’re better than Mochill or any of the other competitors/places I’ve been to within the state. The glazes were really tasty and not too sweet (I got 8 diff flavors, favorite being Guava and Fruity pebbles). Donuts were super moist and springy without being greasy. It was a huge hit for the party I bought them for with both people who are mochi-nuts and ppl who’d never had them before. Definitely going back.“

“This place makes the absolute BEST Fougasse! It is olive-y the duck fat it’s made with makes it, crisp, light, and perfectly moist. The crusty outside is lightly salted to perfection. Their pastries are also exquisite, I haven’t had anything I didn’t like, but I ALWAYS come for the Fougasse! Best to get there early when they are nice and fresh and warm and before they sell out!“
