This review is from a casual wine drinker.I just had their tasting that had about 6-7 wines and it was a solid set of offerings. The interior was very welcoming and the outside patio is a good spot to take a date. “It's been a number of years since we were here last but very little has changed and the food and staff are as wonderful as ever. The Hitching Post 2 BBQ has been in Buellton, CA for over 35 years cooking over the same oak fired grill. While locally renowned, its location for scenes and ties to the movie Sideways added to its already following. A varied menu with lots of choices and most everything is cooked on their very large and open, oak fired grill. Aaron was a great server and had the numerous specials memorized to perfection. A relish-tray, garlic bread, soup or salad and your choice of starch are included. Never have had a poor meal or poor service. They are busy and reservations are a must even if you are dining early (closed Tuesdays). The have a great winery with their own label and have added a tasting room next door that also does a simple lunch menu Monday-Sunday. I will say it is looking a little worn and in need of a little TLC here and there but the food and service remain as good as ever.“

“I have been coming to Hitching Post 2 for 20 years and I've never experienced such slow and lackluster service, and on my birthday! We sat down at 6:40 and didn't leave till 9 PM and not because we were drinking copious bottles of wine, ha, wish!  the enthusiasm level from the staff was very low, and it took nearly an hour to get our main course after ordering. We were seated in the annex room next to the bathrooms, which is fine, but not very fun atmosphere but at least it's quiet. The birthday delivery of dessert took forever and wasn't served with much fanfare. Disappointing night from an otherwise solid and great restaurant.“

“This place was one of our favorite spots for cocktails and food in Buellton! We stayed next door at the Flying Flags RV park, and the Sideways Lounge is a short walk to get there, part of the Sideways Inn.

The drinks were on point (they made me a proper Negroni that was perfect)! The Belgian fries and dogs were super tasty and indulgent. The outdoor space was really comfortable, and the fire kept us cozy on the chilly night we were there. The whole lounge is very modern, clean, and well-maintained with plenty of seating space indoors and outside.

Mike, the bartender/server, was super friendly and helpful, and he provided us some great tips for exploring wineries around Los Olivos. I will definitely return here next time I'm staying in Buellton!“

“My absolute favorite from there is a Mexican chocolate iced coffee it’s the yummiest treat EVER! They make the best and always smile! The owner I believe, Jen, helped me through two of the hardest days of my life back in 2019&2020. She’s an angel. 2020 I came through to get my fav coffee& a pup cup and big milkbone for my 15 yr old pup that day 04/28/20 was the day I had to help her get her angel wings, I will forever be grateful to Jen and her staff. I miss the Coffee Cabin I live in mid East now and when I visit I’ll be going there first! Tysm Coffee Cabin & sorry for the long review!“

“Great little Mexican restaurant not far off the freeway off-ramp. Good menu both of food and drink options. English & Spanish spoken. Cash & credit cards accepted.Their Tequila Nachos are good - very generous with the cheese. The steak option was very flavorful and tender and diced into very easy bite-sized pieces. Large dollop of guacamole on top and drizzled with sour cream. Definitely great to share or for a very hungry person! They have a nice little salsa bar with pickled jalapenos and onions, as well as diced red onions, cilantro, pico de gallo and several salsa options ranging from extremely mild to a habenero sauce with a good kick to it.Beers, margaritas and sodas available (both Mexican bottled Coca-Cola or basic American soda fountail Coke). Casual environment.

Vegetarian options: You can order things without meat (like the nachos) but clearly meat (chicken & beef) is at the forefront here.

“Being from Wisconsin where Friday Fish Fry is a way of life, I was hesitant to order the whitefish...it was as good as any authentic Wisconsin Fish Fry....it was amazing. The beer was outstanding and I can't say enough good things about our server Patricia M...she made an already great night into an over the top enjoyable experience
