“Today was my second (2), visit to Locanda Sorento, Campbell for lunch. Both experiences were terrific! We were welcomed at the door seated in areas that were very comfortable, the first visit we sat in the back room and today by the front door. Service was extraordinary on both visits. Sadly I cannot recall the young woman’s name from Italy that served us on the first visit but Marco served us today. Both were excellent. I requested a bit of modification on the salmon I ordered and was accommodated without hesitation. This is on the road to being my fav Italian restaurant. The environment is bright and cheerful, the staff all seem to work together happily, food and service excellent! Thank you Locanda Sorento folks for two wonderful luncheon experiences. Looking forward to many more!“

“Vpho is a fantastic place to enjoy delicious pho and more! They recently remodeled, and it looks really nice inside—modern and inviting. One thing that sets Vpho apart is that they don't cram their tables together like some other Asian restaurants, so you have plenty of space to relax and enjoy your meal. Plus, there's lots of parking available, which makes getting there easy. The restaurant itself is clean and well-kept, which adds to the pleasant dining experience. I tried the Chicken Wing with mild spicy sauce, and it was surprisingly good—tender and flavorful. The Beef Bone Pho was outstanding; the meat practically fell off the bone, and the soup was warm and yummy—perfect for a chilly day. Although I didn't try it this time, they have a cocktail menu, which sounds intriguing for my next visit. The restroom is nicely remodeled, but it could be cleaner, which is something they might want to improve. Overall, Vpho gets five stars from me for its delicious food, comfortable atmosphere, and great service. It's definitely a place I'll be returning to!“

Hush puppies, meatballs and ribeye were solid. Dessert blew my fat head off. It was some sort of bread pudding with ice cream ! This is a nice treat and moderately priced for a nice night out in LG.“

“MONDAY FOOD REVIEW...PUESTO...6/17/24! After leaving California's Great America, we stopped for lunch at Puesto, a Mexican/American restaurant, located at 2752 Augustine Dr., in Santa Clara. This restaurant features Mexican dishes with an American flare infusion! I had their their Shrimp a la Plancha, which is Mexican shrimp, garlic butter, red onions, jalapeños, guajillo chile, avocado, and Tamarindo-chile sauce, and it comes with herb lime rice, black beans, and blue corn tortillas. This was absolutely fabulous!!! It wasn't your typical Mexican dish...the different ingredients they used to create this dish all blended together VERY well!!! If you are looking for a little something different to satisfy your Mexican food craving, and want some added flair, then this is THE restaurant to go to!!! I HIGHLY recommend it!!!! “Always great returning to Broma. Looks like their recent menu revamped to include more Mains than Appetizers. I miss having more tapas options, but food was good. Personally loved the "pork" appetizer, and would love the recipe for it!! Dessert couldve been better- both the Ube mochi cake and Calamansi cake felt a little dense. A little surprised by the automatically applied service fee (we were a group of 3). All in all though, good food and vibes, though a littlw pricey“

“Oh my gosh!!!! My family and I are on vacation driving through California. We stayed in San Jose for a couple nights. We parked in downtown to check things out. I Googled places for dinner and The Club on Post came up with good reviews. The website offered reservations and I booked one. We walked in and were greeted by Alena. She was a doll!!! She was also our server, she was super friendly and helpful. I knew this was my place, the music they had playing in the background was amazing, loud enough to hear it but quiet enough you can still have a conversation. I don't know if the music playing is always 2000s.... But it was that night, and they had Friends playing on the screen. The vibe was just so amazing.... But, now I'm showing my age. Ohh the food, so good. I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the burger and we swapped halves.... Oh man the burger and sandwich were both delicious. We ordered dessert too. The molten lava cake was bomb!!! The creme brulee was amazing too. It was such a happy accident we stumbled across The Club. Alena definetly made our night.“

“Great atmosphere for even a quick drink, or two…“

“I want to preface this by saying two things. First, I had never been here before. Which is sorta’ shocking for me because, two, I like Bay Area dive- and dive-adjacent bars.

Having lived in and/or visited this area for all of my 50-plus years, that is shocking. And I like this sort of place in a non-ironic, non-wink-wink, sorta’ way. I loved the Cardiff in Campbell before it became an ultra-lounge. I spent many a day and/or evening at Blinky’s before it closed. In more recent years, I was saddened when Patty’s Inn and then the The Red Stag closed. I am happy that Woodham’s still offers up first and last calls. And I continue to be amazed that Vahl’s is still slinging drinks in the hinterlands.

And I frequent these places because, in almost all cases, they provide a service that is rapidly being destroyed in the Bay Area. Great service. Strong drinks. Good prices (relatively speaking). Interesting customers. Normandy House checks all of these boxes.

This place exists where Bascom disappears. It is kitty-corner to what has to be one of the world’s oldest still existing uniform stores. It is located in a non-descript and frankly worn-down corner strip mall, the sort of place that is eagerly eyed by developers looking to raze the place in favor of bland and cheaply made condos that cost way too much.

By dive bar standards (and I mean that as a compliment), this place is huge! Long and lovely bar. Lots of seating. Clean bathrooms. Atmosphere-appropriate lighting. Pool tables and a good jukebox. My friend and I visited on a recent weekday, so the place was nearly empty. But the staff were top notch. We got an instant greeting, several check-ins, and prompt service. They were tearing down the St. Patrick’s Day stuff and putting up new decorations. Having never been here before, I didn’t feel like I was intruding. The staff made me feel at home.

I think the reviews and the average rating are about right. Thing is, check out some of the negative reviews. Most are years old. And the more recent one(s)—I am looking at you, Alex—makes the reviewer sound like a high-maintenance noodle who can’t fathom why people won’t respond to their friend requests. Hint: it’s you, Alex. It’s you.

Again, I am amazed I hadn’t visited before. And I plan to visit again the next time I am in the area. To the staff, thank you. You provided excellent service. To the owner, keep doing what you are doing. In a place that is more and more demolishing the heart and spirit of the area and pricing out locals, you provide a service that I am not sure newer transplants understand or even respect.

“What a freaking gem. This spot gives off serious LA or NYC vibes right in the heart of downtown SJ. The decor alone deserves a shoutout: stunning tall ceilings, gorgeous wood and metal accents, natural tones, and even a couple of olive tree centerpieces that ties it all together in a sleek, contemporary way. If you need a date night spot, try to lock in a reservation here.

The elevator bar is probably one of the most unique features I've ever seen, shuttling bottles of liquor from the downstairs bar to the loft bar. The loft area wasn't open yet, but I could already picture it being the perfect place to pre-game and soak in the energy from the restaurant below.

The food is dialed in. New American with a Mediterranean twist. The open kitchen concept is a nice touch, letting you watch your dishes as they're being prepared. Highly recommend ordering family style to share. The octopus is an absolute must--tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The lobster pasta was decadent - pricey, but you get huge chunks of lobster that makes it worthwhile. We also ordered the monster ribeye topped with some insane butter, cooked medium rare. If you have a group of 4 or more, do it.

The drinks were fantastic, though more subdued in flavor compared to their other concepts like Paper Plane or Mini Boss. I'd recommend dinner at Eos & Nyx, then cap off the night with a cocktail at one of their other bars.

This is a game-changer for downtown SJ. It really reminded me of Bavel in downtown LA, one of my favorite restaurants ever. Excited to see this place finally open!“

“Celebrated my birthday here with family (14 of us total), it was a fantastic experience from the start until the end! From the service in the bar area, where we ate as well, to the Putt experience! We had such a great time. For the golf portion, I would recommend smaller groups per hole. We had 7 and 7, it was quite tight! We made it work but maybe 3 groups would have been more spacious...nonetheless, we had an amazing time! Great spot in downtown SJ, would recommend for birthdays, date nights, Corpore events (they have an upstairs area you can rent). 10/10!“

The food was not super seasoned, i felt like i had to put a lot of salt to bring out flavors and because we went when it opened, a lot of the options we wanted were still frozen. The waiters were nice and accommodating, think it’ll be better a bit after they open.“

“THEY ARE OPEN MON AND/OR TUES IF THERE IS A SHARKS GAME! This was a place I wanted to try for pre-game dinner but saw they were closed (normally on Mon and Tues). Passing by, we were met by the bartender at the sidewalk who invited us in. I had the New Orleans combo as is had everything I was in the mood for. Not too spicy but tons of flavor. My Daughter had the crayfish pasta which she loved. The service was quick and friendly. You place your order at the counter then pick it up in the window when it's ready. This concept is perfect for those needing a quick, great meal before a game or concert. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. A full bar is outside and beer, wine, sodas are available when you place your order. It's a short 5 min walk to SAP Center. A true hidden gem. “I like to go to Secco when I go to Broadway San Jose Plays - ever since my Capital Club closed down, I really don't have a Go To restaurant... but it has proven to be a consistent good choice. We did the prix fix dinner... had a beautiful piece of salmon... with a wonderful watermelon salad.. but the Chocolate cake dessert... was beyond a 10 out of 10... I have truly never had a chocolate cake that delicious....“

“While looking for another pizzeria, I stumbled upon willow street pizza on a Thursday. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they offered a daily special on lasagna and garlic bread on this day. Thus I took my doggos to go eat here.

I was once again surprised to see they also offered a separate menu for doggos. I purchased for the doggos a 1/4 lb beef patty which they really enjoyed.

The special was incredibly filling and once I had some crushed red peppers to eat with it was very good and more than I initially expected. Besides the special I also purchased a mini pizza and garlic fries from the happy hour menu. The mini pizza was a bit too much dough to toppings but was good. The fries though felt like a good value for their $4 price tag.

Overall, willow street pizza is an excellent place to take doggos to and enjoy pasta and pizzas. I shall come back eventually.“

“Everything we had was tasty. The mussels dish was our favorite. Garlic noodle was also really good. The salmon mousse, we couldn’t really taste the salmon in it but it tasted fine. We also ordered catch of the day dish (not shown in picture), the fish was light and crispy but the kimchi fried rice it came with was lacking; it tasted more like lightly seasoned fried rice—couldn’t taste the kimchi. Overall, the presentation was great and taste was enjoyable.“
