“Having visited Chef Chu in Los Altos on multiple occasions, I've found the dining experience to be generally pleasant, albeit with room for improvement. The restaurant boasts some delectable dishes and a welcoming atmosphere, but there are notable areas that could be enhanced.Firstly, cleanliness standards need attention, particularly regarding glassware and cutlery. On several visits, I've observed dirty glasses and teacups, suggesting subpar cleaning practices. It's perplexing for a renowned establishment to overlook such basic hygiene, leaving patrons questioning the maintenance standards.Another aspect warranting consideration is the imposition of a limited dining time. Despite patrons wishing to linger and enjoy conversation after finishing their meals, there appears to be a rush to clear tables, even if dishes still contain food. This policy detracts from the relaxed dining experience expected at a high-profile restaurant like Chef Chu.On a positive note, interactions with some waitstaff have been delightful, reflecting the friendly ambiance cultivated by Chef Chu himself. However, consistent efforts are required to ensure all aspects of service align with the restaurant's esteemed reputation.Regarding the cuisine, while some dishes excel, others may fall short of expectations. It seems that char siu might not be the restaurant's forte, highlighting areas where culinary refinement could elevate the overall dining experience.“
“Came on a Thursday night before it got too busy, I left when it was full! Got pretty wasted , in a good way. Living walking distance is awesome. The duck fat cocktail sounded better than it tasted. Followed it up with a classic drink j forgot the name of lol. They are strong , and I love that ! Great neighborhood cocktail spot I hope it stays“
“The new Cetrella location is the shining star in the Los Altos culinary scene. Great ambience and the food is Michelin quality- exceptionally fresh ingredients with a skilled chef who really knows Mediterranean flavors. As always, owner Mamet is attentive and engaging. Best meal we've had in months!!! “
“Redwood Grill is my favorite place to go. The staff there makes me feel so welcomed, they already know how we like our food and our favorite drinks. I like to escape with my husband and have our time together. Sometimes to watch a sports game, sometimes to talk about business, or to have a date night. Other times I bring the whole family and even my friends after a PTO meeting. I have celebrated several family events at both locations. This restaurant has become a tradition to me. My favorite dish is the beet salad with a nice grilled salmon on top. My kids love the wings and bacon burger. My favorite drink is called “By the fire” this isn’t on the menu but sometimes I get spoiled and they prepare for me. I hope you can enjoy this restaurant as much as we do.“
“Date NightASA Restaurant has two locations in the Bay Area and their Los Gatos location earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognitionThis was my first dining experience at their more north location in downtown Los AltosWith high ceilings and heart themed adorned menus, this was a perfect spot for a Valentine’s week dining experienceThe menu here is slightly different from the Los Gatos location and I’ve heard that the two locations may not be as closely affiliated when they first openedI loved the appetizers and particular loved the anchovy bread with two different anchovy types topped on crisp, warm bread. The Dungeness crab appetizer was also excellentFor entrees, I opted for ASA’s signature exotic mushroom pasta that is on both the Los Gatos and Los Altos menuAs a fungi ? fan, I absolutely love this dish and it’s one of the best pasta dishes in the South Bay and PeninsulaThe only miss was their special of the day of striped bass over risotto. The purple yam purée was sour and the risotto dry with zero moisture or liquid and more like a cooked rice dish than a risottoASA is a fantastic destination for the Bay Area and while the prices are elevated, they reflect elevated cuisine (and high ceilings)? Smoked and Stoned $16 / Anchovy Bread $16 / Dungeness Crab Toast $36 / Special Striped Bass over Risotto / ASA’s Exotic Mushroom Pasta $34?ASA Restaurant (Los Altos, CA)Reservations are recommended on Opentable and dining is indoor only. Credit cards including AmEx are accepted.“
“Near a curve on a four line road is an eclectic older Mexican restaurant with artistic merit, interesting landscaping outdoor dining and several different kinds of tables and chairs indoors, including a bar.The menu has several options many of which I had not seen in Mexican food places before. I have tried their tamales, chili relleno, black beans, pinto beans, rice, grilled chicken, quesadilla, pico, guacamole, and the provided chips and salsa. All of the flavors are excellent. The green sauce and masa of the tamale, and the firm aged relleno cheese filling were outstanding.Indoors is Mexican music, while outdoors there is traffic noise. The tortilla chips are the thin triangle bagged kind. The restroom has an old sink and fixtures. But the custom artwork, high ceilings with paper fiesta decor and painted furniture are classic south of the border. The seats are all flat wood, no cushions. No sauce bar or extra hot sauce present. Will need another visit to try the mole.Vegetarian options: Enchiladas are great.“
