“One Fish absolutely lived up to the hype. I love that the menu changes constantly with the seasons, so there’s always a reason to come back. Every dish felt fresh, thoughtful, and packed with interesting flavor combinations that somehow just worked.

I mixed hot and cold dishes and everything was outstanding. The oysters with their accompaniments were incredibly fresh, the halibut and kanpachi were beautifully prepared, and the fried chicken with sauce and caviar was one of the most unexpectedly delicious bites I’ve had in a long time. The sake selection was excellent as well.

The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between upscale and relaxed. Great music, a clean and intentional space, and genuinely friendly service. Walked in without a reservation, but it’s nice that they can accommodate both walk-ins and reservations.

Chef Owner Trent was welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he’s creating. Skipped the omakase this visit, but after this meal it’s at the top of my list for next time. One Fish is inventive without being pretentious, and it’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to every month to see what’s new.“

“This Vietnamese restaurant has been owned by the same family for decades, and it's clear they take pride in their craft. The staff is warm, attentive, and consistently provides great service. Their menu is diverse and full of memorable high-quality dishes; I've been enjoying their pho bo for nearly 2 decades back when this place was across from Santa Row. The restaurant is well-maintained with a beautiful walled zen garden visible from the restaurant interior whose scenery changes with the seasons. Central location, easy parking, tasty food and good quantity for the price - consider my family and I regulars.“

“Another one of my go-to spots for fresh Mexican seafood in San Jose! This is a food truck you definitely don’t want to pass up. Everything I’ve tried has been fresh, flavorful, and delicious, and you can really taste the quality in every bite.
My personal favorite is the burrito, but the tostada is an absolute must-try too!

“I really enjoyed my visit to Oc Lau Nuong Restaurant. The seafood was fresh, especially the grilled oysters and hot pot, and the portions were generous. The atmosphere was lively and perfect for eating with family or friends.

The service was friendly, but it took a little longer than expected to get our food during a busy time. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back to try more dishes.“

“We went to Surmai yesterday and honestly, the food was fabulous. We tried the prawn thali, the special thali, and the paplet thali, and every single dish hit the mark. We ended up so full we could barely move, but in the best way possible.

Chef Sheetal came by our table and was so warm and welcoming, it made the whole experience even better. You can tell there’s real care that goes into the food here.

We ordered the half lamb hot pot, it was tasty and had generous portion that came with a small side dish of tofu, vermicelli and vegetables. We recommend this dish and would suggest skipping the set lunch that seems to be more for non Chinese.“
