“This is a great place to stop and get a quick meal, the service is fast the food is hot and it’s delicious! We ate the lo mein, the pork and shrimp pan fried dumplings and the pork buns. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Be careful eating the dumplings, the yummy liquid inside squirted everywhere when I bit into it! I would not say it’s a relaxing dinner environment more of get in and get out kind of place but you don’t begrudge that fact. It was busy enough to tell that the food was good but not too busy I had to wait on a Saturday night at 7.“

“Your Basic Chinese buffet-style, (Except that they serve you) economy spot, and the selections are just a little better, and a little fresher than some of the other cheapo spots. The Shu Mai (pork dumplings) were really good.Whattaya want? this is econo dining.“

“Had 2 of the 2 entrée dinners. The first with chow mein, Broccoli beef and orange chicken. The 2nd had the fried rice, broccoli beef and string bean chicken. Fried rice was definitely undercooked, the rice kernels were much too chewy. Otherwise pretty good. We did take out and it took about 10 mins to get home, I like the change to the biodegradable containers but they don't keep it as hot as the plastic ones. Just means I'll eat in vs take home.“

“There is a something I cannot get enough of lately and that is Chinese takeout! China Garden is kind of a staple in my takeout routine as of late. I generally get a fried rice, stir fried green beans, some kind of chow fun and chicken for a bit of variety. This restaurant does great to provide ample portions, and after ordering here a few times I can say that sometimes it can be hit or miss in terms of whether you get great ratios of ingredients to your food, and whether you will need to spend a bit extra time in the kitchen to heat and prepare. My go to here really is their fried rice it is a must. Also, reheats great on my wok. The staff here is pretty friendly too. If you are looking for a new takeout spot, I would definitely put this on my recommendations for you, it has all the classics!“

“This is one of my two favorite Chinese places in the Bay Area. I've been going there for like 15 years, miss them a lot when I'm in DC working. It's a very affordable place, the lunch deluxe deal is unbeatable. They can also do dishes that are not in the menu for the connoisseurs like pak chit kai, the traditional steamed half hen with a tangy and tasty ginger garlic scallion condiment. It's no frills, but we are not here for a Michelin experience but to eat really delish Chinese Cantonese plates. And the owners are always really nice and they speak Spanish (at least some, and they are funny)“

“House of Dumplings is an absolute treasure! Their dumplings are incredibly fresh, flavorful, and clearly handmade with care. Every bite is a delight, whether steamed or pan-fried. Beyond the dumplings, their other Chinese dishes are also excellent. This place is a must-visit for authentic and delicious food. Highly, highly recommend!“

“For years up until now, this place is still very generous with the huge portion sizes that they give, for such a super affordable prices.
The set up and food options are super similar to a Panda Express, but imagine actual authentic Chinese food, with way more variety (example: they have fish options and eggplant while Panda Express does not) and cheaper prices & bigger portions where the to go box barely closes.
My first go to here was the hot and spicy chicken, but I tend to get the hot and spicy fish nowadays, and I don’t eat fish, generally. I’ve always appreciated how their food is no where near as oily as the general Chinese food buffets I used to go to growing up.“

“Quick & delicious— Came here two days in a row for lunch!
This restaurant has been here since 1988 & is the definition of a hidden gem. They are tucked away in the hills of Hayward, but also close to Cal State East Bay.
I am a sucker for quick lunches. At China Best Restaurant, not only is it affordable, you get massive portions. Each meal is cooked to order so you’re getting steaming hot & homemade food. You should expect a ~15-20 minute wait for your food, but I promise it’s worth it!
Their menu is quite large, but very easy to read & makes sure that everyone has something to eat. I was excited to try their beef with bitter melon combo (comes with chow mein & steamed rice)! I chose the black bean sauce. The second day, I ordered the same combo, but asked them to sub the beef with chicken. They happily accommodated my request & quickly took my order over the phone.
I was not prepared for the amount of food that was piled into that takeout container— and for only $15 too! Each combo could easily be 2-2.5 meals.
Both days, the beef and the chicken were succulent but still had the right amount of chew. The bitter melon was cooked exactly how I like it, still had a nice crunch! The noodles were seasoned lightly, which was a nice change of flavor for typical Chinese restaurants where everything is overly salty!
They have plenty of seating if you’re looking to dine in rather than order takeout. The restaurant presents itself as a fairly standard place to eat because the food speaks for itself. No need for fancy decorations. I will say, the restaurant is very clean which I appreciate. Next time I’m around, I’ll dine in so I can try out a bowl of soup.
Make sure you ask for some chili oil, I’m not sure if it’s house made but it’s a nice Szechuan style chili oil and it goes so well with the chow mein!“

“The food and experience where fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. The food came out fast and tasty enough. There are better places to eat Chinese food at, but the food here is typically of an average Chinese restaurant. The restaurant could do with an interior upgrade. The interior is out dated. The staff is friendly and helpful. I have do not have problems with returning to the restaurant in the future.“

“Excellent food- Visting from Chicago, and we have 100s of halal restaurants but nothing compares to this Authentic Chinese restaurant. Options for both spicy and non spicy. Large menu, but I would say, stick with basics for your first time. I don’t usually give reviews but this was actually very good.

“This is the best Chinese takeout place in the East Bay. Hands down. The food is always fresh since there are so many people who come here. Whenever something is running low, the cooks already have the next batch ready. I personally like the barbecue chicken or pork, as well as the ribs in black bean sauce. You can't go wrong with the salt & pepper fried fish as well. The best part is that it's very affordable!“

“Backstory. My partner and I have been regular visitors or semi-regular visitors to the IHOP next door for over 20 years.
They must have been a lot of takeout because every time we went to IHOP there was hardly anybody in the Great River parking lot.
Well we decided this weekend to actually go and check it out and funny enough, quite a few cars in the parking lot.
We kept it simple because we really didn't feel like eating much. So we just got chicken and vegetables, and chop suey because it is pretty much all veggie, and a couple of bowls of rice.
Everything was nicely cooked, the chicken was tender. Very nice lady waiting on us Yes we will return because we always like to find a nice Chinese restaurant where we can just relax and chill out for a while. We used to have one of those in Fremont but it closed. Sad to say so. We've been on the hunt for a while. A good find.“

“They’re reliable! Been going here for about 8 years now. It seems to be ran by a Chinese couple there, very kind folk. Always a smile on their face when I see them. It’s a super no-frills hole-in-the-wall call—ahead type dealio. Our regular items are:
1. Beef chow mein
2. Beef or house chow fun
3. Fried Rice
4. Beef and Brocolli
5. Sweet and sour pork
6. Fried pork wontons
7. Shrimp egg foo young - recent pick-up
& some refrigerated Dr. Pepper cans! Call ahead about 15-20 minutes and they’re always pretty good about getting done by then. Sometimes I wait a little extra but it’s because they’re a bit busy for dinner time.“

“As a family we’ve ordered superior Chinese food from Nanking even before it was NanKing when it was Uncle Wu’s. Never disappointed until tonight. All food we received was cold even the rice. Little flavor as well. Very cold making the special evening not enjoyable and we live one mile from them.“

“My personal favorite dish is their House special pan fried noodles. The portion of this was insane, this itself can feed 4 people. Love the vegetables, squid, shrimp,…. on top of the noodles. The toppings are cooked with this slightly thick sauce which drenches the fried noodle making it some parts of it crunchy and some of it soft/soggy. I grew up eating this dish and so I’m almost always ordering this dish.
My second favorite dish is their honey walnut shrimp. This is always a hit at every family dinner I have and so I just had to order it. Their shrimp had a bite to it and a bouncy texture. It was cooked perfectly.
Everything we ordered:
- $20.95 Honey Walnut Shrimps
- $25.95 Beef cubes and scallop with teriyaki sauce
- $24.95 Pickled dried vegetables/Braised pork belly with sweet potato leaves
- $20.95 House special pan fried noodles
- $19.95 Salt and pepper pork chops
- $9.95 Marinated tofu“

“My daughter came home for vacation and she wanted to have dimsum at our favorite place Saigon Harbor Seafood in Newark, but it's closed indefinitely. We wanted to try a new place and we found this one on Yelp. It's in the place of a Korean restaurant years ago when the kids were little. It's a very small restaurant, the parking is limited in a small shopping center, but on SAT it wasn't crowded so we found a parking spot.
It's small, clean, but not airy as the big restaurant. My daughter using the iPhone App and the food came out quite quickly. This is a family owned restaurant so the mom serves for everyone, quite effective.
We ordered the usual, xiu mai, beef rice crepe, chicken feet, beancurd wrapped, soup dumplings, fried gyoza, some tripes that my daughter likes. There's no meatballs that my son likes.
The chicken feet are up to par with others, very tasty and cooked perfectly. The beef rice crepes are good and soft, the beancurd wrapped has too much cornstarch, sauce is too thick although the taste is there, didn't look good. The soup dumplings are bland, not very delicious as other restaurants. The tripes are good. My son ate all the fried Gyoza and he said it's OK. The xiu mai wasn't full flavored and not fresh.
I'm not sure if this is a cantonese restaurant or mandarin. It seems like a mixed one. To me the Cantonese restaurant has the best dim sum. Mandarin or chinese mainland has the best soup dumplings.
Anyhow, it's OK for me, but the kids didn't like it much.
The prices are very reasonable.“

“I have been coming here for years and have always had great service. When I call in my order the lady knows my voice and always asks if I want the mushroom chicken (my usual) or something different. Went today and hadn't been here for months, and she still recognized my voice“

“Our go-to local Chinese fast food spot. The workers are always very friendly and the food is consistent. The best part is that they really pack the food in, you get a ton of value for what you pay for. Unlike other places like Panda, which cheaps out on quantity. The food here is legit, try the bbq pork, bbq chicken, kung pao chicken, and orange chicken. Very good food for the price.“

“Have not been in here for a very long time. I think it was with the ex-wife. Anyway, we ordered a white dinner with just chicken chow mein and egg foo young with rice. The chowing was nice, kind of the usual chow mein that everybody else makes, the egg foo young was slightly disappointing because it was, it seemed less egg and more batter.
I will come back because there are other dishes to try and I'm curious about their shrimp dumplings“

“It’s my first visit here. I loved the rice casserole and the fried pork ribs. The rice casserole was very authentic and delicious, just like the best ones I had in China.
The place was clean and the service was great. The manager answered my questions and when she saw there’s oil on my hands, she got me a paper napkin before I asked. I was very grateful!“

“It's the best Chinese around these days without driving far. Excellent service but lacking in some flavor... You cover that up by requesting extra sweet and sour and you can enjoy the menu.
I'm a chef so I'm a food snob, but I'm used to New York Style Chinese food and I was addicted to that. West coast Chinese is whelming at best.“

“Pho or Yunnan? Yunnan for me. I think it’s healthier. Nothing like a bowl of numbing soup in the winter. The rice noodles go down so nice and the toppings are more elegant in taste and texture. The soup base really takes it. Can’t go wrong with the fish fillets.“

“FYI: this is not a hot pot restaurant and the parking is a quick right turn before the fence
I came across this shop after seeing reviews and photos about the meat quality. Yummy Fresh in Fremont is a hidden gem that offers restaurant-quality hot pot meats and ingredients at a fraction of the price. The best part is that there’s no tipping like at restaurants, making it even more affordable. Everything is fresh, well-packaged, and perfect for a hot pot night at home. Highly recommend for anyone who loves quality without the restaurant pricing.
The owner is friendly and knows a lot about meat quality. Just ask him, and he will help you pick out options. There are both hot pot meats and grilling meats available. The quality of the meats are really good, and I know my meat as an avid BBQ and hot pot lover. There are also snacks, drinks, hot pot seasing, some veggies, and a lot of other things to choose from. It's a great idea with no lines, no tips-- just do it at home with the best quality meat.“

“This is my families favorite chinese restaurant in Oakland. The food is authentic and delicious.
We usually eat in, but the place is dated and simple. So if the ambiance isnt important, this is the local place in this part of Oakland to come.
I dont eat pork or beef, so we mostly order veggie or chicken dishes. Always, egg fu yong, veggie mu shu, broccoli beef(broccoli is bright green, yet fully cooked), chicken chow mein, and for hubby mongolian beef. This is plenty for 3 adults, 2 kids, with enough leftovers for another day. Hubby traded for sweet & and sour shrimp, this time. It looked ok, but not impressive (breaded, which I dont eat). My son likes the spicy sweet sauced chicken, or kung pao chicken.
The fortune cookies are crisp, and the waitress always gives the kids candy.
Parking on MacArthur is a pain, but there is usually parking around the corner on the street, by the church on 38th.“

“This is an amazing find in Castro Valley! We went there because we needed a place to have lunch. We were surprised with not only an amazing selection, but extremely welcoming, owner and servers, and the food! The food was incredible. They do not cater to American taste. This is the real thing. The vegetables with tofu sauce were incredible as was the pork and everything else we had the dessert of tofu with mantis or ginger is a must. Highly recommend!!“
