“My boyfriend and I now frequent Sushi Star since discovering the place a couple of months ago! It’s always very clean. A very pleasant atmosphere. Our waitress has always been Yi. She is very pleasant and thorough. Now, then there is the master sushi chef, Eric! IOHO we think he makes the best sushi we have ever had hands down! Our BIGGEST RECOMMENDATION IS THE BAKED SCALLOPS! “Came when they opened at 5pm and the server Lady was super nice and friendly! Sadly didn't get her name. The sushi was fire and fish was great for the price! Didn't even have to ask for extra wasabi and we got the perfect extra amount (I love wasabi). If you don't like wasabi you should ask to have none or less so none goes to waste. The food is consistently amazing. The Red Dragon roll is my favorite with jalapeño peppers also it’s just packs the perfect kick. The Citrus Roll is fresh, flavorful, and a perfect signature touch. And don’t even get me started on the gyoza—easily the best in town. Pam seared to perfection on the outside, flavorful inside, and always served piping hot.

Went with a few buddies, and we got some apps and each got two rolls. We left completely stuffed and happy. We didn't even finish our apps, even though we wanted to.

I would recommend trying the Roger roll. It comes out on its own plate, and is on fire to start! It was the first time I had a flambéed sushi roll, and it definitely imparted an irresistible flavor to it (similar to wok hei).“

“Gift card scam. Mikunis implemented a new protocol in 2022. Any gift cards that were purchased before a certain (unknown) date, and now utilized, will be zeroed out. Back story: I attempted to use a gift card today (April 2023) and was informed it had a zero balance. The server kept my card. I had a gut feeling, asked for the card back. I spoke to the manager about how I could have a zero balance when I had never used it. The manager informed me that corporate zeroed out all gift cards that weren’t used. In order for me to get my money on the gift card, I have to call corporate headquarters and “request” an inquiry; which I did to no avail. It’s not about “expired” gift cards. It’s about not informing consumers ahead of a new rule that gift cards be zeroed out before a certain date. I’ve used 10 year old gift cards at other restaurants without any problem. Biggest scam ever.“

“Absolute gem of a sushi place. I have lived in Japan and this is the most authentic look, feel and taste of a sushi place I have visited stateside. It's certainly not fancy, but it would not be out of place in a back alley of Osaka. Authentic prices too, very reasonable for the quantity and quality.

For a skeleton, the highlight was undoubtedly the marrow-infused broth, which was rich enough to make me almost forget my lack of flesh. It was comforting in a way that transcended the corporeal.
