“I really never have enjoyed tasting menus….but Tiya’s tasting menu fully changed my opinion on them. 4/6 dishes were things I probably wouldn’t have ordered on a regular menu so getting to try these dishes was a treat. We supplemented the tasting menu with the chicken gushtaba and the shrimp. They were both so good but the gushtaba was outstanding….Think a chicken meatball in fondue.
Everything was a flavor bomb and I would definitely come back“

“Unique and rich malai kofta paired with some kingfisher and garlic naan definitely slapped. The fish pakora didn’t hit the mark tho, coz the salmon was overcooked. The owner was sweet and offered a free gulab jamun with the cheque. Will come back again for the smiles!“

“Very hard to overstate how absolutely amazing this place is. The food is superb, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the service goes above and beyond to ensure you have the most perfect experience. Some of the best restaurants in the Bay Area. Extremely recommended!“

“Most important factor for us is the food itself, and here the flavors and cooking style were great! We always get our usual dishes at every Indian restaurant and so are accustomed to how they are supposed to taste (despite not being Indian…we get Indian at least once a week or every other week at different restaurants around town). Seasonings were great and crispy things were crispy and naan wasn’t burnt and dry. Only complaint was the biryani rice portion size was a bit small. Next is the service: I don’t usually care about service unless it is substantially lacking but service here was excellent, they checked on us a bunch of times. I also noticed a portable baby changing bassinet in the bathroom which was appreciated- many other restaurants don’t go out of their way to provide that and even though I didn’t need it tonight, we do have a baby and had i needed to change her, it would have been frustrating to not have a baby changing table in the bathroom. Finally, I don’t care about atmosphere much as long as it’s not dirty or uncomfortable for some reason, so would say that it was average, nothing extraordinary but nothing too shabby. Overall would return again if in the area. And this was the 2nd time I’ve been there.“

“Enjoyed a beautiful meal here. Food: buryani, naan basket, chicken potato curry, Napalese noodle soup to start. Excellent food, EXCEPT the $9 top Ramen soup starter. Wtf? Wouldn't recommend. Absolutely delightful waiter! Will return.“

“Copra is a fine dining Indian restaurant with beautiful ambiance and decor. A reservation is required. The cocktails were impressive—we enjoyed the Jaggery Sour, a slightly sweet twist on a whiskey sour, and the Lassi Punch, a smooth spiced drink. For appetizers, the rasam puri was unique and refreshing—a must-try! The dahi chaat vada was good but quite heavy, and the vennai shrimp, though tasty, had too much ghee for our liking. For mains, the cod was delicious with authentic Kerala flavors, while the lamb shoulder was flavorful but could have been a bit more tender. Overall, it was an average experience—not exceptional but enjoyable.“

“Highly highly recommend. It’s hard for us to go to the city without stopping here to eat, we love bringing new friends here as well. If you love Indian food, this is a great place.
Vegetarian options: There’s a large vegetarian section and they are familiar with vegan and we’re even careful to warn me that one of the items I ordered is not vegan“

“Noe Indian Cuisine is top notch in every way! We stopped here for our lunch during our bachelorette weekend with six of us, and we were in a hurry to get to our next activity. They took our orders right away, brought the drinks and food quickly, and all of it tasted incredibly delicious, hot, and fresh. Not only that, but they brought all the boxes we needed too. Honestly, this is the best and speediest service I have ever seen at a sit down restaurant. If I'm ever back in San Francisco, I will be coming back!“

“There used to be a different indian restaurant in the space, but it’s under new ownership now and the food is delicious! They are always so friendly and the ambiance is perfect for dining in. Don’t skip the momos! Will be my go-to spot for indian and nepalese food moving forward.“

“Castro Indian Restaurant and Bar exceeded all expectations! The cocktails were expertly crafted by a talented bartender, each one bursting with unique flavors. Our server was fantastic—attentive, warm, and knowledgeable, adding a personal touch to the evening. The ambiance was both cozy and chic, making it the perfect spot for a night out. Can’t wait to return for more delicious food and amazing service!“

“We have walked past Tara soooo many times over the years, and for some weird unknown reason, we have never dined here. Boy did we miss out! Came in on a Saturday early evening just after they opened for dinner. The dining area is pretty small as are most in SF. Nice decor all around, and clean.
Our servers, as there were a couple, were super friendly and explained everything we needed to know about the menu. Plus, they start you off with complimentary crispy roti and some sauces to dip into.
Ok so now on to the food... We love our Indian food, and for us, spicy is always great. Our server did take the time to ask us too, which I appreciate!
Chicken chilli - beautiful with a slight crispyness and tons of flavor in the chicken and the sauce.
Coconut lamb curry - tender (melt in your mouth) lamb chunks in a smooth and flavorful curry sauce
Saag Paneer - my benchmark. . . excellent, flavorful and tastes like it was truly wonderful with large chunks of paneer that you cut and swirl in the saag
We ordered basmati rice as our base for the meal (did not need another flavored side to interfere with the other items)
And, of course you MUST have garlic naan.. . this was crispy on top and still tender to pull apart and dig in to the sauces.
The price was very reasonable for the quality and amount of food we were given. In fact, we sat there and ate waaaay too much at the table. Should have boxed some up for later... but we didn't...LOL
Overall, this was a great meal and we will absolutely keep Tara on our hit list.“

“Place was old, blue on the outside, sign was really small and only on one side of the building...doesnt look inviting. Place could have been cleaner.
Food was good. I wanted spicy, the really spicy dosa wasn't spicy...that is why it's 4 star for food
Phone service wasn't all that great but they were really nice in person.“

“We rly enjoyed Tiya (ex ROOH chef’s new restaurant) so came to try ROOH which is a more casual but still modern Indian restaurant. Although the dishes weren’t as creative and meticulously executed, they were all very good! Nothing was impressive but nothing was bad either.
Would maybe come back to ROOH with friends, and go to Tiya for date nights :)
Recommend the dahi puri! The paneer pinwheel was ok - maybe our expectations were too high. The lamb shank was good. Chili crab was too oily and crispy prawns too sweet.
A bit overpriced for what it is - on the other hand although Tiya is more expensive, we felt like it was totally worth it. Still, a cool spot in the neighborhood to hang out and try smt new.“

“Rose is absolutely amazing! Everything on their menu is truly so delicious. Good portion sizes and reasonable prices too. Beyond the food, Rose is a wonderful place to eat where you will be treated like family. I can’t say enough good things about this place I love it so much!
PS. Don’t miss the Rose thali special for two!“

“extremely bad tasting food and bizzare combinations....miffed at kichadi like biryani with no flavour and being served with aam ka achar....god knows how this restaurant got Michelin star rating ....Shame on the chefs and the owners for ripping off the customers with overpricing of the food for poor service, absence of any ambience or decor“

“Had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant! Our server, DB, was absolutely amazing—polite, kind, and had a great sense of humor. He even played a fun little prank on us, which made the experience even more enjoyable! What stood out the most was his thoughtfulness—he adjusted my drink to be salty instead of sugary due to my condition, which was such a kind gesture. On top of that, the food was absolutely delicious! Great service, great atmosphere, and great food—I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!“

“I got Karahi Gosht and it was authentic and flavorful. Serving quantity was decent as well. I live in the South Bay and most places over there don't get this dish right. 5* from me, for the Karahi Gosht and Naan. Service understandably took some time because they make it fresh and piping hot. And I went there in between performances of standup comedy at Cobb's next door.“

“I've had this place on my "to-eat in sf" list for a while now and was finally able to enjoy it. I brought a Nepali friend wit me as well and she loved it just as much as I did.
The server was very kind and attentive and did his best to always make sure we were doing well. My friend spoke to the two servers in Nepali and was happy to be able to use her native language with the locals in the city. This is also how we found out that the restaurant owner is probably from Nepal which is what made the food so delicious and a great mix of Indian and Nepali flavors.
The chicken momo was the first thing that came out and was visually beautiful and the flavors were truly outstanding to the point of it being some of the best momo I've tried in the bay. The chutney that accompanied it was so good my friend made sure to leave the container clean.
My lamb vindaloo was again some of the best I've had. Not too spicy and not too mild. That along withe the cheese garlic naan was delicious and worty of another trip back.
The chicken biryani my friend ordered was just as delicious as the rest of the foods and I would've loved to have more of it but I was stuffed with everything else!
Cannot recommend this place enough. It's a must try!“

“Wasn't a fan the first time though the cousins were. Enjoyed it much more the second time.
The first time we got medium spice for most of our dishes and was really struggling. So the second time we got mostly mild. But the mild had no spice at all. Would love if there was an in between spice level.
* Papadi Chaat - medium spice. Crispy. Cold. Didn't know there were spice levels for chaat. This is not a main menu item but instead a special we saw taped at the counter. Would get again
* Aloo Tikka Chaat - medium spice. Mixes really well with the papadi chaat
* Chicken Vindaloo (mild) & Lamb Vindaloo (medium) - both the vindaloo sauce came out tasting completely different. We don't know if it's because of the spice level or the fats from the proteins but it was different. We enjoyed the lamb vindaloo more.
* Chicken korma (mild) - good
* Paneer tikka masala (mild) - favorite but would have liked a little spice
* Chicken biryani (mild) - good
* Garlic naan - have garlicy. Not too oily. Crispy.
All curries comes with rice if you ask for it.
There are specials on the counter.
Free endless chai.“

“The BEST Indian restaurant in the city as I tried many of them and found this one as the best. I tried their Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta and Roti. The taste was really superb and the quantities are also good. So I got to pack some and take home as my next days meal. The service here is really outstanding as they stay very attentive towards the guests. I will really go back and try some of their other dishes.“

“The people that work here are super friendly and hospitable. They knew me by name after the first visit and were extremely accommodating, even when ordering food like 15 min to closing. The food is also very good. We picked up food from here 3x in one week. ? The "mild" is definitely more like white people medium, but the flavor is very good. The stand out dishes we've had so far are the masala fries, butter chicken, and chicken biryani. It's also a good amount of food for the price in my opinion. Highly recommend this place!“

“Met up with some friends to try out Indian Oven and wasn't disappointed. We had Tandori Chicken, Chana Masala, and a Lamb dish in a cashew sauce (forgot the name). All had different flavors and were delicious. Spice levels were good and not overpowering. Everything was cooked to order and we even watched as the kitchen hand rolled our Naan. Prices were extremely reasonable for today's climate. We spent about $60 for 3 people to all eat till we were full and even took home a container of food. I'll definitely go back and/or order takeout from them. If you are looking for something different from the usual burgers and chicken sandwiches, give the Indian Oven a try.
Parking: This is located in Lower Haight and street parking is limited. There are however a lot of transit options to get here. The Church Muni station is a few blocks away as well as the J/N lines on Church/Duboce. Also lots of busses like the 22 and 7 go right by here.“

“We stopped there on our way to catch our flight at SF airport. We were short on time and we placed our order. Our server was fantastic helping us to order and we were served our dinner promptly. There was a feeling that all the staff worked together as a team, looking after all the tables not just their own station. That is a sign of true teamwork. We really enjoyed our dinner there. Food and service~ EXCELLENT!“

“I had their lamb roganjosh, aloo Gobi, and chicken chettinand. People might say Pakwan is the place to go for good Indian food in the city, but I was thoroughly impressed with what I ate at Keeva. This is not watered down gringofied Indian food. Absolutely loved the lamb roganjosh, the cauliflower and potatoes were very well spiced, and while I personally didn't like the chettinand, I understand the flavor profile and what that dish is. You're missing out on really delicious Indian food if you're not eating here.“

“Truly phenomenal flavor. Never been to this place in person but I doordash from here often and the quality and taste of the food is just out of this world. My personal favorites and recommendations are the tandoori fish, butter chicken, and fish biryani.“

“Guys, for the price of Biryani out here in SF, they STACK it on for you. Straight up like 3 lbs of chicken biryani. And I absolutely HATE when restaurants have the audacity to charge extra for Raita (like some restaurants on Valencia). But look at the (free) raita they give. It’s like double the normal condiment containers. Best I’ve ever had? No, but up there for SF. They’re really looking out to make sure you get what you pay for.“

“We came to this traditional Indian place. We have been taking a lot of South Indian food lately and more modern surroundings so it was nice to be back in these old style Indian places with classic Indian themes. The food was tasty and they were not shy on the spice for a medium level. We ordered rice, plain naan and fish tikka masala. Definitely a nice place to come and sit and have have a quiet meal on a Friday night with full wait service. Which is rare these days.“

“Start with this fact that this place has changed name, so don't look for Bon AppeTikka.Given the number of Indian nationals eating here and the huge amount of take out deliveries occurring, there's solid demand for this shopThe meal (3 main courses) was fine as far as it goes. My problem was that there was nothing about the food that makes me go "wow!!". It's nice food, it's freshly prepared but it's just nice. There's no va va va wow there“

“My newest favorite Indian place. After losing our all time favorite due to closure, we have been trying multiple different Indian restaurants. This place is tasty with a generous biryani portion size, larger than any of the other places we’ve been to, deserving of a good review! Humble but adequate interior- we’ve eaten in and gotten carry out and both were fine. Will be getting carry out here on a consistent basis unless something changes!“

“I would be speaking my deepest truth to tell you that coming here was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. The quality, the care, the explosion of delicious savory and exciting flavors. This is my new go to spot and a spot I will be sure to recommend to others and take visitors to before they leave. I'm not even saying this to be nice but i would be living a lie if I said this wasn't some of the best food I had in a long time. They master what they do and with such welcoming kindness.“
