“Great place to enjoy a drink or a bite of food overlooking the Coronado Beach and Hotel del Coronado. Weekends are busy yet we were able to get a table to enjoy the cold beverage enjoying the autumn sun. They play live music in the afternoons making the place to visit and enjoy time with family and friends.
Free street parking is available a short walk away but can be hard to find at times. A must visit destination on your next trip to San Diego.“

Nice dine-in area too, I waited there for my impromptu order. Great birria Miquel, thank you. I will be back!“

“We ordered over the phone, which was a bit confusing because they didn't ask for my name or number, but they got the order right!
We tried the shredded beef burrito and the carne asada nachos (without sour cream) and both were amazing! The beef and carne asada both had great flavor, and the tortilla for the burrito was great. The nacho toppings were also very good. I wish the accompanying salsa was a bit spicier, but it was still good.
Coming from southern Arizona which has amazing Mexican food, we were impressed! Would definitely recommend.“

“I recently visited this Taco shop and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. We walked in for an evening meal and, honestly, with low expectations.
Everyone in my party chose different items and they were all delicious. My husband and I ordered tortas, his asada and mine chicken. Chicken tortas are typically not very tasty. This is the first one I've ever had that was quite delicious. My husband, who is very picky about his food was also happy. That is rare. I don't live in the area but when I'm there in the future, I'll definitely be back. Great tasting food!“

“Taquizas Tommy did a fabulous job catering my Mexican themed bridal shower! Tommy’s wife, Maria, and Miguel cooked an amazing feast that everyone raved about. The meat was flavorful, the rice and beans were delicious. Everybody was full and happy. Communication, service, and food were 5 stars and we look forward to using Tommy and his team again soon!“

“It was an absolute delight. The service was quick and courteous. I had the Taco Platter sampler - the suggestions were spot on. I then got the Cali burrito and Quesadilla to go. Everything was fresh and tasty. Would definitely go there again the next time I have the opportunity.
Vegetarian options: Excellent vegan (plant-based) food.
Dietary restrictions: Non-dairy, vegan, plant-based.“

“Wonderful, just so wonderful. Had a large party of 8 and everyone was thrilled with their orders which ranged across the whole menu. The fish tacos were a personal highlight, as was the quesadillas and of course Cali burrito (both huge). No lard in the tortillas or in the beans (corn oil) is much appreciated. This place really could fit the bill for neighborhood taco shop but then goes above and beyond and elevates the quality. And the prices are super reasonable.
Vegetarian options: Tortillas and beans are vegetarian and no lard. Rice has chicken stock. Staff are very conscious.
Dietary restrictions: Tortillas and beans have no lard. Staff are very conscious.
Kid-friendliness: Super great for kids.“

“I've heard from several locals that this is the place for carne asada fries and California burritos. While I didn't order either, because I chose delivery, I can say that Humberto's carne asada was good albeit on the salty side.
However, the standout for me was their refried beans. So smooth and flavorful. I used my cheese quesadilla to scoop and dip into that creamy mash then dousing in their red salsa, it hit just right.
Next time I'll try the California burrito if we decide to eat in since fries don't last long using delivery. Soggy fries, no good. Oh and of course a side of their refried beans.
Solid.“

“I had the smoked fish tacos ? They did not disappoint. I had to remember to snap a pic before I gobbled them both. Two (2) tacos were very filling so pace yourself in ordering. It’s cool that their menu provides the sizes of the tortilla so you can get a feel for street taco vs regular taco sizes and you know how to order accordingly. I liked the touch that the grilled celery added, just small pieces enhance the flavor and well-seasoned grilled veggies. The atmosphere was well kept too, clean area and tables. The mechanic shop next door was no bother at all. Peaceful, sunny, late morning lunch.“

“I was in San Diego for 5 days and I went here twice. It is that good! I had the grilled mahi mahi tacos and the California burrito both were absolutely amazing. Why would anyone in San Diego ever go to Chipotle when you can get food that's 10x for almost the same price? Highly recommended!“

“I missed my trolley stop so I jumped off and see this taco shop across the tracks. The owner was very friendly. He said you missed your stop to come try my food. I "Why not?" and order 3 mini tacos - cabeza, adobado, carnitas. Each one was so tasty. The tortillas were fresh and perfectly chewy. The salsas nicely spicy. And I got a grilled jalapeño. Love those. I'm going to miss my stop every Monday from now on!“

“California Burrito Ranking (4):
Continuing my quest to rank San Diego's California Burritos!
Stop number four: Humberto's Taco Shop.
Product: The burrito was the largest I've ever seen, served incredibly quickly. It was fiery hot, almost too much so.Personally, I found the meat a bit dry. It's the cheapest burrito I've had in the city. They offer very spicy sauces. 5 out of 10
Service: The interaction was decent. 4 out of 10
Ambiance: Vibrant colors. Customers carve messages directly into the tables. When I arrived, it was quiet, but soon a large crowd formed and the line extended right to my table. 4 out of 10“

“I stop here every time I’m in this side of my neighborhood. Take the 15 freeway and Exit El Cajon Blvd, go East a few blocks but don’t pass Menlo Ave. Look for Fish and Birria signs waving. They have the whole parking lot just drive in! I usually have two or three Fish tacos (w/o crema) and a pop then they usually know when I’m done because my to-go order is hot and ready!! My grandson is very picky but he looks forward to their Carne Asada Quesa taco’s. I’ve tried a lot off their menu and have never been disappointed, ever. They also GIVE you a “Consommé” which is actually a small portion of their seafood soup not just the fluid, I’ve had whole shrimp in mine many times and small pieces of fish. They’re not stingy with their variety of hot salsas/chili pods and garnishes (limes, cilantro, onions and pickled onions. Lots of ice cold canned and bottled drinks to choose from. This is my only food truck I trust 100% and love their quality of cooking. You’ll agree too once you try them out!“

“Taco truck situated at an empty street corner lot. Google maps is abit off. It's actually located across the street. The surrounding area was abit dark. I'm not going to lie, I questioned it when I pulled up lol. But I'm glad i went in. Tacos were awesome. Quick service. Will surely come again.“

“Taqueria Campos is a lunch counter in the heart of Barrio Logan. I stopped by accident and was struck by the fact that the customers were locals. For the first time I ordered "a huarache" with birria and adobada. The name caught my attention because it means "a sandal." The half-golden tortilla breaded with meat, lettuce and cheese. I didn't add spice so I could enjoy the meats as they had been cooked. Both meats have good seasoning without abusing salt or spices. The tortilla is a little hard for me but it is easy to navigate once chewed??. For dessert I had two options: chocofla and tres leches flan. I opted for the latter. Again good balance of sweet. I'm not cloying like some other sweet desserts. The kitchen is taken care of by the "boss's" sister. And that leads me to the fact that it is a family taqueria. And as such the customers who served while I dined had that everyday familiarity. In the 45 minutes I was there, there was always a customer asking for an order. For me it is important that local customers return for the family atmosphere and good cuisine. It was worth stopping. (I owe the photo of the flan for next time ??)
Parking: It's a lunchbox. Expect to park on the neighborhood's street.
Kid-friendliness: It is a family atmosphere. The clients know the family and they know the family by name.“

“So fun, glad we stumbled onto this place. After a walk on the Coronado beach, we decided to head south to IB. We checked out the menu on Google, as soon as I saw ossobuco taco I was sold. Parking in the lot by the restaurant was 2 bucks, score! It's a cash lot only FYI, and the lot was pretty dead despite the beach and boardwalk being full of people on a Friday evening. The restaurant is mostly outdoors, and they have upper patio seating to take in the view, the restaurant is super close to the shore. The entire staff was friendly, smiling, and so attentive. My husband tried a Japanese beer and he loved it, I got the Pina colada slushy, which was pretty good. But the tacos were out of this world, the ossobuco did not disappoint, so tender, so flavorful, and I think most of their tacos have that fried cheese in them. I also ordered a fish taco which was really crisp and fresh, but my husband's fried shrimp taco was unexpected. The shrimp was wrapped taquito-style then fried before added to the taco and dressed, crazy. Carne asada was tender and so well marinated, i could have eaten a plate of just that. We also had the sharable quesadilla which I highly recommend, the asadero cheese was fried and caramelized before it was put into the tortilla, which was also lightly grilled, it was mouthwatering! Two tacos each, a sharable quesadilla, and two drinks was like 55 bucks. I will be back, can't wait to try the carnitas taco.
Vegetarian options: I was impressed by the veggie options throughout the menu, clearly labeled and appetizing. We had to quesadilla, so yummy!“

“I have been here three times now and I plan to come more often for sure. The food is great, prices are great, I like the music, and there’s not too much more to ask for from an awesome local food truck. There are a bunch of salsas, onions, parsley, cucumbers, and more that you can help yourself to and it’s close to home with that authentic Mexican flavor. I ordered 5 tacos and debated getting more haha Great spot, check them out!“

“The "Keka" Taco is not a taco. It is a declaration of war against hunger, against mediocrity, against the sad, pale shadows of what lesser places dare call “Mexican food.” A hand-made corn tortilla, thick and supple, griddled to golden perfection, cradling a heaping pile of perfectly charred carne asada, melty cheese binding it all together in gooey, beef-fat ecstasy. It’s part taco, part quesadilla, and all masterpiece. You bite in, and suddenly, life makes sense. The rich, smoky beef, the salty-sweet cheese, the slightly crisp, slightly chewy tortilla—it’s the kind of balance you’d expect from a kitchen that’s been perfecting this for generations. There’s a snap of acidity from whatever salsa you dare to douse it with, maybe a hit of lime if you’re feeling particularly self-indulgent. It’s greasy in all the right ways. Messy, joyous, an experience meant to be eaten with both hands and zero shame. This is the taco dreams are made of. The kind of meal that makes you question why you ever wasted time on anything less. A 10 out of 10. Hell, an 11. If you don’t eat this, you are failing at life.“

“Was nice, queso and chips are definitely worth starting with and the margarita the best I had whilst in San Diego.
I had a chimichanga which was massive and a little too heavy with the cheese. Nice evening out overall but think I’d order the enchiladas next time which looked really good.“
