“This is a very cozy spot to grab a good meal. It’s not fancy or over the top, but that’s honestly part of its charm. It feels like a small local Japanese place where the focus is simply on serving good, comforting food.

The staff were very kind as well. It happened to be raining when we arrived, and they were nice enough to let us come in a little earlier than opening, which we really appreciated.

I ordered the pork cutlet with curry and the portion was very generous — definitely satisfying and full of flavor. The only small hiccup was that my Diet Coke was forgotten at first, so I had to ask again, but they brought it out shortly after.

Overall, it was a really pleasant experience. If you’re looking for a casual place with tasty food and a relaxed atmosphere, this spot is definitely worth checking out. The price per person is also very reasonable for the portion sizes you get.“

“This place is more of a drinking bar. I tried this place out 2× and food was nasty so I never went back again until recently my friends wanted to go there to drink so I tried it the 3rd time. “It’s been getting quite cold outside (for Californian standards), which is the perfect time for sukiyaki. We’ve had Yumiyaki on our radar for a while now, and since I just subscribed to a Chubby Plus membership, we figured that now was as good a time as any to give them a try. You get a choice between shabu shabu or sukiyaki broth, and of course, we chose the sukiyaki. I personally prefer sukiyaki to traditional hot pot due to the sweeter broth. If you like your broth less sweet, you can ask your server to add more dashi. We also opted for the diamond menu, which gives each person a slice of A5 Ribeye. Your server will grill this initial premium piece of meat for you in a classic yakisuki style. First, they will grease the grill with a cube of fat and sprinkle a light amount of salt. Then, they pour a shallow amount of sukiyaki broth and briefly swish the meat in it before having you dip it in a saucer of raw, beaten egg and enjoy the rich, silky, indulgent bite. It was delicious - comparable to when I had it in Kyoto and much better than when I had it at Niku X. The diamond tier is worth it for that one bite alone. Even though I’ve already experienced it, I would get it again on my next visit.

After this presentation, your server will fill up the pot with the rest of the sukiyaki broth, and the rest of the cooking is up to you. Diamond tier gives you unlimited access to the A5 Chuck Roll, which Gold tier only gets 1 piece of. It’s very rich and fatty, and to maximize your enjoyment for the night, you should have multiple trays of it, especially because each order of the A5 Chuck Roll only comes with 2 pieces. The Wagyu Brisket was good, but a little outshined by other meats on the menu. For people that prefer something more lean, the Full Blood M9+ Shoulder Cut (a new menu item, I believe)  is an excellent option.

In addition to beef, Yumiyaki also offers a selection of seafood dishes to complement your meal, The Diamond tier gives you a choice from their 4 specialty dishes. We all chose the Otoro bowl with caviar, chopped Otoro served over a small bed of rice and a dollop of caviar on top. The Otoro was decent. I’m not a huge fan of presenting Otoro chopped because I feel like it takes away from the texture. It was still enjoyable, but I’ve definitely had better. I think if you’re going to have it chopped, a touch of freshness from chives or something would’ve been nice. Classic nigiri is available in AYCE fashion. We stuck to the salmon and bluefin tuna and had no complaints there. Diamond tier gives you additional access to the wagyu nigiri with foie gras and wagyu nigiri with caviar. They were good, but I would’ve liked more caviar and foie gras on each piece. Raw scallops, among other seafood items, are available to everyone in the buffet area as well, and they were delicious after simmering in our broth (please don’t eat those raw).

Service, however, was a little rocky. For the most part, our server was nice, got our meat out quickly, and frequently checked up on us, but sometimes seemed absent minded. Sometimes when I talked to this person, I wasn’t sure if they were paying attention to me. They also forgot to apply my Chubby Plus discounts. I’m glad I double checked my receipt, because I paid a hefty price for that membership, and I would hope I got all the benefits from it. We also had to ask for some things multiple times, such as refills on eggs and the receipt. The restaurant is quite small and we were among the last guests of the night, so I don’t understand why the service was so splotchy even though the restaurant was not very busy.

Aside from the occasional rough patches, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Yumiyaki and think that it is one of the better Chubby Group restaurants. I loved the yakisuki presentation and enjoyed the A5 Ribeye. The sukiyaki broth was so delicious. I would definitely come back to Yumiyaki and recommend it to my family and friends.“

“One of my favorite restaurants in San Gabriel! They offer several all-you-can-eat options, including Hot Pot AYCE, Premium Hot Pot AYCE, BBQ AYCE, and their Luxury AYCE. My personal favorite is the Luxury AYCE, which includes both premium hot pot and BBQ skewers. This option is available for dinner only.

For hot pot, you can choose up to three broths and then order from a huge selection of meats, seafood, vegetables, and other hot pot items, along with Chinese BBQ skewers. Desserts are also included and available at the self-serve station. I usually grab the roll cakes. There’s a huge variety overall, so there’s something for everyone!

Parking is easy since there’s a parking lot, and the service is great. The servers are attentive and happy to answer any questions we have about the menu. Always a great experience here!“

“Thanks to my son in law we got to try a new spot. How Rowland Heights has changed since the 80’s. Just love the rich food scene. Be forewarned. Friday and Saturday nights the parking can be very challenging. Once seated service was quick. But here is how it works. You order your broth selection an some premium proteins online. The rest is pretty much self service from the various refrigerators. Seafood, beef tendon, beef with cilantro, gizzards, plenty of mushrooms, and veggies. You select what you want and take it back to your table and immerse in the broth. Feels very cafe style which I just enjoyed. Totally a find. I will be back.“

“Not bad for an all you can eat hot pot, but a few more food selection would be nice on top of what they have. $37 is a bit much for the amount they have. They have two tiers. Premium and Prime. Prime is $53. The soy sauce they use at the sauce station is more salty than the other soy sauces I've had. One of the staff, younger girl kept messing up with the soup base orders for our table and another table's. It wasn't even busy at that time. It's nice they do birthday discounts. Free drinks and ice cream so that's also a plus. Would be nice if they had strawberry ice cream instead of double cookies and cream rubs. They should add pork blood rice cakes. The young lady there appears inattentive and unsure of the process. Even after joining the Yelp waitlist ahead of time, we're left standing without explanation for 5-10 minutes each visit until another staff member takes over and seats us.

“Hidden hot pot gem – $33.88 AYCE and actually good

This place has been around for over a decade, right by the TAWA plaza.

We got there right when they opened in the afternoon, and the place filled up almost instantly. Most people seemed like regulars.

$33.88 gets you AYCE hot pot + a buffet station + sauces. Same price on weekends, and they don't charge extra for broth. The soup base is surprisingly good – has that nourishing, slightly herbal vibe. Reminded me of the old Little Sheep.

Plenty of options. Lamb and beef are a must – fresh. The pork intestine gets super soft and sticky after a quick boil – I wanted a second plate. The buffet had sesame balls, spring rolls, piggy buns, fries, edamame… the cha siu bao actually tasted like dim sum from a cart.

We also ordered scallion pancake on the side – super crispy. Almost asked for another one to take home.

Service speed is probably the fastest I've seen for AYCE. Food comes quick. Open till midnight – great for late-night cravings. And if you're staying at the Hilton? Literally across the street.“

“Very nice small restaurant selling specialty noodles and some side items. The potato noodles have a firmer texture, kinda like soba, the soup was delicious. Chicken bone was also very good. There was an old couple working there, very friendly. Price was reasonable, highest it goes was $13 for the house special noodle. Overall a great place to try something new and unique.“

“red chili is my sunday spot, it’s cozy, flavorful, and consistently hits the mark. the stir-fried string beans are punchy and perfectly blistered, the pickled chili fish is sour and spicy in all the right ways, and the pork belly is so tender it barely holds together (in a good way). i also love ordering a few cold dishes to balance things out. the tripe with chili oil has this addictive chew and numbing heat.

“We visited this place when we were in old town Pasadena walking our dog on December 25th and they are open. I admire restaurants giving time to serve hot food when some restaurants choose to close this holiday. We went in together with our dog on a stroller they are open to service animals. Ambience was great not too loud and restaurant layout gives you a chance to go through each table without hitting another chair. I ordered the Japanese Miso, my wife ordered the Lamb Soup and my son ordered the Taiwanese Hot Soup. The food came in with a heating box where in they would light it up and keep the soup piping hot. It’s just like the Shabu-Shabu style on the side I ordered Vermicelli and my wife and son ordered white rice. Food was overflowing from the bowl what a great treat! All three soups we ordered had their own different tastes. This is the one of the Boiling Point restaurants that is fully staffed no need to wait on a server to get your order. Comparing this to the one we last visited this one will give you more food we had to bring home half of it as we were already full and there is still a lot left! We will come back here again for sure“

We came in for hot pot. Please note this is not an AYCE place. But the quality here will make you come back.

We got the pork tripe chicken broth. I could drink this all day. We got an assortment of vegetables. We got corn, various mushrooms, bamboo shoots, tofu, greens and water chestnuts. All so good and so fresh.

For proteins we got ribeye, beef tongue, and lamb. Everything was so fatty and flavorful. Such great quality meat.

We also got a few appetizers. The popcorn mushrooms are my new favorite. The mashed garlic cucumbers were crispy and delicious. They also have skewers and we got chicken hearts, which is a personal favorite. And we also got a beef tongue plate. So good and the Chili's brought the heat.

Such friendly service and delicious comfort food will make this a place to come back to again and again.“
