“Popped into here with my husband and we had a were pleasantly surprised at how cute this place was, how good the food was and most of all how friendly the owners Bryan and Kelly (I think that is their names) were. The conversation over their burgers on the cute reteo counter was definitely the highlight.“

“The location is right next to a gas station, so it’s probably not the best spot if you’re looking to hang out with friends or have a date night. But don’t let the location fool you—the moment I pulled up, I could smell the food from the parking lot, and it smelled amazing.

The customer service was exceptional. The gentleman who helped me even gave me complimentary black tea with spices while I waited. It was piping hot and had a really good flavor. My food also came out fairly quickly.

I ordered the chicken shawarma plate, which came with seasoned chicken, rice, pita bread, hummus, and a creamy garlic sauce on the side. Everything was hot, flavorful, and well seasoned without being overdone. I was a little surprised that the chicken was shredded since I expected larger grilled pieces, but it was still delicious and had plenty of flavor.

The hummus was especially good—it honestly tasted homemade—and the creamy garlic sauce went perfectly with everything. Overall, the great service and delicious food definitely made up for the location. I’d come back for the food and hospitality.“

“The bathrooms were closed out of order and they were open. I went there to eat and go to the bathroom. I was waiting for my windshield to be replaced. I got offered a date on the street. I'm not happy got begged for money on parking lot.“

“Bongo Burger is still the best burger in the Bay.

What makes it so good is the style. It’s not a massive, overloaded burger… it’s light (but filling), balanced, and somehow they manage to make a thin patty that’s still cooked medium-rare, juicy, and perfectly pink in the center. That’s surprisingly hard to find.

The grilled onions have are so good on the burger, really make it a signature. Add fresh chopped lettuce, ripe tomato, and the classic Bongo Burger bun, and it’s just a perfect combo. Also the use of two different color cheeses really makes it visually appetizing.

The fries are equally impressive. They’re crispy on the outside but somehow stay soft, fluffy, and full of actual potato on the inside instead of drying out.

The cooks are talented clearly.

On top of all that, the prices are incredibly reasonable, the staff is always friendly, and the vibe feels like old Berkeley in the best possible way.

The Euclid location is my favorite. I grew up eating there in the ‘90s, and I’m amazed that the quality is still just as good today. Places like this are rare. I hope Bongo Burger is around forever.“

“It's nice little burger joint. There's no parking lot (that I saw) so you need to find street parking.

I ordered two single burgers, one with cheese and one without. It gives that homemade burger flavor which I enjoy, but it was missing a littke something to tie it together.

I also got the tallow fries, which were really good! My mom found them a bit salty though (I do have a higher salt threshold so...). I like the slightly beefy taste and the crispness it gave the fries.

We also got the sweet potato fries! They're waffle cut and were simple and good!

The wait was very short, definitely under 10 minutes. The cashier (i think the receipt said Eduardo?) Was kinda and straight to the point.

“If you haven’t been here before, this will be your new favorite bbq spot in Oakland. They don’t cut corners and they do texas bbq justice. Juicy brisket, peppery pork ribs and snappy meat tubes are what keep me coming back.

Got the Moroccan burger with chicken, and chicken patty was really well done. Highly recommend curly fries. Best part of the meal was the impossible mushroom truffle burger! Really good sandwich. Truffle fries and classic chicken were ok, can skip IMO. Turkish coffee and pink guava shake were excellent. Portions were huge, we had meals for the next day as well.“

“1111 Solano is a new location for this restaurant. Previously near Craneway and before the pandemic in Point Richmond. Same chef, same staff, and same excellent food and service.“

The polish with grilled onions is the best and you can take it into Cullen's Pub next door so you can have it with a beer on-tap.
