“This is the closest food joint to the hospital and I’ve never been greeted with such kindness and warmth. The owner and even the cooks and other workers are so familiar with all of the customers. Their stories, their family, all of it and it’s so refreshing to see such a positive environment during people’s difficult days from the hospital. 10/10 to the owners and staff. “If you’ve ever been to a Nation’s, you already know the food is fantastic, and very reasonably priced. At the Moraga location the staff is equally fantastic, with a tip of the cap to Jairo.
You see, my Mom is in a nursing home just up the road from the restaurant, and she loves Nation’s milkshakes, so I pick one up for her 2 - 3 times a week. After my second visit, Jairo spotted me walking in, started a milkshake, grabbed the extra cup and straw I use, and had me on my way in 5 minutes.
And I’ve never said a word to him except ‘Hi’. So thanks, Jairo.“

“The location is right next to a gas station, so it’s probably not the best spot if you’re looking to hang out with friends or have a date night. But don’t let the location fool you—the moment I pulled up, I could smell the food from the parking lot, and it smelled amazing.

The customer service was exceptional. The gentleman who helped me even gave me complimentary black tea with spices while I waited. It was piping hot and had a really good flavor. My food also came out fairly quickly.

I ordered the chicken shawarma plate, which came with seasoned chicken, rice, pita bread, hummus, and a creamy garlic sauce on the side. Everything was hot, flavorful, and well seasoned without being overdone. I was a little surprised that the chicken was shredded since I expected larger grilled pieces, but it was still delicious and had plenty of flavor.

The hummus was especially good—it honestly tasted homemade—and the creamy garlic sauce went perfectly with everything. Overall, the great service and delicious food definitely made up for the location. I’d come back for the food and hospitality.“

“The cold whipping wind threatened to derail our outdoor dining experience, but thankfully, we live in Alameda and we knew to bring jackets.

With that out of the way, we proceeded to enjoy a leisurely 2 hour dinner where every dish was expertly prepared and plated. The staff were attentive and checked in on us periodically.

We enjoyed the caesar salad with boquerones, the octopus and bay shrimp ceviche with leche de tigre, the duck confit and the the shoestring potatoes. We finished off the meal with a small citron tarte and some coffee.

Would recommend without reservation, but a reservation might get you seated indoors. :)“

“Just go! There's a parking lot so you won't need to circle to find a spot. The food is INCREDIBLE!
And they have a little hidden oasis in the back where one can eat a crazy good burger & spiced fries.

“Als big burger is my dad and Is favorite comfort food spot. Their garden burgers are great and now that they’ve returned to their old fries we were thrilled!!

Their ranch is amazing aswell and we love getting a chocolate shake with extra malt. The staff is also always so kind!“

Atmosphere is not great -it’s right across from the Coliseum BART station -but it’s the only place in the immediate vicinity. I was running late to a NIN concert so hadn’t had time to grab something beforehand. There are only two sidewalk tables, so I sat on the fire hydrant. Perfectly fine for a quick bite before a show. They also have a really large menu. I’d stop by again.“

2nd time there brought the wife. She got normal cheeseburger with the fixins and I got the california avocado burger I think was name. Drinks and fries. Delicious. Hit the spot and very filling.“

The menu has evolved to include salads (like teriyaki chicken and teriyaki salmon)and some healthier options like quinoa bowls. “Bongo Burger is still the best burger in the Bay.

What makes it so good is the style. It’s not a massive, overloaded burger… it’s light (but filling), balanced, and somehow they manage to make a thin patty that’s still cooked medium-rare, juicy, and perfectly pink in the center. That’s surprisingly hard to find.

The grilled onions have are so good on the burger, really make it a signature. Add fresh chopped lettuce, ripe tomato, and the classic Bongo Burger bun, and it’s just a perfect combo. Also the use of two different color cheeses really makes it visually appetizing.

The fries are equally impressive. They’re crispy on the outside but somehow stay soft, fluffy, and full of actual potato on the inside instead of drying out.

The cooks are talented clearly.

On top of all that, the prices are incredibly reasonable, the staff is always friendly, and the vibe feels like old Berkeley in the best possible way.

The Euclid location is my favorite. I grew up eating there in the ‘90s, and I’m amazed that the quality is still just as good today. Places like this are rare. I hope Bongo Burger is around forever.“

“We visit CaliKids every Wednesday. The staff are sweet and fast. My sons favorite place to eat. Everything is fresh, and fried in avocado oil. My favorite is the coffee milkshake and my son loves the chocolate one. Also, mind you, they serve beer as well. Can't recommend them enough.“
