“Since this Cafe is so close to my house, I love taking my friends here when they come visit. The town of Orinda always gives me this feeling of leisure and grabbing a bite at Cafe Teatro helps to calm my mind. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available but I prefer outdoor for the sense of serenity (and because I get to look at my motorcycle while I eat). Love the Melts and Espresso here!“

“Best ice cream I’ve EVER had and probably the only thing I will miss when I leave this school. I’m sorry I doubted you when my friends said this is life changing ice cream. My biggest support during exam season. There must be magic in these ice cream because all the flavors are so perfect. I order a fruit freeze 50/50 every time and i REALLY REALLY RECOMMEND trying the fruit freezes. I do guava and cereal milk and oh my godddd they balance out soooo perfectly. It was so good I started buying pints of cereal milk. I wish I could buy the guava in pints too. Best thing in Berkeley, genuinely changed my life“

“Was really sad to see my favorite unique + quality brunch spot in the bay change format to being fast casual. It was such an easy brunch pick to take out of towners or friends to.

Now instead, they've become easily one of the best fast-casual food in the bay. So I really can't complain. I guess their format changed worked because I've eaten here more often than when they were full service. The value for the money you get here is pretty nuts. Still just as good ingredients & just as good preparation, all at a more approachable price point & form factor. What really gets me is I'm truly getting restaurant quality cooking for a unique cuisine I don't see very often, just a version that works better to-go. When you compare to some of the other casual lunch/dinner places in the area that have a similar format, it's really no competition. You'd be hard pressed to find a better way to spend $20-30/pp. I also love that they kept some of my favorite guilty pleasures from when they were a full service restaurant, like the knafe pancake.

Their in-house online ordering system is pretty slick and a good deal too. Works just as well as doordash without any of the bloated prices. Wouldn't mind seeing this spread around to more restaurants.“

“We were gifted our first ever Bake Sum box. After trying just one bite of a Yuzu meringue bun I knew I needed more. Ordered our second BSB last week and shared amongst the roomies, huge hit. Well baked, not too sweet, great flavor combinations. 10/10 would recommend the Bake Sum box. If you can’t grab a box, you can grab al a cart day of pick ups just to tide you over until you can get a box 😋“

The quality of the macha is unmatched. It is whisked properly for each ordered drink.

The macha donuts are delicious and have a few great flavors.

I also have to give credit to the staff when they are busy and short handed. The staff has always kept their cool and balance taking orders and making them.“

“Honestly one of the best pizza crusts I've ever had. I had the focaccia spring special pizza - with squash blossoms and burrata. The Pear Basil Gimlet is one of the best mocktails I've ever had. The brussels are dark brown and crispy and melty. Plus - LOTS of gluten free options!

I rarely have a meal where every single part of it is delicious. This place is a treat, I'd highly recommend it.“

“I was really impressed and honestly my expectations weren't that high walking in. The wine list had options you don't see everywhere and the bartender actually knew how to talk about each one. My friend ordered the burrata and I got the steak frites, both came out fast and cooked perfectly. I'm picky about steak and this one was genuinely good, juicy and seasoned well. The whole vibe was relaxed too, not pretentious like some places around here. We ended up staying way longer than we planned just because it felt so comfortable. “This is everything I want from a deli, nothing more nothing less. My son loves the pastrami sandwich and always asks to come here. The Dutch Crunch is on a different level here… feels like a free upgrade to every sandwich tbh! In addition to the pastrami, I also love the Italian and the Ultimate Veggie sandwich. “Very friendly owner. Offered 5% discount on cash payments. We ordered 3 dishes. Kaokao chicken, char siu over rice, and beef brisket noodle soup. The star of the meal was the char siu over rice. We’ll reorder that for sure. The beef brisket’s soup was soy sauce forward, my husband enjoyed the noodle but it was a tad too soft for me. The kaokao chicken is very well cooked, moist chicken, but it was a confused dish imo, so it is not a dish we would reorder. Overall good tasting food, we’d come back for the char siu. The restaurant was very smokey, and it stuck to my body and clothes all day after. So I would not come here before going anywhere important, so you’ll smell of bbq.“

“We often bring out-of-towners here because it's hard to find Laotian food outside of the Bay and Vientian Cafe always delivers. The menu is super extensive and very reasonably priced, so you can try a bunch of new things each time. We always get the nam kao and the lao sausage (which you can also take home frozen). Angel wings are also super addictive.

Food also travels well if you're looking for takeout. One of our favorite spots in the east bay!“

“Myself and a friend were looking for an ice cream joint in the Walnut Creek area, and happen to come across this place.

The owner is very friendly. We tried a variety of flavors, and then ended up getting the Roasted Cashew, Lemon Creme and the Strawberry.

The ice cream was very creamy and thick, with the right amout of sweetness. Extremely tasty. I always try ice cream at local joints, and this one exceeded all expectations. Will definitely come back, if I am in the area.“

“Soba Ichi is my local place. Quirky, genial staff. The appetizer selection is off the chain. Try the tempura and buckwheat tea. Go early if you want to try the house-made noodles. Service is remarkably fast. Lovely choice of sake wines. You won't find better miso plates anywhere.“
