Legend says if you're there on a Monday there's There 2 islanders that cook amazing food...The only thing is that they show up randomly. They will post on the Second 2 None Facebook 5 hours before showing up. If you want to be there when they cook best to like this page so you can get the latest updates and last minute events and after parties.. “I have been here about 3 times now. The bar tenders are friendly, and the general vibe is welcoming. Every time I have gone, I have enjoyed the music choices. There are 2 floors with a bar on each floor and a very nice patio. They have pool tables on both levels as well. My favorite part of the venue is the big stone fireplace. It's a cool feature.“

“What an interesting concept…. It amounts to a self serve credit card for beer. Great variety, pour a taste, try another…….what fun! The staff was quite lovely, attentive as well. The menu includes all manner of options although I went for the beer. The pizza was very tasty, aromatic, so two thumbs for the ‘za but can’t say much more than that for food. Atmosphere was dark, club-like, so not the place for bright and airy (but we’re talking beer drinking here so….. who cares!)“

“I have to share a post from my favorite restaurant the FOB kitchen in Oakland. Chef Janice’s dishes are incredible. Being a queer person it is great to have a fantastic place to dine and feel safe and excepted. If you are in Oakland you have to try it. My favorite is the adobo and halo halo.“

“You have to go at least once. I like the staff and the bar is close to the water with good outdoor seating available. They have bar food but have a good dinner as well. During the warmer months, they had outdoor music on Sunday's, but the owner was talking about getting some full-time entrainment at some point.

“Holy Basil is one of our absolute favorite places to get delivery from in the Bay Area. Our kids are addicted to the bao buns and garlic noodles. I'm obsessed with the tofu vermicelli. Nothing is cozier on a cold day than their Chili Lemongrass soup. Nothing is more refreshing on a hot day than their fresh rolls and ginger lemonade. We love Holy Basil food!“

“My dinner partner and I both agree that the physical atmosphere, and food were excellent. The place was almost empty on a Sunday night yet the service was mediocre. We had to keep tracking down the waiter for our hot water for the tea, box for take away, etc. Inattentive. The staff also seemed unhappy or dissatisfied with their jobs. The prices have gone up so don’t feel we got value for our money“

“It was my first time to this iconic venue. I saw one of my all-time favorite bands play, Steel Pole Bathtub with the Antler Family opening. This is a quaint little venue and people come from all over the Bay Area. It's also run by all women. It's also not far from the BART station.“

I can't remember what mine was called, but it had chicken (roasted perfectly), sauerkraut, cheese and other awesome stuff on a grilled rye bread that was excellent. My bride had the turkey sandwich and loved it. But the star of the show were the Tater Tots. Perfectly crisp with BBQ sauce to dip them in and then into some wonderful real bacon bits. Every tot stayed crisp from the first to the last. The meal was worth every penny and more. Get into the Alameda location and try it. You won't be sorry. PS: The only bad part for me is that we live in Seattle and won't be back down until May. But you can bet I will be eating here then.“

Once I went during a very busy time and the service was slower than I’d anticipated, but Jack was really helpful in making sure I go the service I deserved and was really gracious when my order was messed up. The bartender and server at the table were great. The atmosphere inside was very chill, not too crowded, and had people from every walk of life. I would definitely be coming back. My only thing was the chicken wings I ordered were supposed to be salt and pepper but came out with little to no seasoning. I did try the fries, and they were decent.“
