11 Best Wineries in Escondido

Rancho Guejito Vineyard Winery •
17224 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido

“Our wedding at Rancho Guejito was truly everything we dreamed of, and so much of that is thanks to Nicole and her incredible team. From the very first tour, Nicole made us feel so welcomed. One thing that really stood out to us was how hands-on she was throughout the entire process. We toured many venues while planning our wedding, and at most of them we never even met the owners. Nicole was completely different. She was present, involved, and genuinely cared about making sure our day was everything we hoped for. She is incredibly kind, patient, encouraging, and always so quick to communicate. Every question we had was answered thoughtfully, and she always made us feel like we were more than just another couple on the calendar. That personal connection meant so much to us during such an important season of our lives. On the wedding day, everything ran so smoothly. The property is absolutely breathtaking, beautifully maintained, and our guests couldn't stop talking about how stunning the venue was. We truly felt taken care of every step of the way. If you're considering Rancho Guejito, we cannot recommend it enough. It is an absolutely magical place to get married, and Nicole is one of the biggest reasons why. We are so grateful to have celebrated the best day of our lives there and will cherish those memories forever. Thank you, Nicole, for everything you did for us! 🤍“

Highland Valley Vineyards Winery •
15412 Bandy Canyon Road, Escondido

“Loved this place! It was a quiet little stop with amazing views and great wine. The owner was there to tell about each wine and even this history of the area. I didn't know smaller vineyards were this close to San Diego; it was a highlight in our trip! Also, the tasting and wine were less expensive (and better!) than some of the more commercial vineyards in the area.“

Hungry Hawk Vineyards & Winery Winery • $$
3255 Summit Dr, Escondido

“This is an amazing winery. Stumbled upon this gem after spending the day at the Safari Zoo Park. Wonderful wines (didn’t taste a bad one and hard to choose a favorite) and ambiance. Loved it so much that we became members of the Thirsty Kettle Club and shipped 6 fabulous bottles home. We spent some time talking w the owner, Jeannine…so personable and a true class act. Told us of the story of how they came about, what an incredible family story. To Mike the winemaker: great job!! Your bottles are fabulous!!! ❤️“

“Really beautiful wines and a gorgeous view. We loved everything poured, reds and whites.
The winery is located up a relatively bumpy road past a sign reading "dead end, private road". You're going the right way with a great reward at the top!“

Domaine Artefact Vineyard & Winery Wineries • $$
15406 Highland Valley Rd, Escondido

“Lovely outdoor seating, staff was knowledgeable, and the wines are delectable and smooth. They are dog friendly for outdoor seating but be warned, there are three winery dogs who roam free; so don’t bring dog reactive dogs here. Otherwise, this is a fantastic winery to visit. They offer small shareable plates to snack on. Kids are welcome but they have to stay inside in a side room (that’s all glass walls so easy to spot). Parking lot is stone and there’s a narrow road to get in so drive slow. Overall, great for tasting or a lovely afternoon“

Mia Marie Vineyards Winery • $$

“LOVE going to Mia Marie’s for an afternoon with friends. The atmosphere and view are incredible and the wine is fabulous. On weekends they have live music and wine vendors and we never feel like they’re so busy we have a “2 hour table limit”. Their staff is all incredibly sweet and knowledgeable and the tasting events are fantastic. We stay, we drink, we hang, we enjoy the scenery and music, and it’s always an amazing time.“

Altipiano Vineyard and Winery Wineries • $$
20365 Camino Del Aguila, Escondido

“I actually learned of Altipiano Vineyard and Winery on the PBS program, Fresh Glass, several months ago and took special notice since I had plans to visit San Diego. I’m so glad my son, his wife and I came here! First of all, just picture the perfect San Diego Sunday afternoon. The weather was gorgeous, even the traffic cooperated. We each had a flight which consisted of 2 of their award winning reds, and a really nice prosecco. I do not pretend to be a wine connoisseur, but I know what tastes good to me. Everything we tasted was delicious, of high quality and was elevated over the top by the atmosphere and hospitality of the owners Barbera and Dennis, as well as our hostess. We had an awesome time. Highly recommended!“
