“I found this bakery when I was looking for a place to purchase alfajores and I was so happy to have found it! I was greeted as soon as I walked in and my first visit was nothing but a very nice experience. Two young men behind the counter seemed really friendly and helpful. The other customers in the store at the time seemed very happy. I came for alfajores today, but I will definitely go back for more alfajores and other goodies!“

“We had Chocolate & Blueberry focaccia, which was truly excellent. Also two jar cakes: Pistachio and Tiramisu. The jar cakes, like the focaccia, were very nicely made from quality ingredients. But their flavors were quite subtle, and afterward we both thought that the eating pleasure we got from them wasn't worth the calories.“

“She is wonderful to work with. I have used her twice now. Once for a Mickey Mouse Twoodles cake and just recently for a baby shower. We got lemon for the cake and snickerdoodle for the cupcakes and when I tell you everyone loved them both. Her cakes are delicious and she does and amazing job with decorating them you send her a picture of what you want and she will not disappoint.“

“First time ordering a crunch cake! We got the 6” inch strawberry crunch cake and called in the order a day before to pick up. Parking is limited since it’s a residential street. When I arrived for pick up, they were just putting the brittle on. The cake is very unique, the strawberry crunch had brittle crumble all over the outside and in the inside are two moist cake and a thick layer of cream and fresh strawberries. The cake is not that sweet and taste amazing with the brittle crunch. Cutting it wasn’t that difficult, I wiped the knife each slice as instructed. I would order the mocha cake next time! This cake is $35, cash only.“

“This place doesn’t look like a place trying to impress anyone. It looks like a shop that has been doing one thing long enough to know what shortcuts ruin. The counter is small, the room unadorned, the kind of space where quality hides in plain sight because the people making it assume you’ll figure it out on your own.
Cannoli demand precision. If the shell softens, you failed. If the filling weeps, you rushed. If the ricotta is grainy or heavy or over-sugared, you didn’t understand its behavior under temperature and time. Romolo’s gets all of this right.
The shells are made the way people make things they intend to stand behind. Not brittle, not oily, not collapsing under pressure. They have that snap you only get when dough has been rolled to the correct thickness and fried at the right temperature, long enough to blister but not blister apart. You can tell someone here still listens to the sound of the shell when it cools.
The filling is clean, balanced, and confident. No perfumed overcompensation. No reckless sweetness meant to distract from inferior ricotta. This is filling made by people who understand ratio and restraint. The texture stays smooth because the ricotta was drained properly, not hurried. There’s discipline in that step alone. Most places skip it. Romolo’s doesn’t.
What impressed me most is how the cannoli hold structure on the way home. Ricotta interacts with pastry the way moisture interacts with almost anything that should remain crisp: it wants to weaken it. But Romolo’s fills to order, and they fill with judgment. Enough to satisfy, not enough to compromise the shell before you get to experience the contrast that makes cannoli worth eating in the first place.
The people behind the counter treat you the way good shops do. Direct, warm in a grounded way, the kind of friendliness that seems rooted in pride more than choreography. They hand over the box carefully, as if they know what they made can survive the trip but also know that respect is part of the craft.
This place doesn’t rely on nostalgia or theatrics. It relies on technique. On the quiet confidence of a place that has figured out what works and kept doing it. You taste repetition, patience, and the refusal to let a simple dessert become sloppy.
If you want a cannoli that proves why the thing exists at all, this is the place“

“Found a gem! They have freshly made Sfogliatella that was awesome with all its crisp flaky layers and lemony filling (ate it so fast that I forgot to take a pic). Finally found a place that makes them perfectly in the US!
Their anise biscotti were really good too. The right level of crunchiness, unlike the hard rock that are often sold elsewhere.
The panettone was moist and fluffy—the way I love!! The price was quite decent for the quality. Hope they’d make some with almonds and almond crust~
They also had veal stuffed ravioli (only sold during thanksgiving and Christmas months) that we haven’t tried yet.
Looking forward to get their ricotta pie/cake during Easter!“

“Stopped here halfway through a planned 10k run for no more than a short coffee break. Ended up buying 4 delicious pastries to take back for my aunt and cousin who I was visiting, run abandoned and uber back! This place was very much on par with those pricey boutique bakeries back in London.“

“Chestnut cake is OK in my opinion, but people around me like it. It is not too sweet. I wish they blended a chestnut puree into the cream instead of just having vanilla cream with chestnut chunks between the cake layers.
On the other hand, the egg tarts are pricy but VERY good, worth it as a nice treat.“

“Woodside Bakery prepared the most beautiful and delicious fruit pies for our August wedding. We are from out of town, and Jan and her team did a fantastic job organizing with us from afar. We are so grateful for their contribution to our special day! Highly recommend.“

“Been following this spot for a while. We have ordered dozens and dozens of mini Binka bites for celebrations. Love em!
Today popped in before picking up passenger at SFO. Delighted for the new menu! Savories!!! What?? Will be back to try. Had me a halo-halo aka shaved ice dessert despite the cold rainy weather. It was excellent from the bits of jellies to plantains topped with one ice cream. A sweet meal!! Okay I had a side of mango cream bibinka cupcake. Haha“

“Mmmmmm soft fluffly cheesecake. If you want more egg heavy cheesecake, Uncle Tetsu might not be a good option for you. The ube cheesecake is always tasty, but I was not a fan of the Oreo cheesecake. The Oreo cheesecake was just the classic with bits and pieces of Oreo, doesn't taste at all like Oreos unfortunately. Recommend the classic, ube, and pandan coconut flavors!“

“is truly a special place. Every visit is a great experience from start to finish. The food is consistently amazing—creative, flavorful, and beautifully prepared—and the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. What really says it all is that my dad, who is not vegan, absolutely loves this place. That alone speaks volumes. And for me and my wife, it's one of our favorite spots—we enjoy it every single time. Please keep all the good things going. Incredible food, amazing atmosphere, and an experience that keeps us coming back. 🌱✨“

“Happy to have found this lovely bakery in San Mateo downtown. We love their sourdough breads, sweet and savory pastries. They have long lines on the weekends so prepare to wait at-least 10-15 minutes if you are getting coffee with your pastry.
Some of my favorites are “tomato girl”, “Kouign-amann” and “everything croissant bagel”. Their chocolate sourdough and olive sourdough bread are also very unique and tasty.
They also have a cute patio on the back where you can sit, relax and enjoy the food.“

“Panaderia Michoacan 2 is more than just a bakery. In addition to their fresh and delicious Mexican bread and pastries, it also works as a well-stocked Mexican grocery store. You can find snacks, soft drinks, sauces, dried chiles, spices, candies, and many traditional ingredients all in one place.
The store is clean, organized, and spacious, the staff is friendly, and the prices are affordable.
A great place to buy fresh bread and do your Mexican grocery shopping at the same time. Highly recommended.“

“I LOVE THESE LADIES! The best cinnamon rolls, fantastic scones, the peanut butter bars are incredible, and their pies?! Outstanding. But above all else, they are good people. They work hard and they care about their community. What they are doing with The Local Spot is really something special. Building a home to share other small local businesses is such a beautiful and powerful thing. I am proud to support them!!
…but really. Those cinnamon rolls. My god. Go. Tomorrow. Trust me.“

“It appears there have been changes to the drink menu and now some of the drinks don't match what the menu describes (eg perfect dirty martini is not aligned with what the menu says). Loved the addition of brunch specials. Would be nice to mix up the full menu from time to time as well.“

“Crumbl cookies are famously large and incredibly sweet. While many of their flavors are enticing, I'd love to see some less sweet options introduced to balance the richness.
Peanut Butter Crisp featuring Butterfinger (4.5/5): This cookie delivered on its promise with a great peanut butter flavor and a satisfying crunch from the Butterfinger pieces. A truly enjoyable fusion.
Cake Batter (4/5): This was less a cookie and more a mini cake! The confetti cookie base was delightful, and the cream cheese-like frosting added a nice touch, but it was exceptionally sweet.“
