“Our visit yesterday was fire. I wanted cajun fries so bad the whole day so we stopped in. The server with the brown hair and sweater yesterday must’ve read my mind because she had my cajun fries seasoned extra well just as I had asked for. “Had recently visited New Orleans and needed something in the SoCal area to scratch that itch. Had the seafood gumbo and a shrimp po'boy with mac and cheese. The owner was lovely and incredibly nice. Food did take a bit of time but so worth it. The shrimp in the po'boy was well seasoned and had amazing flavor. The gumbo was phenomenal as well, packed with everything you'd expect giving you a nice warm fuzzy feeling after eating it. Mac and cheese was great too, rich in flavor. Will drive up from OC to eat here again soon.“
“This is a small place next to a small parking lot. So I was there on a rainy late Saturday afternoon and got right up to the order window. I had the fish and shrimp combo with cabbage and red beans & rice. The fish was fairly thickly and crunchy-battered cooked just right. The shrimp were quite large for a combo plate... this place isn't cheap, but they have it all down to a Cajun science. “Louisiana Charlie’s is an order first type restaurant where you pay and order your food at the register before being seated. There is indoor and outdoor waterfront seating. It gets extremely crowded during the weekend and they do not accept reservations. The prices ate extremely reasonable especially for the seafood boils and they have lunch specials.The food looks amazing I always want to try everything that I see at other tables. I’ve tried the shrimp Po boy and oyster Po boy. Both were fried and seasoned perfectly. The Cajun fries are thoroughly seasoned and the Cajun spices are delicious. The shrimp & grits are also really good, especially the roux. The cornbread is great too. I look forward to coming back to try different menu items. The staff are all friendly with good vibes. There is a paid parking lot that the restaurant will validate.“

“Chef Marilyn's has been a staple in LA for many years at this location and the other location across from McDonald's near 43rd. Lines are always long as it's a takeout location but the food is always good. I get her prices went up but what hasn't these days. Inflation is real for food, groceries and gotta keep staff at competitive wages. The food is so bomb nothing is never nasty chicken meatloaf spaghetti yams greens cornbread smothered chicken and her gumbo is everything. We love it here and will keep visiting. Her ambiance is a to go so it's busy and staff can be a bit slower but they are friendly. Some of the best soul food on the west coast.“

Excellent tasting, the gravy was delicious oxtails were falling off the bones and the candied yams were very good also. Did not really like the corn bread dressing.
