“This place is why I love California. It's a hole in the wall but, the food is great at a cheap price. The owner has had this restaurant for 50 years. He works everyday, often with his sister. He's a great guy. Can't recommend this place enough.“

“We had the best experience at Bubu’s restaurant. My husband tried the albondigas (meatballs) in a chipotle sauce. They were delicious and the tasted just like those my Mexican grandma used to cook. Not too spicy, not too watery. Everything else was equally authentic and delicious. The handmade tortillas make the experience unique.
The service was wonderful and we met Jesus, the chef, who takes great pride in his cooking. Worth visiting! Even if the location and humble look of the place are deceiving, it’s worth visiting!“

“I finally have a local, good, and cost effective place near my house. So far I’ve had their cheese burger and fish ceviche. The burger was big and juicy. The fries were great. The fish ceviche was spiced so if you don’t like spice like me, ask them to put the vinaigrette on the side and add to your liking. But a good overall place that I recommend. They also do take out and call in for pick up. They do Door Dash and Grub hub too.“

Tortillas are freshly made and all tacos I had were so uniquely flavorful. I got 3 at first and had to get another 2 and the guy gave me an extra chile relleno taco to try. So freaking nice. The food was REALLY good. I had the Molcajete, and my kids loved the garlic shrimp and rice. Big thanks to Pablo in the kitchen for making everything so delicious.

“We recently catered a birthday party w/Casa Playa. It was pretty short notice, 3 days, but they really made our party perfect! I called and Alathena helped walk me through the menu to choose just the right amount of food. They provided the buffet racks and the sterno (saved me a couple of trips looking for them). Everything was delivered exactly on time and hot! They even provided signs to make choosing easier. The food was DE-Licious!! Crispy tacos were awesome as were the enchiladas. “Fantastic hidden gem! Located in north long beach, this authentic Mexican restaurant is absolutely delicious. They have plenty of nostalgic dishes that you may remember a loved cooking for you. They have soups, tacos, and special dishes such as costillitas con nopales. I was left very much happily satisfied. Parking is a nightmare, they have a small lot. It is a mom and pop shop, so please keep that in mind when you arrive. Seating is extremely limited, but they have a couple chairs out front to ensure you're taken care of. Please tip if you can as I'm positive a place like this is not common anymore these days. The ladies who serve and take orders have the most cute uniforms and friendliest of service. Anything upon request!!! Please ask before you do. They have a specific seating order and will be happy to accommodate when you ask! Oh they do serve alcohol, beers and margaritas 😬“

The burrito had a perfect ratio of rice/beans/carne asada. The habenero salsa was delicious, but very hot. The rice was cooked perfect, nice and fluffy. Beans were very good as well. “The day before the BTS concert for Day 1, I came with my dad to this small restaurant in the morning when it just opened. The ladies were very welcoming and the place was very clean. I wasn't that hungry because we had a long drive, had barely woken up, and was car sick, but ended up ordering some chilaquiles and horchata. And let me tell you, the food was hella bomb with a great quantity. My dad liked his food as well. I was just sad I couldn't finish all of mine 😅. But would totally recommend to dine here. Will probably come by again if I ever go to another concert that is held in the same stadium BTS had theirs. Hopefully will come with a bigger appetite.“
