“We ate dinner there after a flight into Long Beach from Atlanta. What a great place!!! The service was fantastic, my wife's tamale was perfect, and my torta was pretty good. I should have ordered something else, but that is more of a me problem. The torta was huge and messy to eat, but it was definitely good enough for dinner. The woman working there (likely the owner) was such a delight to talk to. Give this place a try.“
“We place an order for chicharon with queso pupusas, cheese quesadilla, and chicken taco dorado. Everything about the cuisine was freshly made and excellent! The chicken tacos dorados were so delicious that we wanted to keep ordering them.“
“Solid spot for being down the street from me. 5:30pm opening is not really their opening as they take another 15-30 mins to finish prepping so ordering didn't begin til 6 pm. Long line but moves pretty fast as we were towards the back, and the salsa bar has a wide selection of choices. I tried every taco and split an Al pastor potato with my wife. The Al pastor is definitely the winner and the reason why the trompo caught my eye driving by the place a few times. The al pastor has good flavor, is juicy, and is not overcooked. The other highlights were the chicken, tripas & buche tacos, each had good flavor and cooked nicely. I'd skip the rest of the taco choices next time.“
“Expect a beach shack experience. Do not come here looking for a romantic setting or personal service. When you come in, you will get in a line and place an order. Drinks are ordered here as well. You can sit wherever you want and wait for your number to be called. You pick up your food and drinks from the counter. I think they have a great selection of seafood. I am super biased when it comes to Baja style shrimp tacos because I make my own and home, but this placed nailed it. They are not stingy with the protein and they are heavy with the toppings. The chipotle cream sauce is good but very spicy. Ceviche was awesome and again, plenty of protein on your tostada and a nice hefty serving of avocado. The miches were good! We had the chamoy mango and the tamarindo. You can order taco boxes and they also cater. Great selection of hot sauces.“
“I was visiting SoCal and wanted some good mexican food. When I was looking at places, this place had some really good comments so I decided to go. La Gordita is a very small place, A rated, and only accepts cash. I ordered Chili Verde, the portion was generous and it was fantastic, the meat was very tender and the rice and refried beans were great as well. This is a small family run business and I would highly recommend La Gordita. Great job!!“
