We also compared it head to head against another omakase place in San Diego that had a Michelin star.. sushi maru is a better value and better experience overall. “My wife and I recently found this place and love it so much we came back the next day. We got salmon nigiri, pho, bahn mi, soft shell crab hand roll and tuna nigiri.

We were a little skeptical when ordering the sushi since the interior isn’t the nicest looking, but looks are deceiving! The salmon, tuna, and crab were very fresh, and the portions were great as well! The pho had amazing flavor too. We asked for the meat on the side, and it was very fresh and delicious. The bahn mi is my favorite in San Diego, everytime I order it the bread tastes like they just made it, and the meat seasoning is crazy good.

The owner (I think) is very friendly and kind too, and always makes sure we get our food quickly!

Don’t let the old bad reviews sway your visit, this place has delicious and fresh sushi, pho, and bahn mi, for an extremely reasonable price which is hard to find in San Diego. We will be back regularly!“

“Dope Spot! Had the Clams Sakamushi, healed my stomach from my mistakes of day drinking. The paired sake with it was fire. Vibes on point, aesthetic was awesome! Looked so cool and a fun spot for some sake! We rolled up 8 people and luckily we were able to get seats but took but the long side of the bar.“

I tried their sushi for the first time last night and was seriously surprised, in a good way. I’ve tried several sushi places in the South Bay and this is some of the best. “This Mexican-influenced sushi spot reminds me a lot of the sushi I’ve had in Tijuana. The food has that border-fusion style, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere that feels more like a good Tijuana restaurant than a typical U.S. sushi place.
I really enjoyed the ramen, and the desserts were excellent—especially the churro-style tempura with cinnamon and ice cream. Service was okay but not outstanding; the staff is friendly and trying, though they could be more attentive. English is spoken well enough to communicate.
Overall, the food is the standout. Reasonably priced, good flavors, and a unique vibe. I’d definitely go back.“

“I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding the service I received during my recent visit to your restaurant.

One of the waitresses was extremely rude and unprofessional throughout my interaction with her. Additionally, I requested a few slices of lemon, and later noticed that I was charged for them without being informed there would be an additional cost. I found this practice both misleading and discourteous.“

Wait staff could use some training on service and how to look for tables that may need assistance. They seem to lose their way when they have more than 4 of 5 tables.“

“I recently picked up some food to go, and it was the perfect choice for a night out by the water. Everything was packed thoughtfully, including those cute heart-shaped containers that made for such a fun beach picnic setup.

The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and the ramen had a perfectly cooked egg with a rich broth. We really enjoyed the variety in our order. It was such a great meal under the moon, and I will definitely be back for more soon.“

“I’ve gotten this place twice, the first time I got Chicken Yakesoba and the second time I got pork pad see yew. Seriously, my favorite Thai spot in San Diego and I’m upset it took me so long to find it. The flavors are so genuine and powerful. Tastes fresh and not overly seasoned but definitely not shy of flavors. The owners are fantastic people and it’s such a quaint spot. IF YOU WANT GREAT FOOD, this is where you get it!!“
